As we pause to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, we have so much to be grateful for. This has been quite the year at Operation Blessing, and whether we’re thanking God for His favor in the success of our programs, the faithfulness of our donors, or even things in our personal lives that have nothing to do with work, we can all point to things in our lives that we can thank the Lord for.
If you’re having a hard time looking on the bright side, or you’re really struggling with some things that have brought fear or anxiety in your life more than gratitude, I would encourage you to fight hard for gratitude, especially in this season. I heard about a study recently that highlighted the fact that gratitude and anxiety cannot co-exist in the brain at the same time. So, if we’re willing to praise and be grateful, even in the storms of life, we can pro-actively guard against the debilitating fear and anxiety that can so easily creep in when we shift our gaze away from the many blessings in our lives and onto the challenges or hurdles we’re facing.
I’m personally so grateful to know that God’s hand is on our organization and that he has brought to us some tremendous teammates this last year. We’ve experienced rapid change over the last 24 months, which can be unsettling, but rather than feeling uncertain, I’m more convinced now than ever that God is in the midst of our people and that we are better equipped today to do what He has called us to than perhaps at any other time in our history. We have some incredibly talented folks on our team and that gets me excited about our desire to bring help and hope to a hurting world, because I know we’ll be creative, innovative, and excellent in the way we approach the situations we’ll face in the days ahead.
I’m also thankful for the chance to stretch our ‘flexibility muscles’ as we look ahead to our coming merge with Orphan’s Promise. Will this merge be easy every day? Certainly not. Change is always challenging, but challenges cause us to grow, and I know that this move will position us to double the impact of our organization. I love a good challenge, and I know many of you feel the same way. Let’s keep an attitude of gratitude as we head into the rest of the holiday season, and a new fiscal year full of opportunity to learn and grow.

For x years, Jessica has demonstrated integrity and compassion in her work to drive our mission forward. So many of us have been blessed by her Christ-first character, displayed when she prays and leads us to the Lord in worship, and her daily character. Jessica ensures our donors and beneficiaries are cared for in her work and that our commitment to steward donor funds is the best investment for those we serve.
Operation Blessing responds to disasters globally by providing immediate and longterm relief to those affected by natural and man-made crises, especially in vulnerable communities. Our trained volunteer teams deliver essential services such as food, water, shelter, hygiene, and medical aid to alleviate suffering. Beyond immediate relief, we assist in rebuilding lives through damage restoration, infrastructure rebuilding, and livelihood revitalization. Rooted in a Christcentered approach, we cultivate compassionate, service-oriented communities dedicated to practical assistance.
