Dear Friends of the Downtown: Welcome to the annual Stamford Downtown Directory. Stamford Downtown is an exciting, vibrant and historical neighborhood. It has consistently been a regional showcase for dining, shopping, entertainment, cultural activities and education. It is easily accessible from major highways, bus and rail transportation and walkable to all retail destinations. However, if you are looking to park your vehicle, there are many parking options available in the Downtown area, open 24 hours, 7 days a week. It is also a dynamic residential location. New residential apartment construction continues, with 124 new units at Parallel 41 at 1340 Washington Boulevard and 344 new units at 75 Tresser Boulevard (the former Advocate site). The district has four elementary magnet schools (Hart, Toquam, Westover and the Rogers International School, which is an interdistrict magnet), one middle magnet school (Scofield) and one magnet interdistrict high school (Academy of Information Technology and Engineering). Admittance to magnet schools is through a lottery system. Kindergarten is a full day program. Curricula follows state and national standards.
