La Fundación

La Fundación Gloria Kriete, constituida en diciembre de 2004 a iniciativa de los siete hijos de doña Gloria, es una organización sin fines de lucro, que nace principalmente para perpetuar la memoria de Doña Gloria y trascender en las nuevas generaciones el espíritu altruista con el cual ella vivió.

Durante estos 19 años, en la Fundación Gloria Kriete hemos impactado a más de 3,200,000 de salvadoreños en salud, educación, formación para el empleo, desarrollo comunitario, emprendimiento, tecnología, innovación y medio ambiente.

En la Fundación creemos que todos los seres humanos merecen las herramientas para luchar en igualdad de oportunidades y así cambiar su condición de vida y la de su entorno.

A medida que los profundos desafíos sociales nos exigen encontrar formas de movilizar nuestros recursos, buscando soluciones efectivas a largo plazo; puedo decir que encontramos el camino correcto con un enfoque colaborativo y estratégico. La comprensión compartida de los problemas clave y los indicadores de éxito de este enfoque nos ha permitido realizar la inversión social necesaria para mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas en situaciones vulnerables.

Estamos ante un cambio de paradigma que podría mejorar mucho cómo abordamos los retos más difíciles del mundo. Actores en todos los sectores de la sociedad están rompiendo con sus roles históricamente definidos, fusionando ganancias y propósitos para forjar nuevos caminos; todo en beneficio de las personas.

No tengo la menor duda que la sociedad se beneficia mejor cuando todas las partes trabajamos juntos y cuando se logra reconocer la contribución que las organizaciones benéficas y sin fines de lucro; y las ADESCOS significan para el crecimiento económico y social.

En Oportunidades hemos creado, junto a nuestros aliados, un currículo que nos permite capacitar a los jóvenes en habilidades y competencias que los prepara para el futuro con metodologías de enseñanza y aprendizajes innovadores con las tecnologías disruptivas que utilizamos.

Lo esencial de la innovación social es que consiste en un proceso que busca identificar necesidades concretas para ofrecer respuestas que puedan comprobar su eficacia y replicarlas una vez la haya demostrado. Con Ayudando A Quienes Ayudan, logramos financiar y aportar herramientas que empujan a mejorar la capacidad para generar impacto.

Tanto los programas permanentes, como los que apoyamos, en diferentes sectores sociales, son iniciativas que están marcado una diferencia en las vidas de innumerables personas.

Programas Administrados

Hace 19 años nació la Fundación Gloria Kriete con la visión de apoyar iniciativas sociales existentes, mediante programas diseñados para colaborar con otras instituciones; estableciendo alianzas estratégicas con organizaciones afines para financiar proyectos de manera continua. Actualmente, la FGK opera tres programas permanentes y seis apoyados en curso junto a otras ejecutoras.

Programa Oportunidades

Desde su inicio en 2007, el Programa Oportunidades tiene como misión empoderar a la juventud salvadoreña de recursos limitados, proporcionando herramientas para transformar sus vidas y entorno. El propósito es disminuir la brecha educativa, formando ciudadanos íntegros y capacitados para afrontar los desafíos que se les presenten. Su metodología combina conocimientos técnicos y habilidades blandas, ofreciendo una currícula innovadora adaptada a las demandas tecnológicas actuales. Actualmente, es el único programa que brinda excelencia académica complementaria, formación integral superior y acceso a empleabilidad; guiando a los jóvenes a través de tres fases con acompañamiento de profesionales.

COMPLEMENTO ACADÉMICO

Se acompaña a cada joven por 2 o 3 años con conocimientos técnicos vocacionales y en valores que lo preparan para su carrera universitaria, combinando conocimientos en inglés, programación, valores, orientación vocacional, formación ciudadana y para el empleo.

BECAS DE ESTUDIOS SUPERIORES Y ACOMPAÑAMIENTO

Se otorgan becas para carreras de larga duración o técnicas y se acompaña a cada joven con coaches calificados para asegurar un rendimiento académico exitoso.

Actividades

Herramientas de salud mental en la educación post COVID-19

Esta actividad buscó brindar a educadores y profesionales en general, las herramientas necesarias y estrategias prácticas para abordar los desafíos de salud mental post COVID-19, incluyendo la identificación de signos de problemas de salud mental en los estudiantes o equipos de trabajo, apoyando con la resiliencia, el bienestar emocional y el fomento de la salud mental positiva.

Graduaciones Oportunidades Class 2023

La Fundación Gloria de Kriete y la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID) graduaron a 275 jóvenes del Programa Oportunidades que completaron sus estudios correspondientes a la primera fase del programa en las cuatro sedes a nivel nacional.

