Halloween Mulled Wine Recipe
Traditionally, mulled wine is a fall and winter favourite when the weather turns frosty. Halloween is a great time to share this warm and spicy treat. This recipe, called Banshee Mulled Wine is sure to please the taste buds of every witch and ghoul.
Banshee Mulled Wine
Ingredients: 1 bottle Red Wine (preferred is Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Spanish Red, or Zinfandel) 2/3 cup Cognac or Brandy ½ cup Water ½ cup Sugar 1 Lemon peeled and sliced (save peel for zest) 1 Orange peeled and sliced (save peel for zest) 3 sticks Cinnamon 5 Cloves (whole) 2 teaspoons Ginger (ground) 1 teaspoon Nutmeg (ground)
Directions: Prep time 5 minutes. In a crock pot or large sauce pan mix all ingredients including orange and lemon peel. Heat on medium low about 20 to 25 minutes and do not allow mixture to boil. Stir frequently making sure all sugar or honey is completely dissolved. When the mulled wine is steaming it is ready to enjoy. Pour into mugs through small strainer to remove spices and fruit pieces. Garnish your creation with plastic Halloween tricks and a blood orange and Happy Trick or Treat! Total Time: 25 to 30 minutes. Prep time 5 minutes.
