Sedna, the goddess of the sea and mother of all marine animals in some Inuit mythology, is a vengeful and fearsome figure. She has many origin stories, but all of them involve her being thrown into the unforgiving sea and having her fingers severed, which then transform into seals and walruses as she sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
