The 24th Annual East Coast Gaming Congress & NexGen Gaming Forum (ECGC), scheduled for Oct. 25-26, 2021, is the gaming industry’s second-largest conference, and an essential forum for examining and coordinating ideas regarding the future of online and land-based gaming. The future of the industry requires a synchronized, holistic approach, and ECGC has risen to meet that challenge with an approach that is simply the best way to address igaming, sports betting, land-based gaming and all gaming-related issues. ECGC is designed to make sure that all the critical issues are dealt with in the same forum. Leaders—from government, suppliers and operators—who will collectively set the policies and make the decisions, are brought into one place where their ideas can be cross-pollinated and placed in the broadest context. Using Face Recognition to Combine Virus Protection and Responsible Gaming Measures
COVID brings new difficulties to knowing and protecting your customers. It’s hard enough for your security staff to recognize self-excluded, underage or banned patrons, let alone check if they are wearing masks. Face recognition can help. Generating real-time notifications, the FaceVACSVideoScan solution can detect known persons, such as VIP customers, and alert you to persons wearing or not wearing masks. As a bonus, the software analyzes faces to produce statistics about people count, age, gender and movement. If you need to trace the spread of contagions, the software can track a person through the premises, and show who they interacted with. Entry and exit cameras can record all visitor appearances, which can be used to compute the time patrons spent on premise. Aside from contact tracing, you can use this feature to warn people who have overstayed their time in the gaming areas. Continued on Page 12

Over the last years, Zitro’s greatest hits such as Link King, Link Me, 88 Link and Bashiba have captured an enormous ship share in Europe and Latam, and now they are also gaining a growing popularity in Florida, Oklahoma, and more recently, California, the states where Zitro has made its first inroads on U.S. soil. Far from just waiting for the COVID-19 crisis to pass, Zitro has been working hard during the times of the pandemic to catch up with its ambitious game development and product engineering plan, to be able to respond to the increasing demand of its successful games worldwide. As a result of those efforts, the company has already announced the launch of Glare, a brand new product line, with multiple form factors, and a large library of titles to guarantee fresh content and amazing, unique experiences to players. The titles running on the new product line will also run on the existing Continued on Page 12
Midax Uses Lockdown as an Opportunity
While others furloughed their production staff, Midax decided to double down on the opportunity to develop its product range strategically, building on its pre-existing platform of the Tribal One loyalty and fleet programs, integrated into player points databases. Midax expanded its mobile app to handle order ahead, at the c-store and on the way to the c-store, delivery and pickup at the grocery store, enabling users to pay with player points on their mobile device and enjoy built-in frequency rewards at the c-store, grocery store and QSR. The next step is mobile order at the slot machine, so Midax can turn servers into expeditors. Midax has agreed with hospitality providers such as Agilysys and Micros to integrate its c-store applications into their systems for a seamless customer experience across the tribal property. SKECHERS Direct Caters to the Casino and Gaming Industry An interview with Harold Surabian, National Sales Manager, SKECHERS Direct. GN: How long has SKECHERS been in this business, offering a line of work shoes?
HS: Actually, SKECHERS originally started in 1992 as a utility footwear company, so this goes back to our roots from day one. Most people are really surprised to see the vast assortment of work shoes that SKECHERS makes. You can see in our booth that we provide a lot of options for casino and gaming team members who want to look stylish, stay safe from slips and falls and be comfortable throughout their shifts.
GN: Tell our readers about the SKECHERS Direct Corporate Shoe Program. Who can join?
HS: Our corporate shoe program has been out for about 10 years now and it’s available to companies with 200 or more employees who are based in the U.S. or Canada. It’s a cost-free program with no minimum purchasing requirements, no
set-up fees—no costs whatsoever. Your employees simply buy direct from SKECHERS and get 30% off year-round on our SKECHERS work shoes and corporate casual styles. GN: Can you accommodate companies with uniform requirements that include shoes?
HS: Yes. Purchases can be made online on our SKECHERS e-commerce site that is customized to the uniform needs of your company. If you require black slipresistant shoes, your employees won’t see a brown boot on the website, so they can’t purchase it thinking that it would be okay to wear to work. That’s the beauty of our program compared to many of our competitors. GN: How long does it take to get the shoes ordered through the website?
HS: Orders usually ship within 48 hours and online orders receive free shipping and free returns. If you have an employee who you hire and they need shoes immediately or would simply like to try on their shoes before purchasing, they can

