THU 10 – SAT 19 SEPTEMBER From Stephen Daldry, the Oscar nominated Director of The Reader, The Hours and Billy Elliot, comes the multi-award-winning West End production of J.B. Priestley’s classic thriller, An Inspector Calls. Hailed as the theatrical event of our generation, winning more awards than any other play in history, this landmark production from The National Theatre has thrilled audiences in the West End, on Broadway and throughout the world with its epic and wildly imaginative staging, raw emotion, evocative score, lashing rain and chilling suspense. When Inspector Goole arrives unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home, their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young woman. His startling revelations shake the very foundations of their lives and challenge us all to examine our consciences.

Oscar Wilde’s much loved and brilliantly witty masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest will visit The Orchard Theatre as part of a UK tour this autumn. Rosalind Ayres, Nigel Havers, Martin Jarvis, Christine Kavanagh and Siân Phillips will be reprising their West End performances and are joined by Nigel Anthony, Carmen du Sautoy and David Shaw-Parker, performing as The Bunbury Company of Players. This new production is directed by Lucy Bailey, designed by William Dudley, with added material written by Simon Brett, lighting design by Oliver Fenwick, and music and sound design by Tom Mills. The Importance of Being Earnest is known to elegantly lampoon the hypocrisies of a Victorian society and features a classic and hilarious plot which twists and fizzles with some of the finest dialogue to be found in theatre.

Everybody Cut Loose as the explosive Rock ‘n’ Roll musical Footloose bursts onto the stage in 2016. Based on the 1980s riveting screen sensation, which took the world by storm with its youthful spirit, dazzling dance and electrifying music. Footloose tells the story of city boy Ren who has to move to a rural backwater in America where dancing is banned. All hell breaks out as Ren breaks loose and soon has the whole town up on its feet. With a dynamic cast, this fast-paced show is not only packed full of amazing dance but serves up some classic 80s hits, including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and of course the unforgettable title track Footloose. This four-time Tony Award nominee musical is not to be missed.

EVENING STANDARD

TUE 5 – SAT 9 APRIL Set in 1942, against a backdrop of heartache and quiet bravery, Flare Path paints an evocative portrait of life in wartime Britain for the RAF bomber crews, their wives and sweethearts, who were left awaiting their return. RAF pilot Teddy and his wife, former actress Patricia, have their marriage tested to the limit by the surprise arrival of her ex-lover Peter Kyle. Highly charged drama with a truly authentic taste of the fear, camaraderie and passion combine when an unexpected and dangerous mission over Germany puts Patricia at the centre of an emotional conflict as unpredictable as the war in the skies. This mayor revival will be directed by rising star Justin Audibert (RSC, Young Vic, West Yorkshire Playhouse) and comes from the producers behind the hit touring production of Birdsong.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING

GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL

The Orchard Theatre is raising money to help fund brand-new operating theatres at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. For the past four years HQ Theatres & Hospitality, alongside sister company Qdos Entertainment, has been supporting the Theatres for Theatres appeal, in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. So far the generosity of audiences and staff has raised over £710,000 for the charity, but we have more to raise to help build and equip a suite of new operating theatres at the Hospital which will open in 2017. You can donate using collection tins at the theatre/venue or online at gosh.org/theatredonation Your support makes a huge difference. Thank you. ©2007 Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (©2008 Theatres for Theatres) Registered charity no. 23582
