The Restoration of Buile Hill Mansion
The Buile Hill Mansion Association was formed in early 2018 with the aim of reopening the Mansion. Our biggest step forward happened in mid to late 2021 when remedial work started on the Mansion and then in December 2021, plans for the Mansion were revealed to the public.
Salford’s Registry Office will move from the Civic Centre in Swinton into the first and second floors to register births, marriages, and deaths and provide a unique venue for events.

The building will be made fully accessible and a new car park on part of the depot site will serve the Mansion, Buile Hill Park banqueting suite, and the park itself.
Salford City Council and the Buile Hill Mansion Association have worked together on the plans which will go forward for planning permission early in the year. Once approved, work is expected to start later in 2022 and due to be completed in December 2023.
The Mansion Association is currently restoring the Mansion’s former ‘Garden for the blind’ back to a sensory garden and will host weekly wellbeing sessions every Sunday from 10 am until 12 pm in the garden as well as other regular community events.
