Break through Communication
Collaborative Leadership
••••••••••••
••••••••••••
Trust is not a prerequisite for communication. It is a byproduct of communication. Yet leaders are often confounded by the complex challenge of confronting communication breakdowns, even when ignoring them stifles the development of strong relationships, quality decision making, high performance teams, and trust.
Most leaders understand that in order to move from good to great, everyone must join together, working as a team to deliver seamless products and services. This means creating an engaged culture where people offer suggestions and input about their work, develop innovative solutions and evolve the next generation of leaders.
Managing conflict constructively means having the challenging conversations necessary to deliver seamless products and service for your organisation or community. This requires an engaged culture where people from all departments have tangible skills and tools to transform conflict into solved problems, strengthened relationships and deepened trust. Only then does conflict become a stimulus for creative problem solving, increased innovation, and the inter-dependent performance required in today’s organisations.
The Glasers utilise their dramatic skills to recreate compelling conflict scenarios directly from the lives of the audience. This program has evolved from three decades of their own published, field-tested research and introduces participants to concrete, tangible skills to ▪▪ Decode the hidden world of non-verbal communication to understand what people are really saying ▪▪ Teach people how their behaviour is a problem without making them feel defensive ▪▪ Convert criticism from defensiveness and blame to insight and agreement ▪▪ Raise difficult issues that simultaneously solve problems and strengthen relationships ▪▪ Transform the organisation’s culture from avoidance to positive engagement ▪▪ Clarify perceptions before making assumptions ▪▪ Create trust through conflict.
This program has evolved from three decades of their own published research, and it reveals the key ingredients that make meetings great and allow individuals with very different opinions to achieve consensus from disagreement. Participants will learn research based skills, protocols and models to ▪▪ Build agreement, coalition, and support from divergent positions
Communication
Even with the best of intentions, many of us communicate automatically, often making blunders that take a toll on our professional and personal lives. The models presented in this workshop offer flexible guidelines with progressive steps that are easily learned, applied, and adapted in order to develop and maintain strong, positive relationships and to actually create trust through conflict.
This can only be accomplished when key leaders learn tangible skills for building consensus and solving problems collaboratively. For the last 39 years Drs. Susan and Peter Glaser have been providing organisations with the primary ingredients that fuel successful dialogue, thoughtful engagement, and creative problem solving.
▪▪ Avoid pitfalls that polarises and torpedo creative thinking ▪▪ Create a meeting climate free from personal attack, wheel spinning, and negativity ▪▪ Facilitate meetings that generate involvement from everyone ▪▪ Implement a model that keeps comments brief, persuasive and on point ▪▪ Apply a five-step problem-solving approach that crafts agreements which convert to action ▪▪ Balance input from the dominating and quiet people ▪▪ Learn when and how to use the three decision-making models: command, consultive, consensus. •••••••••••• Investment M $ 85.00 + GST NM $ 145.00 + GST Group discount | Book 11 - 12th FREE

Not On Our Patch® A Safety Leadership Programme ••••••••••••
A safety leadership programme to develop and sustain a safe culture and improve health and safety performance. Programme objective Not On My Patch is designed to develop the knowledge, mindset and practices necessary to support effective safety leadership and to develop a strong safety culture where safety and accountability are balanced and where health and safety performance is improved through learning. It provides leaders with an understanding of the importance of effective leadership in developing and sustaining safety culture, as well as the tools and resources to do so. Learning content Not On My Patch modules cover, in varying degrees of detail

-- Why people sometimes do seemingly inexplicable things and what can be done about it, and -- The barriers and defences that can protect “imperfect people operating within imperfect organisations” ▪▪ Exploring the principles of ‘just culture’ ▪▪ Demonstrating how a just culture decision model ensures that actions can be dealt with fairly and consistently ▪▪ Developing an awareness of importance of viewing all near misses and incidents are seen as opportunities to learn and improve health and safety. Safety emerges through learning. Not On Our Patch® is a practical programme, but one that builds on the work of noted thinkers such as James Reason, Erik Hollnagel, David Woods, and Sidney Dekker. It uses a variety of learning approaches including organising frameworks, case studies, group discussion, multimedia, and job aids and applies these to common safety challenges in order to test and consolidate understanding of the key concepts.

