Offering a truly authentic experience of a proper mouthpiece, pBuzz has a range of 6 notes through its moveable slide. The slide positions are outlined by colour, note name (i.e. F, G, A, B, Bb, C) and also slide position from 1 to 6. The colour scheme ties in with any other instruments using the Orff system. Materials: 4 Sets of Note Knacks Method: Percussion instruments 1. Divide students into 4 teams and place them so that they cannot see each other 2. Give each small group a set of Note Knacks 3. Give one team 10 minutes to come up with a rhythm in 2/4, 3/4, or 4/4 (Decide before you begin) 4. When they are finished, have them play their rhythm twice on the percussion instruments they were given at the beginning. 5. The first team to create their rhythm in Note Knacks in a specific time signature frame wins and gets to create the next rhythm. Thoughts: This can go on for as long as you need it to last. You can have prizes for more complicated rhythms. You can specify which notes they can use. You can use do this as a game at the end of class
Xyloba is a creative marble run for building and composing at the same time. Xyloba develops motor function and spatial imagination and also facilitates a creative approach to music. It is available in sets the produce specific tunes, in small and large general packages and as separate parts.The simple interlocking Xyloba system allows an almost unlimited number of variations. The fun really begins when, in addition to building, one starts composing. Xyloba provides students with access to the world of melodies and rhythms, an almost unlimited number of different setup variations, the opportunity to enhance their spatial imagination and a creative approach to music. The chimes can also be randomly mounted and interchanged just for fun. Coincidences often result in enchanting melodies.
Xyloba allows the discovery and recognition of different note values, for instance ½ notes, ¼ notes, ⅛ notes as well as their dotted forms. The 20 different chimes, which range chromatically from G2 to D4, help distinguish between pitches and intervals. (All tunes sound two octaves higher than written.) As the marble rolls down the track, it strikes the individually mounted chimes. Ramps of different lengths produce the rhythm.
