P O R T F O L I O KSENIIA ONEGINA SELECTED WORKS 2013 - 2018
« Perhaps the most difficult and yet essential in architecture is simplicity. The simplicity of the shapes obliges to give them beautiful proportions and correlations that would convey the necessary harmony. »

The site is located on the banks of the river. Central themes of the proposal were grouping the new buildings, so that as many as possible apartments would have a river view and at the same time a favorable positioning towards the sun. The area is divided into zones: individual houses east of the town, a pedestrian zone, green yard zone, a rectangle artificial lake.

It was necessary to create 4 pavilions with different flora. My volume is made of wood and iron guides. The whole construction rests on columns along the perimeter, each pavilion also has supports around its perimeter and a ÂŤbicycle wheelÂť construction in the hole at the top.

The union of all the rooms in a closed line around the inner courtyard. The main body of the house features a simple two-storey asymmetrical pitched roof structure. The roof and external first floor walls are wrapped in a continuous skin of steel expanded mesh that articulates the form of the upper volume. The homogenous appearance of the surface conceals gutters, eaves and other traditional architectural elements resulting in clean, crisp detailing. The ground floor is public, opening the sliding doors can connect coutyard with surronding area and there is also a large workshop. The second floor is private. The six-bedroom home enjoys expansive views to the south and west over the river. The third floor includes the chilren’s playground and sport area.

‘Wall - house’ consists of seven terraced sections. By stacking and shifting apartments, I was able to maximize views, sunlight and privacy within a high-density urban environment. This clever offsetting of spaces stretches the relative distance between apartments and offers a large variety of outdoor space. This project embraces sustainability measures such as alternative energy generation, low temperature heating, grey water recycling and green roofs.
