Este año, 2023, estaremos celebrando la 12ª Cumbre Anual de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rican Summit). Iniciada en 2010, la meta de la Cumbre es “crear una visión para una mayor comunidad puertorriqueña en los Estados Unidos continentales a través de la participación económica, social y cívica”, y fortalecer los lazos entre nuestra comunidad y la Isla de Puerto Rico. La Cumbre se llevará a cabo en el DoubleTree by Hilton en SeaWorld del 14 al 16 de junio de 2023. Desde su inicio, la Cumbre ha contado con el apoyo de líderes comunitarios, empresarios, funcionarios electos y nuestros patrocinadores cuya generosidad nos ha permitido llegar a este aniversario.
El miércoles 14 de junio presentaremos el Foro de mujeres: Empoderamiento de las mujeres: el conocimiento es poder. Entre los presentadores y oradores invitados estarán: Sara Logsdon, analista de adquisiciones de la SBA; Evelyn Reyes de Enterprise Florida; el Comisionado de la Ciudad de Orlando, Tony Ortiz; y la oradora invitada Lourdes Aponte, presidenta de la Asociación de Comerciantes Unidos de Puerto Rico. También asistirá la Hon. Olga Gonzalez, Alcaldesa de la Ciudad de Kissimmee, Maritza Ávila Vázquez, comisionada de la Ciudad de Deltona y Maribel González Cordero, Vicealcaldesa del Condado Orange.

El viernes 16 de junio, el punto culminante de la Cumbre, será un día de talleres y oportunidades para establecer contactos. La Cumbre abre a las 8:00 am. El primer taller, titulado Emprendimiento: Desarrollo Económico y Comunitario, será moderado por Ed Ramos, gerente sénior de área, SBA. Lo acompañarán David Rodríguez, Departamento de Desarrollo Económico del Condado Osceola, Laudi Campo, directora del Estado de Florida, de Hispanic Federation y Sheena Ferguson, gerente de Desarrollo Económico, Condado Orange.
A partir de las 10:00 am, el segundo panel "Esfuerzos de Ayuda del Gobierno y Oportunidades de Contratación" será moderado por William A. Ramos, asesor principal del subsecretario, EDA, Departamento de Comercio de EE.UU. Lo acompañarán Darlene Bullock, directora ejecutiva, Oficina de Utilización de Empresas Pequeñas y Desfavorecidas,
DHS; Jonel F, Hein, director de distrito, SBA North Florida; y Alberto Pillot, FEMA.
De 11:15 a 11:45 am, saludaremos y encontraremos al Excmo. Rick Scott, Senador de los Estados Unidos, Estado de Florida.
Nuestro almuerzo de negocios de liderazgo se llevará a cabo de 12:00 a 2:00 pm. Seremos abordados por el Sr. José Álvarez, administrador Regional, Región IV, Departamento de Vivienda y Desarrollo Urbano de los Estados Unidos (HUD). Los comentarios de clausura del almuerzo serán presentados por el Congresista Darren Soto, Distrito #9 de Florida.

Cámara de Osceola presentó Actualización Osceola 2023
Kissimmee, FL - La Cámara de Osceola llevó a cabo el evento Osceola Update el 31 de mayo en el Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center en Kissimmee. Este evento anual evalúa el panorama económico y legislativo de la comunidad de Osceola.
Letitia Adams, Directora de Relaciones Gubernamentales de Disney, patrocinador de la conferencia, dirigió una mesa redonda con legisladores estatales que representan al Condado Osceola. Entre los legisladores participantes se encontraban el Senador Estatal Victor Torres, la Representante del distrito 45 Carolina Amesty, la Representante del distrito 46 Kristen Arrington y la Representante del distrito 47 Paula Stark. Entre las preguntas del debate se incluyeron varias enviadas previamente por los asistentes.
En el ámbito federal, el Congresista Darren Soto (FL, Distrito 9) habló sobre la reciente sesión del Congreso.
El programa también incluyo un debate sobre las perspectivas económicas para el condado y el estado a cargo de los economistas de la Universidad de Florida Central, el Dr. Sean Snaith, Director del Instituto para la Competitividad Económica, y el Dr. Paul Jarley, Decano de la Escuela de Negocios de la UCF.
Se trataron temas como la probabilidad de una recesión en un futuro próximo y su posible impacto en Florida Central y el sector turístico, la inflación, la Reserva Federal y los tipos de interés, Disney y las perspectivas de nuestros mercados inmobiliario y laboral.

