PREFACE TO THE SUMMER FESTIVAL Anton Balazek, M.A., mayor of the Municipality of Lendava
Dear Sir or Madam, Tourism is an important branch of economy with a series of positive synergic effects which may contribute to the development of enterprises, especially family business, reduce social distress in Pomurje and help preserving nature and culture. The intersection of four countries is an intersection of different cultures, nations and culinary specialities that share the same history and future. Multiculturalism could become an important piece of the puzzle in Lendava’s tourism, for it combines all of the mentioned resources and preserves a number of traditional events which are waiting to be included into our wide tourist offer. Single segment of this offer which includes numerous events, a rich choice of food, culture, nature, etc. have been collected and included into the Summer Festival Programme. One of the most echoing events is the Bogračfest which has grown into a culinary festival. Our urban scene will be lighten up by the following numerous events which will take place until September’s second half. We wish you lots of fun and a pleasant stay in our town.

Lendava invites to an exhibition of newly created small bronze statues made at the 39th International Art Colony Lendava 2011 – casting in bronze – which will decorate the »loft gallery« of the Lendava castle. 7 sculptors took part in the International Art Colony: Ferenc Király and Dušan Tršar from Slovenia, Györfi Sándor, Lebó Ferenc, Lipovics János, Szunyogh László from Hungary and Mihael Štebig from Croatia. PREMIERE OF THE THEATRICAL GROUP EGY & MÁS VÁNDORSZÍNHÁZ Lendava – Theatre and Concert Hall Lendava 17 September 2011 at 7 p.m.
Lendava invites to a theatrical performance, the premiere of Mihály Kornis’s drama Körmagyar (adaptation of A. Schnitzer’s work Circle dance). This play will be performed by the Hungarian theater group EGY & MÁS VÁNDORSZINHÁZ from Lendava. The play is about ten intimate relationships connected into a grotesque – comic whole. A few typical figures and characters of today’s distorted society will be presented in everyday life situations. The Institute for the Culture of Hungarian Nationality invites you to see their play.

Within the »Lendava invites« project in August we will choose the most beautiful settlement in the municipality. The acknowledgement will go to the settlement which has the best visual image and takes good care of our cultural and historic heritage, protects the environment and is rational with using energy sources, cares about horticulture and other.
