H.I.T BOOT CAMP
Aqua Jogging One of our most popular classes, ideal for everyone from the casual user to high performance athletes. Aqua Jogging is literally, running in deep water! Participants wear a flotation belt around their waists to keep their head and shoulders above the water ensuring a great and safe non-impact interval workout.
Body Attack If you want to work hard to motivating music and reach outstanding fitness goals you must try Body Attack. This is an energetic, high calorie burning, easy to follow choreographed workout based on aerobic and athletic movements to inspirational music. This includes conditioning sections for upper body, arms, abs and legs.
Body Pump The ultimate conditioning class for both males & females and it really does change the shape of your body. Part of the Les Mills programmes from New Zealand. Body Pump has been proven to be the world’s fastest way to get in shape. Using a barbell and inter-changable weights you will condition and strengthen the whole of the body. Work to your own limits. Core Vinyasa Yoga A dynamic flow yoga with strong focus on flexibility and core training. This style of yoga simplifies how to access and use the “deep core� efficiently, to gain the maximum benefits of yoga. Vinyasa Yoga is really popular with both Yoga enthusiasts and athetles
Fit For Life A very popular and easy to follow low impact, conditioning class. Suitable for those new to exercise or for those who want to avoid too much impact.
H.I.T. Bootcamp HIT (High Intensity Training) Bootcamp is a mega body blast and there are options for all levels of fitness. This Bootcamp style of training will give you alternative ways to boost cardio and strength gains.
FITSTEPS FITSTEPS brings you a workout from the wonderful world of dance to give you a full body workout which is kind on the body yet will make you sweat and smile. FITSTEPS has been created by Ian Waite & Natalie Lowe from TV Show Strictly Come Dancing. Fitsteps takes very basic moves from the dances from the TV Show (such as the cha, cha, cha, Quickstep, Waltz, jive, Tango, American Smooth etc) and blends them into a unique, fun filled dance workout. The UL Sport Arena has been one of the first and most successful venues in Ireland to launch this dance fitness programme.
H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training) H.I.I.T. aims to bring participants a varied interval training workout, using different equipment, via different styles and training methods, such as use of bar-bell and weights, indoor cycling, running patterns, boxing and athletic training. No two sessions are the same. HIIT is an efficient use of training time and really suits all levels.
Indoor Cycling Indoor cycling training gives you an effective cardio, endurance & strength workout, simulating a workout out on the open road (with the comfort of being indoors), hill climbs, sprints and undulating terrain. Your instructor will lead you through the workout which you can perform at your own desired level. Excellent way of training without impact on joints. Cycle to uplifting music.
Beginners Indoor Cycling A relaxed environment in which you as a beginner can ‘get on your bike’ and get used to indoor cycling, taking your time, at your own pace.
INSANITY Are you ready to up your fitness game? You may have tried INSANITY the home DVD workout now INSANITY LIVE has launched on to the global fitness market and our instructors are amongst the very first in Ireland to be officially trained to bring it to you. INSANITY is interval training which is varied, exciting and will raise your heart rates up to the roof. The LIVE workout differs to the DVD in that there are multiple options and modifications and you can work intensely, safely but ‘insanely’ to bring your fitness and body shape to a whole new level. Track Attack* Track Attack is a unique circuit training experience which takes place on our Indoor suspended jogging track. Interval training where you work at your own pace. Push yourself as hard (or as little) as you want to – this makes it ideal for all levels of fitness as you work through different stations and activities. Whatever your fitness goals are Track Attack can help to get you there. You perform an exercise and move along the ‘track’ to the next station with our instructor encouraging you all the way.
Campus Run* Group running is a fun way to motivate people to keep up their exercise routine, meet up with other like minded people, run together, share training and running tips or just enjoy the camaraderie. New runners are welcome to attend. We’re a friendly bunch so please come and join Campus Run and keep your exercise routine fresh and rewarding. We welcome all abilities, from those at walking stage, up to a very high standard and everyone will improve with programmes from our experienced running coach who has completed 40+ marathons and a number of ultra endurance events. You’ll make new friends and look forward to weekly catch-ups, meaning you’re less likely to miss a session. You can share advice and experience and improve your times – you may think you’re not competitive but running with others will make you faster. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin-inspired and popular music to the mix and you’ve got a Zumba class.
Komplete Kettlebells Kettlebell workouts engage hundreds of muscles at once resulting in a calorie-burning cardio workout that builds lean muscle while strengthening your core. Most exercises involve swinging a kettlebell (round cast-iron weights with handles) in different directions, alternating the left and the right hands, to work the upper body and core while doing lower-body moves like lunges and squats. If you want a full-body workout without spending a lot of time, this is perfect. These workouts can be challenging but the new shape you will achieve will make them worth the effort. 1-1 PERSONAL TRAINING Receive a truly customized workout experience and train 1-on-1 with a UL Sport personal trainer. Learn how to safely and effectively work out so you don’t waste time at the gym with little or no results. Your trainer will motivate you, track your progress and ensure you complete each exercise with good technique thereby maximising training effects and preventing injury. These sessions are fun but also get results.
PARTNER TRAINING (2 INDIVIDUALS) If your cash flow is not quite up to personal training or if you prefer working out with someone why not grab a friend and split the cost of training! A UL Sport Personal Trainer will work with you and your partner to design a workout program that will challenge both of you. These sessions are a great, budget-friendly option that add an additional layer of motivation to your training.
SMALL GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING Why not train with some friends or bring a couple of family members. Our UL Sport Personal trainers will train up to 4 people at a time. You will still get plenty of attention as the group is small and sometimes having a bit of competition among friends is very motivating. The trainer can still include exercises that focus on the individual needs of each person but of course in a group there can’t be quite as much individualisation as 1-1.

