Our Creative Industries Connections Theatre Orangeville With the restoration of the Opera House on the second floor of the Orangeville Town Hall, Theatre Orangeville began as a professional theatre in 1994. Since 2001, thanks to the support of the Town of Orangeville and the dedicated arts supporters in the community, Theatre Orangeville has become one of Canada’s outstanding professional regional theatre companies and has presented main stage seasons running from September to May. Some of the finest professional theatrical artists from across Canada have performed on the Theatre Orangeville stage including Michael Therriault, Rod Beattie, Avery Saltzman, Douglas Chamberlain, Lally Cadeau, and Ted Follows. The ability of Theatre Orangeville to attract such talent ensures a high quality production and performance and more than 23,000 visitors a year from across the region and the GTA. Theatre Orangeville’s success also extends to the local community, with an extensive youth program in drama, choir and music theatre that attracts adults, youth and children to the arts. Since 2005, Theatre Orangeville, in partnership with Community Living Dufferin, has created original plays and musicals that celebrate the abilities of participants. For the past five years, Theatre Orangeville has provided exceptional after-school programming for autistic children.