Evento educación financiera con Aflatoun

Fundación Gloria Kriete, en conjunto con Aflatoun, realizaron un evento de educación financiera donde se resaltó la relevancia de desarrollar hábitos de crecimiento económico desde una edad temprana. Su enfoque se centró en la necesidad de inculcar una mentalidad de inversión y ahorro entre los jóvenes, para que puedan construir bases sólidas para su futuro financiero.

Convivio Intercentros 2023

Se realizó con el objetivo de que los jóvenes de la Fase I del Programa Oportunidades compartieran experiencias y momentos de convivencia. La celebración se hace año con año y esta vez reunió a 811 estudiantes de las diferentes sedes del programa ubicadas en San Salvador, Sonsonate, Santa Ana y San Miguel.

Programa de Mentorías

La Fundación Gloria Kriete y PBS El Salvador unieron esfuerzos para capacitar a 21 jóvenes del Programa Oportunidades con un Plan de Mentorías. Durante cuatro meses, colaboradores de PBS guiaron a estos jóvenes, no solo en aspectos profesionales, sino también en su crecimiento personal, impulsando habilidades y talentos. Este esfuerzo conjunto refleja el compromiso de ambas instituciones de crear oportunidades laborales significativas para los jóvenes.

Cumbre de presidentes de Gobiernos Estudiantiles Oportunidades 2023-2024

Fue un evento que reunió a jóvenes líderes de gobiernos estudiantiles para compartir logros, discutir desafíos y establecer una agenda de trabajo conjunta. En estas cumbres, los jefes de Estado o de Gobierno de los Estados participantes fijaron las prioridades de la Organización y brindaron orientación sobre su labor en los años subsiguientes.

Expo U y Conexiones para el Empleo

Más de 500 jóvenes salvadoreños participaron en la “EXPO U”, un espacio donde se reunieron las principales universidades del país para dar a conocer su oferta académica y programas de becas. La respuesta abrumadora de los asistentes reflejó el deseo de la juventud de El Salvador de acceder a una educación superior de calidad.

El segundo día del Oportunidades Fest atrajo a interesados en charlas informativas sobre estrategias para la búsqueda de empleo exitosa y oportunidades en el campo tecnológico.

Class 2018 San Salvador Modalidad tiempo completo

Douglas esta recientemente graduado de licenciado en economía y negocios, MAGNA CUM LAUDE, fue estudiante del programa Oportunidades de la promoción 2018, San Salvador, Tiempo Completo. Actualmente, trabaja como analista de supervisión en la Comisión Nacional de Activos Digitales, una entidad gubernamental que vela por un mercado eficiente en el mundo de las tokenizaciones y criptomonedas. Sin embargo, llegar hasta a este punto de la vida ha sido el resultado de años de esfuerzo de su familia, conformada por su madre y hermano, de quienes tuvo el apoyo incondicional para un tener un título de educación superior. El valor adicional que el Programa Oportunidades de la Fundación Gloria Kriete ha sido fundamental ya que reforzaron asignaturas como informática o matemáticas y potenciaron el aprendizaje de inglés, para luego llegar a tener una beca en la Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios (ESEN) de donde hoy se ha graduado.

Katherine es una joven graduada de la Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado. Actualmente es analista de proyectos de investigación de mercado, lo que ha permitido obtener méritos y logros en su vida, aprendiendo a creer en sí misma, incluso cuando las circunstancias familiares y económicas eran desfavorables. Reconoce que no siempre ha obtenido todo lo que deseaba, pero valora las experiencias, buenas y malas, que la han ayudado a crecer personalmente.

En el programa Oportunidades, aprendí valiosas lecciones, como la importancia del trabajo en equipo y la resiliencia. A pesar de dificultades económicas y de salud, logré sobresalir académicamente. Oportunidades abrió nuevas puertas para mi futuro, incluyendo la creación de un emprendimiento exitoso presentado en la Feria de Logros 2023 y la obtención de dos becas para estudiar en la ESEN y en Harding University en Arkansas, Estados Unidos, gracias al apoyo del equipo del programa me preparo para un cambio de vida significativo en otro país.

Programa Ayudando A Quienes Ayudan

El Programa Ayudando A Quienes Ayudan de la Fundación Gloria Kriete se destaca como una de las iniciativas sociales más influyentes en El Salvador. Con su enfoque, busca generar un impacto colectivo para el desarrollo social, involucrando sectores clave en la resolución de diversas problemáticas que abarcan desde la educación y salud hasta el abastecimiento de agua potable, seguridad alimentaria, infraestructura y protección ambiental. Esta iniciativa dirige sus fondos en tres áreas estratégicas: ONG, Emprendimiento Social y Desarrollo Comunitario. Además, el programa ha implementado un eje formativo que abarca proyectos comunitarios y emprendimientos sociales. Este eje formativo tiene como objetivos potenciar el ecosistema emprendedor, facilitando el crecimiento de modelos de negocios sociales, y formar líderes comunitarios, fortaleciendo sus habilidades en la gestión de proyectos sociales.

