VectorWand Plugin Installation notes: Please install the vectorwand (GX07_VectorWand.aip) into the plug-ins folder of the host application. To remove, simply remove the plugin. The files to install vary from platform and version If you have Illustrator 10 / CS1 / CS2 and you are on a PC, place the top level plugin vectorWand into the plugin path If you have Illustrator 10/CS1 and you are on the macOSX, please place the plugin found in the Illustrator 10 / CS1 folder into the Illustrator 10 or CS1 plugins folder. Finally, if you are on CS2 and on a macOSX, then please place the CS2 plugin into the CS2 plugins folder.
Plugin folder: The plugin folder has varied from version to version, generally you will find it as the 'plug-ins' folder under Adobe Illustrator CS2 or Illustrator folder. Trademarks: Illustrator is registered trademark of Adobe. Photoshop is registered trademark of Adobe. We have no connection whatsoever with Adobe. Illustrator (r) plugin documentation Options: To access all the options for each tool, double click the icon or press return
Example: Fill color tool and point shifter applied Modifiers: All the tools have various modifications (while in use) where you can modify the rotation / scaling etc while using the tool by holding the shift or the ctrl / shift or command / shift keys down during use General Use: The plugins both work in the same basic way, select an object or multiple objects and then apply the brush stroke. Pen: The plugins also can be used with a pen, to apply the effect with pressure. Tools: The vectorwand plugin comes with multiple sub plugins such as point shifter, scaling, rotation, apply swatches, tints etc. Each work in their own way on their own particular paths / images etc. Most of the plugins work on paths / images / symbols etc but some such as the point shifter only work on paths (as cornerpoint etc). Some of the plugins work on a particular element such as gradients or patterns and if the path selected has no gradient or pattern, nothing will be changed (same with tint, the path must be tint-able) To apply, select the paths and then brush over the paths. The paths beneath the vectorwand shape will be changed, the others will not. [*] entries: Some of the items on the dialog have a * against them, changing them will change the setting across all the dialogs. The first dialog also has a couple of items that are applied across all dialogs but can only be changed on the first dialog (scaling) - pressure for the vectorwand size and the type of vectorwand to apply [R]: Some of the items have an R against them. This randomizes the setting. In most cases the randomization is based on 0 to the current set value, so if you want a total randomization, you will need to set the main value to a large value and then apply the randomization

Example: Fill color applied General functions of vectorwand: Brush (horizontal): Brush size for the vector wand. The brush can be thin or thick in either direction, it doesn't have to be square. Brush (vertical): brush size in the vertical Slowdown: The brush application can be fairly quick, so if you are brushing on a fill color or a style, the application will change pretty quick. If you wish to slowdown the application or change, set the slowdown to 5 or 6. To really slow the brush down, set it to 20 or 30 Selected center: Instead of using the center of the path, use the center of all the selected objects Apply or not: Apply the effect or not (randomly). Generally only effective when used with slowdown Item (pressure): Modifies the setting based on the pressure applied, so the rotation will be less or more depending of the pressure applied by a pen. Works best with an artpad and pen Vector wand (pressure): Modifies the size of the brush based on pressure. A subtle brush stroke will reduce the size of the pen from 0 to the maximum size Vectorwand dropdown. Instead of using the basic shape to apply the brushed on effects, the brushed on effect is applied to all the selected paths outside of the vectorwand shape; or different shape applications such as a ring Follow brush: Apply the effect in the direction of the brush stroke (sadly, for some reason, this doesn't work for an artpad and pen... on my test systems for some reason). Works fine with a mouse. Plugins Scaling tool: Applies scaling or size reduction or increase to selected paths or images or symbols

Translation tool: Applies a shift or jitter to paths
Rotate tool: Applies rotation to the paths.
Transparency tool: Applies transparency / fade to paths

Stroke weight: Modifies the stroke weight setting (requires a stroke setting in place), great for sketchy styles.
Intensity tool: Brightens or darkens selected paths
Fill tool: Modifies the color channels on a channel by channel basis. The first field relates to cyan or red or gray, the second to the magenta channel or green channel; the third to yellow or blue; and the last only to CMYK black. Use to darken or lighten or color illustrations. The plugin also creates swatches based on the current color. Works best using slowdown to slow down the generation of swatches / fill changes. The swatches are based on the current color set for each path. The plugin generally should only create unique swatches and not repeat colors (this is not always the case)

Style tool: Apply selected style (depends on order in palette) or factor (you can use either or both). Requires some pre-setup of the graphic styles palette and can be slow if the style is processor intensive.
Blend modes tool: Applies a random blend mode or selected blending mode
Color reducer tool: blurs / reduces the colors to an average of the selected colors. Modify the reduce value to control the blending speed. Plugin also creates swatches from the colors used (these are not unique swatches at present - so you might find duplications)

Corner Points tool: Modifies the in and out settings of the points (if a square this will have no effect). More useful for circular paths. Only works with paths, not symbols etc
Swatches tool: Apply color from the swatches palette. Requires some pre-setup of the swatches palette. Based on the order in the swatches palette
Tint tool: Applies tint, though this is only useful for paths that can be tinted

Gradients tool: Requires a gradient to be already set. Apply modification to the gradient changing the length / angle etc Depends on the gradient type, hilite only works with radial gradients. Angle only works with linear. The hilite of the gradient depends on the length.
Patterns tool: Requires a pattern to be set. The tool manipulates the angle as well as the scaling of a pattern

Quick shrink too: Lens like plugin, scaling based on the centre of the brush size
Point shifter tool: Works only on paths. Drags path points in the shift direction, though you can alter the direction to match the brush stroke by setting follow brush to ON. The plugin can also create warped shapes designs as well as bloat / punk effects using the direction points ON. The strength of the point shifting can be modified by the pressure applied as well as the actual color of the paths
