MIXED CASE

This pairing of back-to-back vintages of the same Grand Cru is an interesting insight into two different expressions of the same site from two disparate years: a textbook 2020 and a more trying 2021, which nonetheless yielded high-quality, if much smaller than average, crop. While at different stages, both wines are clearly showing their excellent pedigree.

Chardonnay

Light to medium yellow in appearance. A very different, more developed aromatic theme here – savoury, bouillon notes, cabbage rolls, citrus oil and yellow fruit. Equal in statue to its twin, it is also extra dry, has a medium acidity, soft texture, high extract and full body, the same lovely length and intensity yet with its own set of flavours mirroring the nose – savoury, notes of bouillon, chalky, nutty, with, again, a hint of Mirabelle plum. Spring vegetable risotto

Chardonnay

This Grand Cru is fermented in second- and third-use oak, keeping its influence light and well in check. Light to medium yellow in appearance, it leads with primary floral aromas, followed by fresh and jellied quince, nuts, chalk and thistle milk. Its breeding is evident in the well-structured palate: extra dry with medium acidity, soft texture, high extract and full body, good length and lovely floral, quince, nuts and chalk replays with a yellow plum note too.