also shop at any of our 500-plus SKECHERS retail stores nationwide and in Canada. We have a SKECHERS retail store in every major city and this is an enormous benefit that none of our competitors can touch. GN: Are there any other benefits?
HS: Yes. Our slip-resistant shoes come with a $5,000 Slip and Fall Warranty that helps protect your company from the expensive consequences of slips and falls in the workplace. Plus, your employees will enjoy our quarterly friends and family day events, which allow them to extend their 30% discount on SKECHERS shoes for the entire family. This includes kids’ shoes, sandals, casual shoes and our performance line of running, walking and golf shoes, and we have now added apparel and accessories to these events (over 3,000 styles to choose from). This is another employee benefit that our competitors can’t offer, as they only make work shoes.

Arizona Tribes Sign Historic Tribal-State Gaming Compact with Governor Ducey National Indian Gaming Association Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr., joined tribes in Arizona at the Heard Museum to witness the official signing of significant tribal-state gaming compact amendments and a 25-year extension with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. The amendments and the associated legislation took more than five years to negotiate. It ensures gaming in Arizona remains limited and regulated while providing certainty for the future of the tribe’s and the state’s economy. Chairman Stevens said, “What a great day for tribal government gaming and the tribes in Arizona. It was truly an honor to bear witness to this significant gaming compact signing ceremony between sovereign tribal governments and the state of Arizona.” Stevens added,
“First and foremost, tribal government gaming has always been about providing vital services to our tribal citizens towards ensuring future generations. Further, it affirms that tribes are great neighbors and friends who continue to do our part to contribute to the economic growth and critical jobs for American families.” The compact agreement is good until the year 2046 and allows casino expansions for tribes to operate thousands of more slot machines, open at least four new casinos, and take bets on new table games. It also includes amendments for a sport-betting law that allows tribes and professional sports organizations to open twenty sportsbooks in Arizona. addressed the ceremony’s audience, saying, “The Gila River Indian Community is proud to partner with other tribes and the state to come to a gaming agreement that benefits all communities. Gaming enhances economic development and job growth within our tribe, and it provides funding sources for education, housing, and much more for tribes throughout Arizona.” Governor Lewis added, “We argued before we agreed, and we fought before we found middle ground, but here we are today, celebrating the most unique unicorn in political life – a genuine win for us all.” Arizona Governor Doug Ducey said, “I can’t overstate the impact the tribal-state gaming compact amendment and its associated legislation will have on our state. Gaming employs thousands of Arizonans, and it generates millions in tax revenue that benefits areas like K-12 education, conservation, and treatment centers. Today’s
signing is a culmination of years of partnership and engagement among many diverse stakeholders — and we did it by bringing everyone to the table, pushing individual agendas aside, and putting Arizona first.” Arizona’s first tribal-state gaming compacts were entered in 1992. Arizona voters approved the continuation of tribal gaming ten years later with the passage of Proposition 202. Since then, all 22 federally recognized tribal nations in Arizona have entered into compacts with the state, establishing a relationship that has been mutually beneficial to the tribes and the state. As of December 2020, there has been nearly $1.5 billion in total tribal contributions to the state, counties, cities, and towns in Arizona since the original compacts were signed. Further, Arizona tribal government gaming employs 38,000 Arizonans in ancillary industries such as food service, hospitality, and tourism.
