Welcome visitors! If you are visiting with us for the first time, we greet you in the Holy Name of Christ, our Saviour, and hope you will join us in fellowship after worship. We are genuinely pleased to have you with us today. We must remind you that while the Orthodox Church prays for the unity of all, we do not practice “open Communion.” Only those Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves with prayer, fasting, and regular confession should approach the chalice.

EPISTLE tHE

God is wondrous in His in distresses, in stripes, in saints. In the churches, imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in vigila, in fasts, in bless ye God. purity, The Reading from the Second Epistle of St. Paul in knowledge, in to the Corinthians. (6:1-10) longsuffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love Brethren, since we are unfeigned, in the word of fellow workers, we entreat truth, in the power of God; you also not to receive the grace of God in vain- for by the weapons of righteousness on the right He says, “At an acceptable hand and on the left, by glory season I hearkened unto and dishonor, by evil report thee, and in a day of and good report; salvation I helped thee”; as deceivers, and yet true; behold, now is “the as unknown, and yet well acceptable season”; known; behold, now is “the day of savation”- giving no as dying, and, behold, we occasion of stumbling in live; as chastened, and not anything, killed; that the ministry is not blamed, but in everything commending ourselves, as ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, 4

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

GOSPEL THE

The Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew. (6:22-33) The Lord said, “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore, I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not the soul more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of heaven: they neither sow nor reap

nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his stature? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon himself in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.” 5
