Origami provides more than just medical care Origami is the result of a unique alliance between Michigan State University and Peckham, Incorporated. The combined expertise of this alliance provides a mechanism for highly specialized, cutting edge services, from medical expertise to community re-entry and return to productive activity. We work as a team, bringing together committed professionals who use a unique approach to meet the physical, social, spiritual, cognitive, and emotional needs of those who have sustained a brain injury. Understanding that brain injury affects everyone in a person’s life, we consider it essential that family and friends are a part of treatment. We make sure our clients are fully supported to reach their greatest potential. We focus on maximizing recovery, restoring quality of life, and independence.


Finding Your Path


Origami offers an extensive continuum of care RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM Neuro-Rehabilitation: Support is provided 24 hours per day in a home-like environment, with varying degrees of direct supervision provided based on individual need. Medical care is overseen by a Registered Nurse. Assisted Living: Support is provided 24 hours per day in a home-like environment. Private suites and program structure allow for opportunity to maintain or increase independent living skill levels based on individual need. COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAM Promoting community participation, this program helps clients return to living in their communities. Clients may be living in a community setting while receiving daily or weekly support from our team of rehabilitation aides. Private apartments are also available to promote independence within the structure of the Origami campus. OUTPATIENT PROGRAM For individuals nearing completion of their rehabilitation or requiring only modest levels of treatment needs, this program provides a range of services from a full day of comprehensive treatment to single-service therapy to support continued recovery and independence.

POST-DISCHARGE Origami coordinates post-discharge planning for people we serve, including tracking client status for at least 6 months.


Admissions Navigating Your Way We recognize this can be an overwhelming experience and our team will make every effort to ensure a smooth admission. We walk families through the admissions process with an action plan that identifies each important next step. Anyone may make a referral or service inquiry to Origami. Clients may be admitted from a variety of locations including acute-care hospital, subacute care, LTACH, skilled nursing facility, other types of rehabilitation facilities, or from the client’s home. Insurance Accepted Our admissions team can assist you in navigating the insurance process. Services at Origami may be paid for through a variety of funding sources including, but not limited to: commercial health insurance, auto no-fault insurance, workers’ compensation, private pay, special Veterans (VA) brain injury benefits, and specific Medicaid brain injury programs. Please call us with your insurance questions and we will help you in checking your available benefits.


Care & Recovery


Rehabilitation Services

An interdisciplinary team works together with each client and their family to coordinate care, set goals and track progress. Each team is led by an attending physician. Clients may also have other consulting physicians that will guide specific aspects of care.