Incubadora Empresarial

En el 2023 el proceso de incubación, además de la formación online impartida por un proveedor internacional y asesorías personalizadas por mentores expertos, incluyó talleres presenciales para abordar temáticas de interés como propuesta de valor, plan de marketing y precios, proyecciones financieras, un taller de Elevator pitch, adicional como actividad de cierre, los emprendedores participaron en una feria de emprendimientos donde tuvieron la oportunidad de dar a conocer sus productos y realizar conexiones con otros sectores relacionados.

Los becarios recibieron 16 semanas de incubación y cursaron 8 módulos con temas diversos para realización de su plan de negocios bajo el enfoque de emprendimiento social.

Talleres de Empoderamiento y Liderazgo Comunitario

El objetivo es fortalecer capacidades de líderes y lideresas de las comunidades rurales y que a través de la gestión de proyectos sociales puedan promover cambios significativos en sus comunidades.

Se formaron personas de 15 ADESCOS:

▷ 8 ADESCOS de la zona oriental formados en alianza con PADECOMSM.

▷ 7 ADESCOS de la zona occidental formados con la metodología de FORTAS-FUSADES.

Al final del proceso formativo 48 personas finalizaron con éxito su proceso formativo.

Como joven emprendedora, el ser parte de los proyectos receptores de fondos, me ha permitido visualizar con mayor enfoque el rumbo de FUNGIPI, para poder integrar los conocimientos, y los beneficios de estos programas, FUNGIPI se desarrollará modificando y ajustando la estructura administrativa, jurídico y productiva, no solo en un ámbito comercial, si no, también de provecho para apoyar a la sociedad salvadoreña.

Empezaremos formalizando la sociedad y emitiendo los permisos correspondientes, paralelamente ofertando los productos salientes de la modificación del área de producción.

Hace más de cinco años, la Fundación Gloria Kriete se comprometió a emplear la tecnología para reducir las brechas sociales, colaborando con destacados socios internacionales y consolidándose como líder local en representación de diversas plataformas digitales. La Fundación Gloria Kriete tiene presente la importancia que significa la colaboración con iniciativas sociales mediante programas diseñados para trabajar junto a otras instituciones. Programa Kodigo

Kodigo es un emprendimiento social que busca acelerar el aprendizaje y fomentar el pensamiento creativo en tecnología entre los jóvenes. Ofrece un programa de formación de 3 a 6 meses con un modelo de financiación llamado Acuerdo de Ingresos Compartidos (AIC), donde el estudiante paga una vez obtiene empleo. Además, colabora con empresas tecnológicas para desarrollar programas de capacitación profesional, pasantías y proyectos de responsabilidad social empresarial a través de becas y apadrinamiento.

El Developers Summit, realizado el 20 de octubre de 2023, reunió a comunidades asociadas a Kodigo para potenciar el aprendizaje e innovación. Las comunidades compartieron experiencias como emprendimientos y proyectos, fortaleciendo el networking entre desarrolladores. La presencia de empresarios invitados en el área TECH generó vínculos e inspiración para los jóvenes asistentes.

Webinars con Aliados para potenciar la Empleabilidad

Kodigo se unió a varios webinars con aliados para respaldar las habilidades de empleabilidad en los bootcamps. Expertos en reclutamiento y coaching tecnológico de empresas colaboradoras facilitaron estas sesiones. El propósito fue enriquecer el perfil de egreso de los participantes, destacando la importancia de soft skills como la empatía, la proactividad y la ética. Además, con el respaldo de Telus Digital Solutions, se llevaron a cabo entrevistas simuladas, brindando valiosos consejos para mejorar los perfiles de los estudiantes.

Daniel asegura sentirse muy emocionado por sus grandes avances en su plan de vida y obteniendo tal seguridad como para empezar en el mundo laboral. Menciona sentirse muy apoyado por parte del programa y en su aprendizaje enfocándose en que todos se lleven una parte de ello. Aplicando sus conocimientos de lo aprendido en lo practico ya que asegura que es así como uno logra desarrollarse. Muchos ven la programación como algo que solamente pocas personas puede lograr y asegura que no es cierto. Él comenta que se empieza con pasos pequeños hasta llegar a lo más alto, siendo consciente de que es principiante, pero va lográndolo poco a poco siendo algo muy significativo para él y eso es lo importante.

