A NEW PARTNERSHIP! A NEW PARTNERSHIP!
MYRCENE ALE / SAYBROOK POINT
RESORT & MARINA
Set sail for an unforgettable experience with Harbor Master NEIPA, a captivating new brew born from the exciting partnership between Saybrook Point Resort & Marina and Myrcene Ale Company. Embracing the essence of the sea, Harbor Master is more than just a beer; it’s a tribute to the legendary women of Old Saybrook. This collaboration showcases the synergy between Saybrook Point Resort & Marina and the twoyear-old Myrcene Ale Company, who are proud to craft a custom beer that embodies the spirit of our coastal community.
Just like the trident-wielding mermaid on its label, Harbor Master NEIPA commands attention. This juicy New England India Pale Ale combines time-honored brewing techniques with bright, floral, and citrus notes, creating a taste as vibrant and refreshing as the coastal waters where the Connecticut River meets the Long Island Sound.
The rich history of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, is woven with the stories of resilient women. Lady Fenwick, the “warrior princess” renowned for her healing herbs, and the celebrated actress Katharine Hepburn are just two of the many influential figures. Harbor Master NEIPA honors these trailblazing women and their legacies.
For over 15 years, women have led our marina, guiding and protecting this cherished harbor. Their leadership reflects the strength and perseverance that define Old Saybrook.
Enjoy this exceptional brew at Saybrook Point Resort & Marina, where every sip is a salute to these powerful women. This collaboration is just one of many, including Oysters at the Point, showcasing Saybrook Point’s commitment to local culture and flavors.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, raise your glass and honor the proud women of Old Saybrook with Harbor Master NEIPA. Cheers to the legends of the past and the stories yet to be told!

NEXT STEPS IN TRANSITIONING TO COLLEGE CLASS 101
Receiving an acceptance letter from and committing to a college or university is an exciting part of the high school senior experience, but once the summer before your student’s first year of college arrives, what happens next in the college planning journey? This stage can be uncertain for students AND families but be assured that you are on track if you are already preparing to tackle the steps involved in the enrollment process.
By now, a great deal of effort has already gone into watching for financial packages, ranking accepted colleges, visiting topranked colleges if possible, pursuing outside scholarships, and making a choice that makes sense for the student and family. Well-deserved congratulations are in order, but there is still some work left to be done.
Once your student has been accepted to and has committed to attending the college or university of choice, the institution will provide them with access to its academic portal, which is designed to be the roadmap to their transition into college.
Pay careful attention to the (typically online) portal as it provides essential information about procedures and timelines for completing the various tasks involved in this transition, such as paying enrollment fees, accepting financial aid, signing up for housing, registering for orientation, and even selecting a roommate. Being fully aware of and staying up to date with these responsibilities will help ensure the best possible college enrollment experience for everyone!

THE KATE THE KATE
A SIZZLING SUMMER AT THE KATE!
This summer is certainly one for the books at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (the Kate) as the Kate brings some of the most iconic artists in the music industry to town. Here are a few shows you won’t want to miss:
· July 23rd – American Idol season seven winner David Cook rocks the Kate
· July 27th – Legendary comedic actress Vicki Lawrence performs two shows with her alter-ego, Mama
· July 29th & 30th – Energetic, Irish folk-rockers The High Kings return for two nights
· August 4th – Grammy-winning artist Marc Cohn (Walkin’ in Memphis)

Plus, the summer also has Peter Yarrow and Noel ‘Paul’ Stookey carrying on the tradition of Peter, Paul and Mary; bluegrass greats The Travelin’ McCourys; New Orleans style jazz with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band; and world-class chamber music with the Chestnut Hill Concert Series.
For theater enthusiasts, the Saybrook Stage Company’s 25th theatrical production – an original play by Old Saybrook resident Terri Corigliano – premieres on July 18th and runs through the 21st. LODGE LODGE tells the connected stories of love, laughter, heartbreak and happiness of the vacationers that have found their way to this unique place.
Summer wouldn’t be complete without the Kate Gala – save the date of Saturday, September 7th and keep an eye out for the announcement of the 2024 Spirit of Katharine Hepburn Award recipient! Until then, learn about Miss Hepburn at the Katharine Hepburn Museum located on the Kate’s first floor, open Tuesday through Sunday.
