Going to a performance at the
FringeArts Theater Relaxed Performance Pre-Visit Information
the theater I am going to the FringeArts building to see a performance. Inside the FringeArts building is the FringeArts Theater and a restaurant called La Peg Brasserie The restaurant will not be open during the Opera Philadelphia performance.
paper ticket I can either print my ticket at home and bring it to the theater or check in with my name at the check in table. If I printed my ticket at home, I do not need to go to the check in table. I can go straight to the theater doors and the usher will scan my paper ticket so I can go inside the theater.
usher Ushers are friendly helpers who will: 1. be at the entrance to the theater 2. scan my paper ticket that I printed at home 3. guide me where to go when I am in the theater if I am looking for my seat, the restroom, or any accessible performance features.
FringeArts theater The theater I will see the performance in is located down the hall from the entrance to the FringeArts building.
hallway I may have to wait in the hallway before the performance starts. The hallway might be crowded and noisy. If it is too loud, I can ask a FringeArts Theater staff member to direct me to a quieter place to wait for the performance.
bathroom The bathroom is in the hallway outside the theater. It is a gender neutral bathroom for all people. I can also ask any FringeArts Theater staff members to show me where the bathroom is. I can use the bathroom anytime during the performance.
technology Some people will be using Vibrotextile™ wearable technology during the performance. This technology is worn over the shoulders like a backpack with wristbands and anklebands. I can try wearing the technology if I want to but it is not required to see the show.
inside the theater When I go inside the theater, I will see lots of seats and a screen where the opera films will be played. Before the performance, there will be FringeArts theater staff in the theater helping audience members put on Vibrotextile™ wearable technology.
seat When I get inside the theater, I can sit in any seat that is not being taken by someone else.
chill space If I need to take a break from the show, I can go to the chill space to relax. The chill space is located at the bottom of the theater and to the left. I can still listen and see the show on a television monitor while in the chill space. I can also go outside if I want to relax and return to the show when I am ready.
clapping People will clap during the performance. People clap for short periods of time. I can wear wear plugs or headphones if the sounds is too loud.
leaving When the performance is over, the theater and hallways will be crowded with other people leaving the performance too.
