A Bigger, Better Place to Convene Whether you’re in town for work or play, the recently-expanded A N A H E I M C O N V E N T I O N C E N T E R is worth a venture inside, if only up to the new north wing’s 10,000-square-foot balcony for a stunning view of fireworks over Disney California Adventure® Park. Since the $190 million addition opened for business in Sept. 2017, larger conferences have been afforded the opportunity to meet in Anaheim, where a few extra days for leisure are always well-spent. From the outdoor Grand Plaza courtyard area, the complementary designs of ACC North and the original building are striking, with a winding walkway made to resemble the Santa Ana River—water fountains represent mountains and the ocean. ORIGINAL PANCAKE HOUSE This reliable breakfast chain knows its pancakes, but be sure to study the comprehensive morning menu for a variety of other options. IN-N-OUT BURGER Best enjoyed en route to or from the airport, the simple (and cheap) menu at this California-based drive-through is surprisingly versatile and always fresh. 2 Whole roasted potatoes are served with a slathering of oil and spices on the skins.
3 Of the nine California-brewed beers on draft, Anaheim Brewery’s medium-bodied Anaheim Red mellows out the heat of the sauce with notes of malt and caramel.

MINT JULEP BAR
If you eat one thing at Disneyland® Park, let it be this. Served with all the trimmings, local chef Leonard Chan calls it “the perfect comfort food.” $17.49
Enjoy the same fine-dining menu in the lounge as in the adjacent restaurant at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa. We suggest starting with this tempura lobster salad with marinated beef and greens, all dressed in a refreshing coconut-lime vinaigrette. $22
While just about anything can be improved by the addition of ears, these powdery doughnuts have also been enhanced by limited-edition flavors alongside new attractions. $9
LOBSTER ROLL HARBOUR GALLERY
While Cove Bar is closed in 2018, any park-induced lobster cravings can be easily satisfied with the cold salad served atop a soft, buttery roll at this waterfront lunch counter. $14.99 CARNE ASADA FRIES WHITE WATER SNACKS
Check out this “secret” menu item from one of the eateries at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa. Order the beef nachos ($10.49), served with fresh salsa, guacamole, sour cream, and jalapeños, and sub the chips for fries ($3.29).

CAFE ORLEANS
Our sources say this cinnamon sugar pastry qualifies as “its own food group” within Disneyland® Park. Try an original from the many carts you’ll find, or select from the rotating flavors and dipping sauces. $4.25
We wouldn’t visit New Orleans without noshing on this meaty, olive-infused combination of flavors, just as it’s not Disneyland® without Cafe Orleans’ creole-inspired (think: antipasto) salad. $21

P L AY How would you describe your style? I’m pretty classic with an edge. I love a red lip, a leopard shoe, and all black. Simple with a bit of flair.
What makes Anaheim great for fashion? Because I’m a photoshoot stylist, I spend a lot of time looking for the perfect outfits. One of my favorite places to shop for photoshoots is the Outlets at Orange. Their stores Off Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Last Call Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom Rack are absolutely the best for hidden gems.
Name three stores you couldn’t live without. I mentioned a few shopping destinations that are key to my business, but I can’t go any further without proclaiming my love for South Coast Plaza. With over 250 boutiques, I’d start with some of their fast-fashion options like COS (my new fave), Zara, Anthropologie, Club Monaco, J. Crew, Madewell, Intermix, and Henri Bendel. Then there are the high-end boutiques Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Dior, Céline, Chloé, Chanel, Red Valentino, and Stella McCartney.
YOUR LOCAL STYLE GUIDE FROM OUTLETS TO THE HIGHEST-END boutiques, unparalleled shopping makes Anaheim an idyllic home base for stylist Shauna Jackson, a South Coast Plaza marketing executive-turnedfashion guru.

My biggest thrill is shopping for others, whether I’m helping a friend put together the perfect outfit or scoring an incredible pair of shoes on sale. It helps that I have an uncanny ability to memorize people’s wardrobes, so I’m constantly dreaming up coordinating looks and can easily decide what staples they still need. I believe in spending money on the classic pieces.
Guiltiest pleasure in Anaheim? I love California Adventure! It’s a blast, and I can have a glass of wine while enjoying the park. Both parks, along with Downtown Disney, are perfect for date night and family fun. My sister-in-law works for Disney, so the whole family has come to really enjoy our time there.
What inspires you? My friends, my daughters, Southern California culture. How quickly fashion changes.

A NEW HOUSE OF BLUES JUST STEPS AWAY from Disneyland® Park at its new GardenWalk location, this Anaheim institution offers hours of entertainment after dark—and it’s ideal for those special, private events, too.

Preserving the Legacy Not only did House of Blues Anaheim outgrow its Downtown Disney® location, but Orange County has been trusted with picking up where the original Harvard Square venue, in Massachusetts, left off. The new flagship space offers four dedicated areas: a 2,200-capacity music hall, the VIP Foundation Room, an intimate new performance space, and the expanded restaurant and bar. All reflect the brand’s 25-year-strong passion for music in the Southern tradition, as one might expect from founders Isaac Tigrett, who was also behind the Hard Rock Cafe, and Blues Brothers Dan Aykroyd and the Belushi family.

But House of Blues caters to morning people, too, serving up an all-you-can-eat Southern breakfast spread every other Sunday complete with carving stations and all the sides. Don’t fill up so much you can’t dance to the traditional and contemporary hymns performed by local talent.

THOUGHT
CONSIDER IT SUNG AMONG THE MAKERS in The Packing District’s newly-revived MAKE Building is Unsung Brewing Co. We stopped by to meet founder Mike Crea and to see what his “humble pursuit of heroic beer” looks—and tastes—like.
UNSUNG BREWING CO. IN THE MAKE BUILDING
THE MAKE BUILDING
The hard part, he explains, is actually doing the brewing. That’s why one goal of Unsung is to sing the praises of blue-collar brewers, who tend to work under stressful, at times dangerous conditions—as do local heroes like firefighters, police, and teachers. The superhero theme is simply an extension of these real-life saviors. The Marvel-inspired interior and names of the beers (“Propeller- Head”) are novel in their own right, but Crea also divulges some local intelligence as we sip his latest batch of experimental IPAs: for the best comic books in town, head to Pop Comics on West Center Street Promenade. After you finish your drink. unsungbrewing.com
