RUSSELL LANDS ANNOUNCES NEW LAKE CLUB ON LAKE MARTIN
LAKE MARTIN, AL (May 10, 2023) – Russell Lands has announced its plans to build the only multi-use waterfront lake club on Lake Martin. e new facility, e Benjamin Lake Club, will be located in Russell Lands’ newest lakefront development, e Heritage. e Benjamin promises to provide a wide variety of amenities to e Heritage property owners. e facility will be centrally located within the community and will enjoy an elevated view of a beautiful and peaceful Lake Martin cove surrounded by Heritage residential properties. e facility will consist of a two-story clubhouse with meeting and event space, an owner’s bar, catering kitchen, expansive tness center, aerobic/yoga room, and locker rooms. Adjacent to the clubhouse and tness center will be a resort-style pool with a large covered and uncovered pool deck, poolside snack bar, and lakeview terrace.
e Benjamin will have extensive outdoor features including a beach, waterfront event lawns, repits, amphitheater, and community docks. On the upland portion of the clubhouse property are additional event lawns, eight tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, and a tennis pro shop. e Heritage, with its 1,500 acres and 12 miles of shoreline, will provide approximately 250 waterfront and 150 water-access properties. “We are excited how e Benjamin Lake Club will enhance the lifestyle and use of e Heritage,” said Russell Lands’ Chief Executive O cer, Tom Lamberth. “ e lake club will allow property owners a beautiful place to spend quality recreational time with family, friends, and neighbors.” e Heritage community is also the location of the nearly complete Coore & Crenshaw- designed golf course. e course is the central feature of the private Wicker Point Golf Club. e Coore & Crenshaw team is arguably the world’s most sought-a er design team. e new course will be their rst in Alabama.
e lake club, which is an exclusive amenity for e Heritage, will be world-class as well. To ensure that quality, Atlanta-based architecture rm, Cooper Carry, was selected to design e Benjamin. eir team, led by Pope Bullock, has extensive experience designing resort-style amenities. Russell Lands has successfully created numerous waterfront communities on Lake Martin, such as Willow Point, e Ridge, and Trillium. As those communities have matured and completed their sales cycles, it was time to create a new community. With thousands of acres of land and hundreds of miles of shoreline to choose from, Russell Lands decided to create a special community on a less-active portion of the 41,000-acre lake. e Heritage development began in 2021 with the rst phase of residential property released in 2022. Forty-eight homesites have sold to date, and the much-anticipated second phase is scheduled to be released this June.
Site crews will commence work on e Benjamin this summer with the completion and opening scheduled for spring of 2025.
