Home-Start Trafford, Salford and Wigan:

SUPPORTING FAMILIES AND CHANGING CHILDREN’S FUTURES

“My volunteer was the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. She’s the reason my daughter has the mum she has today.”

Home-Start is one of Greater Manchester’s leading family support charities, working with parents and their children in local communities across Salford.

In an ideal world you wouldn’t need a charity like Home-Start. Parents would be able to bring up their children free of stress and difficulties. But issues such as poverty, lack of family support networks, poor mental health, illness and disabilities can make parenting a challenge.

This is where Home-Start steps in; it recruits and trains local people as home-visiting volunteers, who visit a family at home weekly, offering a mix of non-judgmental emotional and practical support.

By giving the gift of time, a shoulder to cry on, a practical pair of hands, or a listening ear, you could help to literally change the lives of Salford families.

We train all of our volunteers before they are matched to their first family, which means that all of our volunteers are fully prepared. But it’s not rocket science, what we look for is people who have parenting experience and the willingness to offer a couple of hours each week to a local family.

Our next training course will run in January 2023 Dates: 10th and 24th Jan

Venue: Salford City Rooster, Moat Hall, Hallworth Road, Eccles, M30 7LS

Time: 9:30am – 2:45pm
