The Company emerged from modest beginnings in 1949 with an installed capacity of only 14Kw & providing electricity to just the residences in Male’ Over the past five decades, STELCO operated as a Government Department under different names, such as the “Dept of Electricity” and “Maldives Electricity Board” in 1997, “State Electric Company Limited” was formed. Initially, the no. of customers was around 50 houses in Male’ throughout the years, the Company’s operations have grown to provide utility services with the addition of water, waste & sewerage networks to the Company’s operations. Currently, STELCO operates 35 powerhouses and eight water and eight sewerage networks in the Greater Male Region and the majority islands of K, AA, ADh and V Atoll.

PRODUCTS & SERVICES:
STELCO provides electricity services to K. AA. ADh and V Atoll. STELCO also operates Water and Sewerage networks in 11 islands in K. AA and ADh. In addition to utility services, STELCO’s product portfolio includes STELCO Sales Centre, which retails electrical equipment and peripherals and the newly launched STELCO Service Centre, which provides stateof-the-art electrical and engineering solutions. STELCO also provides solar panel packages and renewable products under Ávikatha’ project. STELCO MAATV is one of Maldives’ largest LED screens that run advertisements and public service announcements.
