In recent years we have seen a growing trend in the world of entertainment that looks for special experiences. Generally, these experiences take place in natural surroundings. This is where the “Glamping”, or “glamousous camping” phenomenon arises with unique, special accomodation in priviledged spots. Among other lodging models, we can see that tree houses attracts tourists specially. Beyond the object itself, the “tree house” belongs to our collective imagination since it represents childhood fantasies that we treasure. We feel very attracted to them, because it holds some underlining wishes, like climbing and leaving the ground to rise into the tree’s canopy. This shelter is the refuge where no one can find you but where you can gaze at the surrounding nature from a great point of view.
Orugami is a new generation of tree houses, product of innovative design and techniques and eco-friendly guidelines. It is environmentally friendly and very versatile. It is also detachable and mobile, you can hang it from several points, trees or other resistant structures, natural or man-made. Ins-
tallation is manual and leaves no trace on the environment.

Is it a flying shelter, a livable lantern, a giant fabric nest? Orugami is definitely a fascinating living space, made for children and adult entertainment and joy.
Our flying shelter can be installed quite high, from 5 metres from the ground up to 30 or more. In those cases, users must wear safety harness to access the structure. Orugami can be installed alone, in a collective installation, or in a zip wire circuit. In this way we can create a kind of flying village, with different devices connected by net footbridges, to increase the floating experience.
Orugami has an organic and essential design, as it is the result of stress caused by its hanging position in combination with functional needs. It has been ergonomically designed, so that the space inside and their flexible materials adapts to human body. Interior space is developed in three different levels. The first volume (on the bottom) shaped as an inverted cone, helps you climbing inside. Then you reach the intermediate level, in which you can stand and enjoy a 360º view or lay down and relax. With Orugami, you’ll experience heights with safety and comfort, you’ll be able to enjoy privileged views and taste the experience of living in the tree canopy and disconnect from earthly issues. Near the ground, it can be a child playground, or a floating tree house to share good moments with friends or to rest in summer time.

This product is addressed to companies, institutions or individuals with personal or professional activities linked to nature: adventure parks, rural tourism, ecolodges, glamping, or natural parks where it can be used as a 360º lookout, a bird hide, a place from where spot animals or even shoot a documentary. Orugami fits perfectly in natural environment, both in wild and touristic ones. It can provide more value to them and doesn´t leave any footprint behind. Acces to Orugami
Technic al features Orugami has been designed with specific software for fabric membrane constructions and with the highest quality certified materials. These are resistant to outdoor conditions, and long lasting.

Technic high tensile polyester PVC coated fabric, construction steel detachable rings, elevation and climbing wires and straps, technical anchoring.

Height: 320-350 (depending in the distance we choose for the central view point) Diameters: maximum: 2,2 metres. Minimum: 1,6 metres
Sustainability:
Orugami’s construction system is sustainable and eco-efficient: the construction materials used are minimal and so is the amount of rigid structure. Installation can be done easily by hand, without any machine nor construction work. Once unistalled, it doesn’t leave any trace in the environment. Moreover, the materials used are long lasting and can be reused for non structural needs and recycled afterwards.
Who we are
Reconocimientos y publicaciones:
We are a team made of architects, climbing and rescue professionals, with some years working in the field of light and fabric membrane structures. We have achieved different projects in Spain and Latin America, within a technology transfer program of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). Therefore we have working facilities in both sites. Orugami was finalist in the 10th UPM startup awards in 2013. The project has also been selected by the Central de Dise単o of Madrid to participate in the 2014 Producto Fresco exhibition, devoted to the newest and most influent design products in Madrid. We have been also published in several specialized magazines: in Spain, in NEO2 and ROOM, specialized in design, ESPAZIO, specialized in tensile membrane architecture, and we will very soon be published in Israel, in Nisha magazine.