Programa Ludoteca Naves Hospitalaria Gloria Kriete

La Ludoteca NAVES Hospitalaria “Gloria de Kriete” se fundó en octubre de 2005 en el Hospital Nacional de Niños Benjamín Bloom. Este programa se enfoca en proporcionar una atención terapéutica a través de intervenciones lúdicas a infantes y adolescentes hospitalizados por diversas causas. Además, también incluye un proyecto de formación permanente al personal médico y de enfermería. Con un equipo multidisciplinario que abarca 13 especialidades médicas, Ludoteca se concentra en la recuperación emocional, atención en estados críticos y cuidados paliativos, estableciéndose como un referente en el cuidado integral de los pacientes pediátricos en El Salvador.

Diplomado para la intervención terapéutica con enfoque lúdico para niñez y adolescencia

Se graduó la 4ta cohorte de voluntarios y estudiantes de este diplomado, creando un espacio propicio para la formación profesional en intervención psicosocial para la niñez y adolescencia mediante diversas herramientas de la terapia de juego. Este diplomado consta de 4 módulos que combinan teoría y práctica, con una duración total de 60 horas, beneficiando a 25 futuros profesionales.

“El Juego que Sana”

Lanzamiento oficial al público del libro sobre intervención lúdica hospitalaria en El Salvador. Libro el cual explora el desarrollo de temas relacionados con el juego y la experiencia humana durante la hospitalización, profundizando en los efectos terapéuticos que la ludoteca aporta a la infancia, cuidadores y personal de salud en un entorno de atención médica. En particular, Ludoteca NAVES Hospitalaria “Gloria de Kriete” ha desempeñado un papel crucial en el bienestar de su hijo, generando un impacto notable en su situación de salud. El respaldo emocional y práctico contribuyendo a la estabilidad emocional y la resiliencia de Milagro y su familia.

Programa de Salud Rural Integral

El Programa de Salud Rural Integral se enfoca en mantener la salud de las familias en las zonas rurales de Sonsonate, Ahuachapán y La Unión. Desde la etapa prenatal hasta la tercera edad, se brindan atenciones preventivas, orientación para partos saludables y seguimiento detallado a recién nacidos y niños de 1 a 9 años. Además, aborda la salud del adolescente y brinda orientación en temas como prevención de drogas, enfermedades de transmisión sexual y embarazos precoces. Se atienden también a adultos mayores, previniendo y tratando enfermedades crónicas, degenerativas y ceguera por cataratas. Prosarín se distingue por su enfoque integral, incluyendo el tratamiento de personas con discapacidades, proporcionando dispositivos de apoyo personal cuando es necesario. Con más de 20 años de experiencia, ha impactado positivamente a comunidades, promoviendo la salud y previniendo enfermedades en diversas etapas de la vida.

Promotores de salud motivan a las mujeres de todas las edades a tomarse la citología vaginal para detectar enfermedades y/o cáncer cérvico vaginal por medio de visitas y charlas en las comunidades.

Atención a la niñez, menores de 5 años

Promotores de salud atendieron y orientaron a madres de familia sobre los cuidados de enfermedades prevalentes de la infancia, como infecciones respiratorias, diarreas, entre otras.

Blanca, una madre joven de Las Higueras, Izalco, enfrentó un embarazo de alto riesgo debido a la preclamsia. Gracias a los controles prenatales proporcionados por Prosarín, se detectó la situación a tiempo. El seguimiento con medicamentos adecuados y la derivación para un parto hospitalario fueron fundamentales. Su bebé, Verónica Esmeralda Méndez, nació prematura con 1.9 Kg y permaneció 13 días en el hospital, sin embargo, gracias a la dedicación constante de la promotora y el médico fue crucial para que Verónica, ahora de cuatro meses, goce de excelente salud.

Programa Aprendamos Juntos

Aprendamos Juntos brinda educación inicial a niños desde el nacimiento hasta los seis años, para potenciar un desarrollo integral en áreas clave como lenguaje, socio afectividad, psicomotricidad fina y gruesa, y sensopercepción. La estimulación inicial se aborda de manera lúdica, utilizando el juego como herramienta educativa.

En el proceso formativo de la educación inicial, se involucra activamente a los padres, madres y/o cuidadores de los niños. A través de talleres especializados, se les enseñan técnicas para fortalecer la estimulación inicial. El programa facilita la elaboración de instrumentos psicopedagógicos, proporcionando a las participantes herramientas que puedan utilizar en el hogar para continuar con la estimulación. Este programa se implementa en zonas rurales de Sonsonate y Ahuachapán, destacando su compromiso con el desarrollo infantil en comunidades específicas.

