The house is sheltered by a planar roof structure. Appears as floating in thin air; the contrasting scale of its massive beam blurs out the spaces below. Pointing towards the private garden, it is evident that each room are shaded to receive different quality of light. The components of private and public space are separated by the common area in the middle. The use of timber as material and structure provides a mutual relationship with the landscape. The sophisticated diagonal ceiling joist provides a pattern for the ceiling. A tell the detail feel which reminiscence the waffle slab fundamentals of a different technique

Palace of Justice Le Corbusier

The designed infrastructure, landscape and buildings, working at all scales from the master plan down to the tiniest detail of interiors and furniture. This architecture for Chandigarh reveals Le Corbusier’s move to ever simpler, non-mechanically made, hand crafted pieces. In departure from earlier aesthetic of mass produced ‘modernism’ style, the Chandigarh items demonstrate a ‘mass-individuality’, as no two pieces are identical. The Palace of Justice building feature symbolic and monumental pieces alongside a more utilitarian complexity. Ciutat Vella, unlike other quarters of Barcelona, is a city in itself… this city within a city seems to be the main feature of historical centers starting from this point everything gets complicated. The present planning is unable to manage the complexity of the situation. and looking for short-term results, has unbearably limited the rules of the game.

The town market is situated in the heart of the city. Ever since it was formed, in the middle of the previous century, the market has represented the centre of urban activity in the city. In contrast to the old market, the new development is designed as an extrovert urban area, a kind of covered city square which is inextricably linked to the surrounding urban space.

To repeat. To make it again. The project must not exsist in a particular moment in time, but in inhabiting it. Our projects starts by criticising the actual planning and proposes a model that allows for adaption to the area's complexity.

The new market building is designed like a giant steel roof, which covers both closed as well as open stalls intended for costermongers. The roof is divided into several smaller roof surfaces, which have split levels so as to create transitive areas, penetrated by sunlight, which lights up the marketplace during the day. The pointed interspaces, which allow the market to enjoy natural lighting, also have a structural purpose, as they constitute the carrying supports which allow bridging of the entire width of the building without any intermediary supports.

Planning rules which contemplate something more than the street width and the building height. A first scheme which allows for the development of the city complexity and which complies with the commitments undertaken. We propose a model in which it is not so easy to distinguish between rehabilitation and new construction. Where the squares, the constant drawing of widenings overflying the street as the only urban mechanism. The shopping points decrease, rationalizing the access and services systems. Creating public space, and residential density. We move the shopping area to Avenida Cambó, reducing its section, opening the old Market construction to the heart of Santa Caterina quarter.

Renovation to Santa Caterina Market Barcelona, Spain ; 1997 - 2005

The monochrome colour design featured in the new market creates a neutral spatial background, which accentuates the colour diversity of the fruit, vegetables and other products available at the stalls. In the described manner, the final image of the architect’s work is not solely down to the work of the architect, whereas the appearance of the market is only complete when it is crowded with visitors.

On 1 March, 1872, Emerald Hill was proclaimed a town which led to the council moving its town hall from Cecil Street to the site occupied by the Protestant Orphan Asylum. State schools replaced church schools: the Eastern Road school (1877), the Dorcas Street school (1881), the City Road school (1884) and Montague (1889), all grew to become crowded, as the population of South Melbourne more than doubled in twenty years, reaching nearly 42,000 in 1891. Before trams came to South Melbourne, Clarendon Street emerged with a main retail strip.ii

Just 4 of the 44 skills you can master 35/44 REVERSE PARKING

Do you find reverse parking tricky? Reverse parking can cause nervousness even for experienced drivers. The trick is to know exactly when to turn the steering wheel, and not to rely solely on your mirrors.

2/44 VEHICLE CONTROLS

Want smooth co-ordination of pedals, levers and wheel? Effective control of your car is the first step to low risk driving. This is not just understanding where each control is and what it does, but how the controls work together. For instance, during which gear changes does your foot need to be on the brake? We’ll show you how it all comes together.

15/44 GAP SELECTION

Unsure when’s the best time to set off? Setting off into mainstream traffic can be tricky. There’s plenty to consider - your own reflexes, your car’s acceleration, the speed of oncoming vehicles, the conditions ahead, other moving hazards. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned driver, our experts can show you how to choose a gap confidently.

concrete structure for parking

27/44 MERGING

Hesitant when merging with fast-moving traffic? Merging into traffic, especially on a motorway, requires concentration and confidence. The mistake often made is to slow down unnecessarily, which makes it harder to accelerate safely into a gap in traffic. We can show you how to merge like an expert.
