THE CORE PROPOSITION OF REVITALIZE THE HUE OF HEMEL HEMPSTEAD IS TO EXPRESS THE DISCONNECTION OF COLOUR TOWARDS ARCHITECTURE. COLOUR HAS BEEN AN ENORMOUS FACTOR FOR THE EMOTIONS EVOKE FROM THE PERCEPTION OF ARCHITECTURE. THIS RESEARCH IS FOCUS ON THE IDEAS OF ALTERING THE PEOPLE’S PERCEPTION TOWARDS COLOUR. THE MISGUIDED PRECONCEPTION OF BRINGING BACK THE ‘MISSING COLOURS’, WOULD ALSO BRINGING BACK THE NOSTALGIA. THIS RESEARCH IS TO EXPLORE ON STRATEGIES OF THE COLOURS USAGE IN THE CITY AND THE EMOTIONS EVOKE FROM DIFFERENT COLOUR SCHEME USAGE IN THE CITY.

INSPIRED BY THE SHAPE OF A HOME, A 20’ X 8’ X 8.6’ STANDARD CONTAINER WILL CUT INTO HALF WITH 2:3 RATIO. BY SPILTING IT INTO DIFFERENT LEVEL AND BY ADDING 2 FULL 20’ X 8’ X8.6’ STANDARD CONTAINER THAT ACT AS A PUBLIC SHARED SPACE, 2 BASIC MODULES WERE FORMED. ALSO, ANOTHER HALF OF A CUT CONTAINER IS ADDED TO ALLOCATE MORE PRIVATE ROOM SPACES. THE CONTAINER IS PERMITTED TO STACK FOR MORE THAN 4 LEVELS, SO THAT MAKES IT 23 TYPES OF MODULAR CONFIGURATION TO BE ASSEMBLE AT REDEVELOPMENT SITES LOCATED WITHIN LONDON CITY.`

The office renovation that wants to go for industrial concept as client requested. To match the concept, the ceiling panel is removed and the roof and ceilign truss is exposed. The lighting is then hang onto the truss directly and it also increases ceiling height. The material selected is concrete brick and wall paint, to achieve a rough texture visual. The layout has to arranged to park on the side wall to achieve maximum seatings as requested.

This design proposal goes for openness and transparency. For the layout, the dining area is placed at the centre. Partition used is mainly for areas separation. Glass partition is used at the kitchen to separate them from living room but also giving visual interaction in between user of those 2 spaces.