Clausuras de año escolar 2023

Las facilitadoras desarrollaron en todas las comunidades el cierre del año con entrega de diplomas a los niños y niñas de 3 a 6 años que permanecieron asistiendo y aprendiendo en las Casas de Educación Inicial del programa.

Educación Inicial a niños de la primera infancia menores de seis años

Las facilitadoras realizaron varias jornadas lúdicas mostrando colores, figuras geométricas y trabajo colaborativo. En esta etapa, los niños desarrollan aprestamiento y aprendiendo los números con papel de seda o china, utilizando la técnica del bruñido para desarrollar psicomotricidad fina.

Las gemelas, Katherine y Jaqueline Santos, vienen de una familia de escasos recursos. Cuando se iniciaron las visitas con las docentes, tenían 2 años y se les dificultaba socializar. Junto a la madre, se les convenció de ir al CEDIN. Actualmente tienen 4 años y han desarrollado habilidades donde se les observa más activas, alegres y participativas. Gracias a la Fundación Gloria Kriete y Ágape, ambas han tenido una transformación muy grande en habilidades y herramientas que les ayudará en lo que resta de su camino educativo.

Talitha Kumi es un programa administrado por ONUVA desde el año 2012, enfocado en la formación integral y conciencia social de la juventud estudiantil del Complejo Educativo Nuestra Señora de las Gracias. Su objetivo es complementar la formación académica de los jóvenes, mejorando sus actitudes y aptitudes para mejora del desempeño, integración y adaptación a trabajos dignos y el acceso a oportunidades de estudios superiores. Programa Construcción del Carácter Forja

El programa de formación del carácter de Forja facilita a las personas para que puedan forjar su carácter desarrollando una autoestima saludable, asumir responsabilidad sobre sus vidas y reconocer su pertenencia a una comunidad. Se presenta como una invitación a la mejora continua, reconociendo que el desarrollo personal es un proceso continuo a lo largo de la vida. Actualmente, los talleres se implementan en proyectos permanentes en 10 escuelas del sistema público en El Salvador y en un colegio privado en Panamá, gracias al respaldo de la Fundación Gloria de Kriete y otros aliados estratégicos.

Lanzamiento en Coatepeque

Evento en el Centro Escolar Fe y Alegría con el objetivo de ampliar el equipo de voluntarios en el Lago de Coatepeque explicando el programa de manera detallada. A dicho evento se invitó a algunos padres de familia tanto de Fe y Alegría como del Centro Escolar Vuelta de Oro, quienes fueron recomendados por los directores de ambos colegios. Así mismo, se invitó a los directores y a algunos maestros. Al evento asistieron 29 personas.

Desfile “Podemos

llevarnos bien”

Para finalizar el programa del año escolar, los alumnos de primer grado de ONUVA, Fe y Alegría y Vuelta de Oro realizaron un desfile para recordar a sus compañeros de todo el colegio que “podemos llevarnos bien”. Entre música y colores, recordaron algunas actitudes y habilidades que debemos practicar para llevarnos bien con los demás, como, por ejemplo: ser responsables, parar y pensar antes de actuar, cooperar y negociar, ser amables, valorar las diferencias, ser buenos amigos y estar de acuerdo en estar en desacuerdo.

Capacitación Maestros y Administrativo

Con el objetivo de que todas las personas que forman parte de la comunidad del Centro Escolar Nuestra Señora de las Gracias (ONUVA) aprendan a forjar su carácter y se ayuden unos a otros, durante los meses de enero, noviembre y diciembre se realizaron diversas capacitaciones. Los maestros y personal administrativo tuvieron la oportunidad de aprender y recordar “Los 7 Hábitos de las Personas Altamente Efectivas” de Franklin Covey y de compartir con sus compañeros de trabajo actividades dinámicas y divertidas que les permitieron reflexionar sobre sí mismos y sobre el sentido de su trabajo.

The Gloria Kriete Foundation, established in December 2004 at the initiative of Doña Gloria’s seven children, is a non-profit organization primarily created to perpetuate the memory of Doña Gloria and to instill in future generations the altruistic spirit with which she lived.

Over the last 19 years, the Gloria Kriete Foundation has impacted over 3.2 million Salvadorans in the areas of health, education, employability, community development, entrepreneurship, technology, innovation, and the environment.

We believe that all human beings deserve to access tools that allow them to have equal opportunities and thus change their own living conditions and those of their surroundings.

