O
pening Nights is pleased to welcome you to a great evening of vocal power covering popular standards, classic rhythm and blues numbers, and spiritual songs with Patti LaBelle. Ms. LaBelle’s career spans 58-years following her first single that reached the Billboard Top 40 on the pop and R&B charts in 1963. This was followed by two more classic songs in 1964—”You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Danny Boy.” Labelle, as her group was then known, went on to make pop history by becoming the first rock and roll vocal group to perform at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House. With the success of the song “Lady Marmalade” and the Nightbirds album, Labelle made the cover of Rolling Stone in 1975. Following the above successes, Ms. LaBelle began a solo career surrounding herself with vocalists and musicians that support her iconic voice.
