Workshop Details
Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
Develop skills to confidently nurture growth regarding issues connected to field conditions present with names and identity.
Practice using the theoretical models of The Gestalt Cycle of Awareness and Johari Window to address potential pitfalls that interrupt contact in the therapeutic relationship.
Identify clinical implications (working with pre-transference and countertransference) in therapy focused on the impact of describing oneself with different names.
Apply cognitive evaluation skills to address the challenges of shame, bias and internalized racism regarding one’s own and others names.
Umaa Thampu has a background in in social services and youth charities. Her interests are in working with the phenomena of racism and understanding the strong feelings somatically, emotionally and physically. Umaa's passion is enhancing people's well- being and to help cultivate meaning.
Umaa is currently in private practice and is a Faculty member of The Gestalt Centre which is based in London UK. Her current projects include delivering seminars in relation to her chapter, "Power of A Name" which is published in the BAATN Anthology, “Therapy in Colour” - published in April 2023.