It’s the era of innovation. The world is undergoing unprecedented constant transformation, and we are approaching a critical moment: if we learn to leverage innovation as a means and not as an end, we can transform the world into a more just and empathetic place.

At the Gloria Kriete Foundation, we have chosen to generate new social innovation processes. In Oportunidades, along with our partners, we have created a curriculum that allows us to equip young people with skills and competencies that prepare them for the future through innovative teaching and learning methodologies and the use of disruptive technology.

The essence of social innovation lies in a process that seeks to identify specific needs and offer concrete solutions that can prove their effectiveness, thus allowing for replication once proven. With Helping Those Who Help, we manage to finance and provide tools that help organizations strengthen their ability to generate impact.

Nineteen years ago, the Gloria Kriete Foundation was born with the vision of supporting existing social initiatives through programs designed to collaborate with other institutions, aiming to establish strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations to fund projects continuously. Currently, FGK operates three permanent programs and supports six ongoing programs with other executing organizations.

Oportunidades Program

Since its inception in 2007, the Oportunidades Program has aimed to empower at-risk Salvadoran youth with limited economic resources by providing tools to transform their lives and their surroundings. The main purpose is to reduce the educational gap, shaping integral citizens capable of facing any challenge. Its methodology combines technical knowledge and soft skills, offering an innovative curriculum tailored to current technological demands. It is currently the only program providing complementary academic excellence, holistic Higher Education, and employability access, guiding young people through three phases with coaching support.

Phase 1

COMPLIMENTARY EDUCATION

Each youth receives two to three years of vocational technical knowledge and values that prepare them for university, combining knowledge in English, programming, values, vocational orientation, citizenship education, and employment training.

University or associate degree scholarships are awarded, and each youth is accompanied by qualified coaches to ensure successful academic performance.

Activities

Mental Health Tools in Post COVID-19 Education

This activity aimed to provide educators and professionals with the necessary tools and practical strategies to address post COVID-19 mental health challenges, including identifying signs of mental health problems in students or work teams, supporting resilience, emotional well-being, and fostering positive mental health.

Oportunidades Class 2023 Graduation Ceremonies

The Gloria de Kriete Foundation and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) graduated 275 young people from the Oportunidades Program who completed their studies corresponding to the first phase of the program in the four training centers in the country.

Financial Education Event with Aflatoun

The Gloria Kriete Foundation, along with Aflatoun, held a financial education event highlighting the importance of developing financial health habits from an early age. Its focus was on the need to instill an investment and savings mindset among young people so that they can build solid foundations for their financial future.

Inter-centers Gathering 2023

It was held with the aim for young people from Phase I of the Oportunidades Program to share experiences and moments of coexistence. The celebration takes place year after year and this time brought together 811 students from the different training centers located in San Salvador, Sonsonate, Santa Ana, and San Miguel.

Mentorship Program Graduation

The Gloria Kriete Foundation and PBS El Salvador joined efforts to train 21 young people from the Oportunidades Program with a Mentorship Plan. During four months, PBS collaborators guided these young people, not only in professional aspects but also in their personal growth, promoting skills and talents. This joint effort reflects the commitment of both institutions to create meaningful job opportunities for young people.

Oportunidades Presidents’ Summit

2023-2024

It was an event that brought together young leaders from the student government associations to share achievements, discuss challenges, and establish a joint work agenda. At these summits, the heads of state or government of the participating states set the Organization’s priorities and provided guidance on their work for the upcoming years.

Oportunidades FestExpo U

More than 500 Salvadoran youth participated in the “EXPO U” event, a space where the country’s main universities gathered to showcase their academic offerings and scholarship programs. The overwhelming response from attendees reflected the Salvadoran youth’s desire to access quality higher education.

he second day of the Oportunidades Fest attracted attendees interested in informational talks on successful job search strategies and opportunities in the technological field.

Innovatech 2023, an initiative full of creativity and innovation, was an opportunity for students from the Oportunidades Program phase 1 to presents the fruits of their hard work throughout the year in entrepreneurship and technology projects.

Douglas Juárez

Class 2018, San Salvador Full-Time Modality

Douglas recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business, MAGNA CUM LAUDE. He was a student of the Oportunidades program from the Class of 2018, San Salvador Fulltime. Currently, he works as a monitoring analyst at the National Commission of Digital Assets, a government entity that oversees an efficient market in the world of tokenization and cryptocurrencies. Reaching this point in his life has been the result of a multiyear effort from his family, consisting of his mother and brother, who provided him with unwavering support to pursue a higher education degree. The additional value that the Oportunidades Program from the Gloria Kriete Foundation gave him has been fundamental as it reinforced subjects such as computer science or mathematics and enhanced English skills, which eventually led him to obtain a scholarship at the Higher Institute of Economics and Business (ESEN) from which he graduated a few years back.