Achieving Work-Life Balance
Building Personal Resilience
••••••••••••
••••••••••••
In today’s demanding environment, we are often required to achieve more with fewer resources. With the many demands placed upon them, aspects of their life can become compromised resulting in poor work-life balance. Poor work-life balance can result in frustration, stress and consequently have a negative impact on work performance and overall quality of life.
No two people are exactly alike. Neither are the things that create stress or the way they respond to them. Researchers agree that a certain amount of stress is necessary to maintain vitality and enthusiasm for life. Too much stress, however, can cause health problems, impair performance and reduce overall quality of life.
The challenge is that work-life balance means different things to different people. To achieve work-life balance, you must start by clarifying what it means to you to achieve it.
Health + Wellness
You will identify your unique indicators that suggest you are ‘unbalanced’. Early identification of these indicators enables a strategy to be implemented sooner, which enhances the likelihood for success. Finally, you will identify personal and practical strategies that will enhance your ability to achieve the ideal work-life balance for you.
Our ability to manage stress depends on how resilient we are. That is, our ability to adapt or bounce back after a disappointment. If our resilient natures are not utilised, the often relentless pressures will wear us down, hurt us physically and mentally or burn us out. Put in practice, however, and it will buoy us during setbacks or times of difficulty, and bring us health and personal vitality throughout our lives.
••••••••••••
This Building Personal Resilience workshop is designed to look at resilience from a holistic perspective to provide participants with the opportunity to identify practical strategies to enhance their resilience thus putting them in the best position to manage their sources of stress as effectively as they can.

Energise Presentation
The Challenge of Change Resilience
••••••••••••
••••••••••••
Time is a constant for us all – individual energy, and subsequent engagement, is the key variable. Energise will provide you with a better understanding of natural energy fluctuations and how to use this understanding to maximise your productivity and performance, both inside and outside of the workplace.
Conventional stress management programmes are commonly based on the view that life-events like moving house or changing jobs are the cause of stress. If anyone moves house we automatically assume they must be stressed, but if events are inherently stressful then stress becomes inevitable – how many of the things that occur in your life can you avoid?

This programme offers a unique and revolutionary alternative view that focuses on resilience rather than stress, and the principle is that resilient people don’t get stressed. Based on a solid foundation of internationally-recognised research, the Challenge of Change Resilience programme is extremely practical and has been shown to provide significant benefits for participants, both professionally and personally.

Stress is how you react to the event, not the event itself, and you have a choice whether you get stressed or not. People also assume that ‘a bit of stress is good for you’, but if you ask how they feel when they’re stressed, the answer is usually miserable and upset. There is no such thing as good stress.

Bullying in the Workplace •••••••••••• Workplace bullying is a concern for all organisations. It is not a new concept, nor, unfortunately, does it seem to be going away. There is however, a growing awareness of the effects bullying behaviour can have on individuals and organisations. Bullying can affect health, reduce productivity, drain resources, and have legal implications for the employer and managers. Designed for All employers and employees. It is especially beneficial to managers operating at all levels of seniority, because behaviours change quicker and for the long-term if the ‘buy-in’ is from the top down.

Performance, Discipline + Procedural Fairness •••••••••••• To ensure that all levels of management understand the distinction between performance and disciplinary issues and they observe the rules of procedural fairness at all stages of the disciplinary procedure. In the event of a dismissal being challenged through a personal grievance, substantial emphasis is placed on employers proving not only that the dismissal is justifiable but more particularly that the employer’s handling of the case is procedurally fair. Notwithstanding the fact you may have grounds to dismiss, a procedural defect may destroy your case, it is important that all employers understand their responsibilities. Parental Leave
Warnings
••••••••••••
••••••••••••
Are you confused about the five different types of parental leave which your employees', both male and female, may be entitled to?
Employers may want to formally warn employees for any number of reasons.
Are you clear about what your legal obligations actually are in respect of parental leave and what parental leave is paid and what is unpaid?
For an employer to be able to rely on a warning, employment law requires following a certain process, especially if you may want to dismiss the employee later if their behaviour does not improve.
This session will be a useful refresher about the Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987 and its implications.
Come along and get a feel for good management practice and some of the obligations the law may impose on you when you want to issue an employee with a formal warning.
