LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Welcome to another wondrous season at Grounds For Sculpture. This year marks our 10th anniversary as a not-for-profit organization. As part of the celebration, we want to thank you all, the extraordinary businesses, foundations and state agencies and our faithful members and private donors who have supported the park over the years. Your generosity along with that of our visionary founder has made it possible for us to further a mission of making contemporary sculpture accessible to a wider, more diverse and growing public. Many of you may recall when the park first opened its doors and hosted its inaugural exhibition which showcased a handful of sculptures in our new 16-acre park. Today, there are more than 250 sculptures on 35 acres, and each season new pieces are added to the park. We’re particularly excited about our spring/summer exhibitions, featuring the work of legendary artist Keith Haring and the internationally acclaimed Chakaia Booker, plus our annual Focus on Sculpture photography exhibit and our debut exhibition of members’ artwork. As we move into this 10th year as a not-for-profit organization, there is tremendous excitement and a renewed focus on providing even more ways to engage you, our faithful patrons. We have added docent-led full moon tours (once the weather turns warm), opportunities to picnic in the park, numerous concerts and special events, monthly workshops celebrating our history and artists in the park. For the first time ever, we’re offering free admission Tuesdays through Thursdays in the month of January and in recognition of this special anniversary year free admission on the 10th of every month plus 10% discounts in our shops. Oh, and the 10th visitor on those days is in for a treat. We hope that you will join us many times this season and bring your friends and family too. David Miller

It was 10 years ago that GFS opened its gates to the general public, began a membership program, and started an exciting line-up of educational and entertainment workshops and events. Ten years flew by so quickly and we have seen such growth that we’re planning a year-long party for our loyal patrons as well as new friends!

Please mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate all year long!

Pop singer/songwriters Sheila Carabine and Amanda Walther have it all – talent, charisma, looks, charm, and heavenly, harmonious singing voices. And now they’ve got the buzz. After successfully wowing the audience at the Newport Folk Festival last summer, DALA has become the hottest young Canadian act on the North American music festival circuit. Think Everly Brothers meet Indigo Girls with an indie folk-pop sensibility and you have a general idea of what to expect. Not only do the girls write hip, folk-tinged pop songs that are sure to appeal to the younger generation, but they’ve endeared themselves to more seasoned audience members with their renditions of songs by Neil Young, Donovan, Joni Mitchell, Buffalo Springfield and Joan Osborne. Don’t miss this exciting duo. $15 Members; $18 Non-members: $20 Day of Show. For tickets, call (609) 586-0616.
