Hello and welcome District 11!

Looking for a new or pre-owned vehicle or know someone who is?

It would be my pleasure to help find the right vehicle that will fit your needs and budget. With over 12 years of automotive sales and leasing experience, you will have a consultant that will help you in a no pressure atmosphere. Since I am certified in both Chevrolet and Honda, I can show you many different vehicles from rough and rugged trucks, sports cars, luxury cars and just everyday fuel efficient gas sippers. There is something for everyone. Call me now for your appointment. I can be reached at mbruce@penskeautomotive.com or by cell or text at 317-294-5225. Member of Indy Rainbow Chamber. See my ad at gayindynow.com.

I am pleased that we are holding the Spring Conference in my home town. The home of the Indianapolis speedway, the Indianapolis Colts, Pacers, Fevers, and a whole lot more! There is plenty to see and do here in Indy. However, I am glad you chose to join us here inside of the Radisson instead. Perhaps on Sunday after the conference you can venture out and enjoy the city. While looking for a hotel for our conference, Meg Claxton and I had the opportunity to visit a few of them. I have to say, the reception and accommodations we received by the Radisson staff stood out above the others. The Conference Team, chaired by Dina Batts-Davenport, DTM has put together a wonderful program with you in mind. Our LGET, Magnus Jansson, DTM and his team of facilitators have selected educational sessions that fit in with the District Success Plan (DSP). The DSP provides for every individual and club to have the opportunity and tools needed to reach distinguished status. Many of our clubs have already reached that status and are striving for an even higher one. During this conference we are taking recognition to a higher level than before. Will you or your club members be recognized? Come to the Hall of Fame Luncheon and find out. Just for you, we are providing a “photo opp” in front of our Media Wall and an opportunity to walk the Red Carpet. The Keynote Address will be given by our International Director, Andy Little. I have had the opportunity to work with Andy in helping our District reach its goals. As a “Working Ambassador” he has had the opportunity to work with our International President, whom you will all meet at the International Convention. Be sure to be on time for his address as he has a lot of information to share that will help every club strive for distinguished status. Our Communication and Leadership Recipient, Clark Lienemann, has a myriad of accomplishments as a humanitarian. He works hard to serve the people by ensuring their well being is the key focus of the companies he’s worked with. Come hear how and why Clark Lienemann was chosen as our C & L Recipient this year. So, I encourage you to sit back, relax, have fun, and network with your fellow Toastmasters. If we accept the message from our International Director, Andy Little, to have one vision (to be distinguished), and have one voice (speaking it into existence), together we can reach our individual and club goals. For all you do for Toastmasters, thanks a bunch!

Debra A. Bunch, DTM District 11 Governor

Communication and leadership have been critical components throughout Clark Lienemann‘s career that started after graduating from college into for profit business experience in the big business corporate world in Chicago, then shifting into a sales, marketing, and research profession in Florida, and then shifting for the past 13 years into Indianapolis nonprofit humanitarian work as Director of Development at Easter Seals Crossroads, and since 2006 serving as just the sixth Executive Director at the 100 year old Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center. Over the past six years, Clark has provided exceptional leadership in organizational administration and financial management; strategic planning; managing complex federal grants and compliance matters; launching new business development and communication initiatives; building strong leadership and staff teams; and working collaboratively with board executive leadership and extensive formal partnerships to achieve impressive results. At Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, Clark has successfully secured and managed $16 million in total revenue and $10 million in grants, including complex federal contracts and led 27 staff, 20 board members, over 400 donors and volunteers, and over 75 active partnerships all aligned to achieve the organization‘s strategic mission. Communication has certainly been a vital part of all of those efforts. Communication and leadership has been a consistent thread through Clark‘s professional career, whether working at E. W. Scripps, a Fortune 1000 media organization, or helping serve families facingsome of the most difficult challenges including extremely low income in the inner city. Today, Clark‘s use of communication and leadership has helped to advocate for improvements in Indianapolis, listened to clients and delivered better services to meet client needs, and raised greater awareness and community volunteer and financial support benefiting the 9,000 individuals and families served each year at Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center. Clark has a business degree from the University of Illinois and has also achieved two prestigious professional certifications including CPA and CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive). Clark lives in Indianapolis with his wife and two teenage children, one of whom is preparing to begin her college career next year with a strong interest in… communications.