Katherine is a young graduate of Dr. José Matías Delgado University. She is currently a market research project analyst, which has allowed her to achieve merits and successes in her life, learning to believe in herself, even when family and economic circumstances were unfavorable. She acknowledges that she has not always obtained everything she wanted, but she values the experiences, good and bad, that have helped her grow personally. She takes pride in her story for never giving up and for having the determination to move forward despite obstacles. She has managed to study abroad thanks to the support of the Oportunidades Program and has developed the ability to empathize with others. She recently started studying her second degree, which has allowed her to start a professional life full of learning.

In the Oportunidades program, I learned valuable lessons, such as the importance of teamwork and resilience. Despite economic and health difficulties, I managed to excel academically. Oportunidades opened new doors for my future, including the creation of a successful start-up presented at the Achievements Fair 2023 and obtaining two scholarships to study at ESEN and Harding University, thanks to the support of the program’s staff.

Helping Those Who Help

Helping Those Who Help from the Gloria Kriete Foundation stands out as one of the most influential social initiatives in El Salvador. It seeks to generate a collective impact for social development, involving key sectors in addressing several issues ranging from education and health to clean water supply, food security, infrastructure, and environmental protection. This initiative directs its funds towards three specific areas: NGOs, Social Entrepreneurs, and Community Development. Additionally, the program has implemented training support that encompasses community projects and social enterprises, fully funded by FGK. This training support aims to enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem by facilitating the growth of social impact business models and to train community leaders, strengthening their skills in project management for social initiatives.

In 2023, the incubation program, in addition to the online training offered by an international provider and the personalized mentoring by expert advisers, included in-person workshops to address topics of interest such as value proposition, marketing plan, financial projections and Elevator Pitch, and as closing activity, entrepreneurs participated in an entrepreneurship fair where they had the opportunity to showcase their products and services and make connections with other related sectors.

The scholarship recipients received 16 weeks of incubation and completed 8 modules with various topics to develop their business plan under a social impact focus.

Community Leadership and Empowerment Workshops

The objective is to strengthen the capabilities of leaders in rural communities so that through the management of social projects, they can promote significant changes in their communities.

▷ 7 ADESCOS from the western zone trained using the FORTAS-FUSADES methodology.

“De Aquí Soy” Job Fair by USAID: TuChance FGK stood out for participating in three job fairs held in the months of June in Apopa, August in San Miguel, and in November in Santa Ana by the “De Aquí Soy” initiative from USAID. The team presented the platform, focusing on job opportunities and user registrations. Kodigo

“Kodigo” is a social entrepreneurship initiative that aims to accelerate learning and foster creative thinking in technology among young people. It offers a 3 to 6-month training program with a funding model called Income Sharing Agreement (ISA), where the student pays once they secure employment. Additionally, it collaborates with technology companies to develop professional training programs, internships, and corporate social responsibility projects through scholarships and sponsorship.

By joining FGK’s “Employability Connections,” they networked with students passionate about programming, exchanging experiences and knowledge, while also exploring exciting opportunities in the programming space. Developers Summit

The Developers Summit, held on October 20, 2023, brought together developer communities associated with Kodigo to enhance learning and innovation. The communities shared experiences such as ventures and projects, strengthening networking among developers. The presence of invited entrepreneurs in the TECH area created links and inspiration for the young attendees.

Webinars with Partners to Enhance Employability

Kodigo joined several webinars with partners to support employability skills in bootcamps. These sessions were facilitated by recruitment experts and technological coaches. The purpose was to enrich the participants’ profile, highlighting the importance of soft skills such as empathy, proactivity, and ethics. Additionally, with the support of Telus Digital Solutions, mock interviews were conducted, providing valuable advice to improve students’ profiles.

Gloria Kriete Naves Hospital Playrooms with Funipri

It was founded in October 2005 at the Benjamin Bloom National Children’s Hospital. This program focuses on providing therapeutic care through playful interventions to infants and adolescents hospitalized for various reasons. Additionally, it includes a permanent training project for medical and nursing staff. With a multidisciplinary team covering 13 medical specialties, the Ludoteca focuses on emotional recovery, care in critical states, and palliative care, establishing itself as a reference in the comprehensive care of pediatric patients in El Salvador.

Launch of the book “El Juego que Sana” (The Healing Game)

Official public launch of the book on hospital playful intervention in El Salvador. The book explores topics related to play and the human experience during hospitalization, delving into the therapeutic effects that the ludoteca brings to childhood, caregivers, and health personnel in a medical care environment. With the support of the Gloria Kriete Foundation, the book was translated into English for marketing in both languages.