Health Assessment - Evaluate To Succeed A Health assessment gives you the opportunity to review your physical condition based on a wide range of health measurements. A health assessment can be booked by both members and non members. All assessments are accompanied by a complete breakdown and analysis of results. Group Bookings Would you like to bring a group to the Health and Performance Centre to gain the benefits of exercise? Group bookings cater for max numbers of 15 per group. Instructor available on request. A session with an instructor will include demonstrations of appropriate exercise techniques, enabling you to maximise your workout experience. Times available during off peak hours.
Teen Gym Many parents still worry that tough training may stunt a child’s growth however it is important to stress that research does not back this up. In fact individuals who train with weights are on average 1.5cm taller. Stronger bodies are less likely to be injured and it is very important that youngsters learn exactly how to perform a training programme correctly. It is impossible to place too much emphasis on learning the correct technique in each exercise and this is something that will ensure that optimum progression can occur over time. A consent form must be signed in advance by a parent / guardian for all individuals 14-16 years that wish to attend the Health and Performance Centre.
Strength and Conditioning Courses These courses run throughout the year in 4 week blocks. Courses are suitable for all levels from beginners to advanced. Beginners are always welcome! Our instructor will tell you exactly what you need to do and how to do it, motivating you to get the best out of your training and yourself. Classes take place on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 13:00-14:00 or 17:00-18:00. Each course is four weeks in duration with the option of two or three one hour sessions per week. Book now to secure your place as we only take a maximum of 12 people in each class.

Team Fitness Testing Being fit is an element that a team can never do without. In order to maximise your team’s potential you must know where their fitness levels currently lie. As a result the Sports Science Team here at UL Sport will decide on the most beneficial tests specific to your sport. We offer a tailored package of tests to monitor and progress your team’s fitness. The UL Sport Arena Fitness testing services are available to teams from all sports and are accompanied by a complete breakdown and analysis of results. Included in the Arena’s comprehensive range are tests in the areas of strength, power, body composition, energy systems and a whole lot more. Sports fitness testing is essential to: Identify weaknesses Monitor progress Provide feedback Educate coaches and athletes Predict performance potential Evaluating your results with UL Sport staff will ensure that your team receives maximum benefit from the experience. All tests should be combined with at least one retest so that your team’s progress can be measured.

Ireland’s Largest All-Weather Floodlit Facility
This multi-purpose fully floodlit all weather synthetic grass park contains 2 full size 3rd Generation soccer pitches, 1 full size 3rd Generation rugby pitch and a full size 3G GAA pitch. This is the largest artificial grass development in Ireland to date designed to IRB, GAA and FIFA specifications.
The 3G All Weather surface plays like natural grass and is designed for full contact. In addition to the state of the art playing fields, there is a Sports Pavilion which includes a Reception Area, 8 changing rooms (all with underfloor heating), 2 squad meeting rooms and The Pavilion Bar & Restaurant.

The UL Sport Adventure Centre in Killaloe is a tremendous addition to the campus sports facilities for our students and staff and also the general public. Situated on the sheltered shores of Lough Derg, two miles outside the picturesque town of Killaloe, it is an ideal location for outdoor activities such as Sailing, Windsurfing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Archery and Orienteering. Also on offer is the challenging High Ropes Course and an exciting new Rock Climbing Tower. The award winning Centre is renowned for School Tours, Kids Adventure Camps and Skills Courses.
