Of all the performing arts, opera is the most collaborative, encompassing a wide variety of skill sets. It’s far more than just music and drama. Opera can serve as a bridge, leading you into many different subjects including history, language, movement, culture, and team building — the possibilities are endless. Regardless of the subject you teach or the event you are planning, Opera Colorado’s Education & Community Programs will entertain as well as educate. We provide teachers with resources such as trainings, curriculum materials, and access to opera education specialists. Our programs are also aligned with Colorado Academic Standards. So…what can we do for you? We hope you’ll tell us… and we hope you’ll join us for a journey into the world of opera — so many amazing things can happen! Warmest Regards, Cherity and Meghan

YOUNG ARTISTS MEET THE YOUNG ARTISTS
The Opera Colorado Young Artists are at the core of our Education Programs. They are the singers that will perform in all of our In-School Programs as well as the Romeo and Juliet Student Matinee. These talented performers bring opera to thousands of people in the Rocky Mountain Region each season and are a vital part of our mission to bring opera into the community. The Young Artists stay in Denver for seven months and receive training and coaching from Opera Colorado staff and guest artists.

OPERA ON TOUR
The Opera Colorado Young Artists hit the road with abridged performances, sung in English, of two exciting operas: Carmen, back by popular demand, and the premiere of The Barber of Seville.
CARMEN
BY GEORGES BIZET GRADE LEVEL: 6TH AND UP
Back by popular demand! Join us for Bizet’s most famous opera. Carmen, a fiery Spanish rose, loves to live on the edge and uses her feminine wiles to get what she wants — but beware; play with her and you might get burned. The steadfast young soldier Don José falls hard for her charms and rashly leaves his sweetheart Micaela for a life with Carmen. But when Carmen drops him for superstar “Toreador” Escamillo, his jealousy erupts, growing into an emotional storm that could destroy them all.
THE BARBER OF SEVILLE BY GIOACHINO ROSSINI
GRADE LEVEL: ALL AGES
Figaro, Figaro, Fiiiiiigaro!! Barber by day, matchmaker by night, Figaro puts his charm to work as he helps Count Almaviva woo the beautiful Rosina. She’s such a catch that her guardian keeps her under lock and key with the intent of marrying her himself. But no challenge is too great for Figaro’s madcap schemes! Filled with some of opera’s most famous tunes, this is a comedy not to miss!