Certification for therapeutic intervention with a playful approach for children and adolescents

The 4th cohort of volunteers and students of this diploma graduated, creating a favorable space for professional training in psychosocial intervention for children and adolescents through various play therapy tools. This diploma consists of 4 modules that combine theory and practice, with a total duration of 60 hours, benefiting 25 future professionals.

Integral Rural Health Program with Agape

The Integral Rural Health Program (PROSARIN) focuses on supporting the health of families in rural areas of Sonsonate, Ahuachapán, and La Unión. From prenatal stages to old age, preventive care is provided, guidance for healthy childbirth is given, and detailed follow-up is conducted for newborns and children aged 1 to 9 years. Additionally, teenage health is addressed, providing guidance on topics such as drug prevention, sexually transmitted diseases, and early pregnancies. Elderly individuals are also attended to, preventing, and treating chronic, degenerative diseases, and cataract-induced blindness. Prosarin is distinguished by its comprehensive approach, including the treatment of people with disabilities, providing personal support devices when necessary. With over 20 years of experience, it has positively impacted communities, promoting health, and preventing diseases at various stages of life.

Blanca, a young mother from Las Higueras, Izalco, faced a high-risk pregnancy due to preeclampsia. Thanks to the prenatal care provided by Prosarín, the situation was detected on time. Follow-up with appropriate medication and referral for hospital childbirth were crucial. Her baby, Verónica Esmeralda Méndez, was born premature with 1.9 kg and spent 13 days in the hospital; however, thanks to the constant dedication of the health promoter and the doctor, Verónica, now four months old, enjoys excellent health.

Learning Together Program with Agape

Learning Together Program provides early childhood education from birth to six years old, aiming to foster comprehensive development in key areas such as language, socio-affectivity, fine and gross motor skills, and sensory perception. Early stimulation is approached in a playful manner, using play as an educational tool.

In the early education process, parents, mothers, and/or caregivers are actively involved. Through specialized workshops, they are taught techniques to strengthen early stimulation. The program facilitates the development of psycho pedagogical instruments, providing participants with tools they can use at home to continue stimulation. This program is implemented in rural areas of Sonsonate and Ahuachapán, emphasizing its commitment to child development in specific communities.

Closure of the 2023 school year

Facilitators conducted the closure of the school year in all communities with the delivery of diplomas to children aged 3 to 6 who continued attending and learning in the Early Childhood Education Houses of the program.

Early Childhood Education for children under six years old

Facilitators conducted several playful sessions showing colors, geometric shapes, and collaborative work. At this stage, children develop preparation for learning and learn numbers with tissue paper or china paper, using the technique of rubbing to develop fine motor skills.

Talitha Kumi is a program operated by ONUVA since 2012, which focuses on the youth education of students from the Nuestra Señora de las Gracias Educational Complex. Its objective is to complement the academic training of young people, thus improving their opportunities for integration and adaptation to higher education institutions and future employment. The Character Building Program with FORJA helps individuals to forge their character by developing healthy self-esteem, taking responsibility for their lives, and recognizing their belonging to a community. It presents itself as an invitation to continuous improvement, acknowledging that personal development is an ongoing process throughout life. Currently, the workshops are implemented as permanent projects in 10 public schools in El Salvador and in a private school in Panama, thanks to the support of the Gloria de Kriete Foundation and other strategic partners.

Launch in Coatepeque

An event at the Fe y Alegria School Center was conducted to expand the team of volunteers in Coatepeque Lake by explaining the program in detail. Some parents from both Fe y Alegría and Vuelta de Oro School Center were invited to this event, by recommendation from the schools’ principals. Principals and some teachers were also invited. 29 people attended the event.

Parade “Podemos Llevarnos Bien” (“We Can Get Along”)

To conclude the school year, first-grade students from ONUVA, Fe y Alegría, and Vuelta de Oro conducted a parade to remind their fellow students that “we can get along.” Amidst music and colors, they recalled some attitudes and skills that we should practice to get along with others, such as being responsible, stopping and thinking before acting, cooperating and negotiating, being kind, valuing differences, being good friends, and agreeing to disagree.

Teacher and Administrative Staff Training

The activity was conducted with the intention of supporting members of the community of the Nuestra Señora de las Gracias School Center (ONUVA) to learn to forge their character and help each other. In January, November, and December, various training sessions were held. Teachers and administrative staff had the opportunity to learn and reminisce “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Franklin Covey and to share with their colleagues dynamic and fun activities that allowed them to reflect on themselves and the meaning of their work.