This year, 2023, we will be celebrating the 12th annual Puerto Rican Summit. Begun in 2010, the goal of the Summit is to “create a vision for a greater Puerto Rican community on the USA Mainland through economic, social and civic participation”, and to strengthen the ties between our community and the Island of Puerto Rico. The Summit will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton at SeaWorld on June 14 -16, 2023. Since its inception, the Summit has enjoyed the support of community leaders, business people, elected officials and our sponsors whose generosity has enabled us to reach this anniversary.
On Wednesday June 14th, we will be showcasing the Women’s Forum: Women’s Empowerment: Knowledge is Power. Among the guest presenters and speakers will be: Sara Logsdon, Procurement Analyst at SBA; Evelyn Reyes from Enterprise Florida; City of Orlando Commissioner Tony Ortiz; and Guest speaker Lourdes Aponte, President, United Retailers Association of Puerto Rico. Friday June 16th – the high point of the Summit – will be a day of workshops and networking opportunities. The Summit opens at 8:00 am. The first workshop – entitled Entrepreneurship: Economic & Community Development will be moderated by Ed Ramos, Senior Area Manager, SBA. He will be joined by David Rodriguez, Osceola County Department of Economic Development, Laudi Campo,
FL State Director, Hispanic Federation, and Sheena Ferguson, Economic Development Manager, Orange County.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m., the second panel “Government Relief Efforts and Contracting Opportunities” will be moderated by William A. Ramos, senior advisor to Assistant Secretary, EDA, US Department of Commerce. He will be joined by Darlene Bullock, Executive Director, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, DHS; Jonel F, Hein, District Director, SBA North Florida; and Alberto Pillot, FEMA.
From 11:15 to 11:45, we will greet and meet with Hon. Rick Scott, US Senator, State of Florida.
Our Leadership Business Luncheon will take place from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. We will be addressed by Mr. Jose Alvarez, Regional Administrator, Region IV, US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Luncheon Closing Remarks will be presented by Congressman Darren Soto, Florida District #9.
Following our Luncheon, we will present a special workshop entitled Puerto Rico/Florida: Two Markets That Work for You. This workshop will be moderated by Hon. Eddie Charbonnier, Puerto Rico House of Representatives. Also participating will be Hon. Nitza Moran, Senator for San Juan, Puerto Rico, Lourdes Aponte, President, United Retailers Association of Puerto Rico, Horacio Maysonet, Cyber Security; and Maximiliano J. Trujillo, USDA Rural Development, Puerto Rico Director.

The Osceola Chamber Presents Osceola Update 2023
Kissimmee, FL - The Osceola Chamber presented its Osceola Update, on May 31, at Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee.
This annual event takes a look at the economic and legislative landscape of the Osceola community. Letitia Adams, Senior Government Relations Manager with presenting sponsor Disney lead a panel discussion with state legislators who represent Osceola County. Participating legislators included State Senator Victor Torres, District 45 Representative Carolina Amesty, District 46 Representative Kristen Arrington, and District 47 Representative Paula Stark. Discussion questions included those pre-submitted by attendees.
On the federal side, Congressman Darren Soto (FL, District 9) talked about the recent Congressional Session.
The program also featured a discussion of the economic outlook for the county and state by University of Central Florida econo mists Dr. Sean Snaith, Director of the Institute for Economic Competitiveness, and Dr. Paul Jarley, Dean of the UCF College of Business.
Topics touched included the likeliness of a recession in the near future and its potential impact on Central Florida and the tourism industry, inflation, the Federal Reserve and interest rates, Disney, and the outlook for our housing and labor markets.
