NHTSA reported that there were 38,680 traffic fatalities in 2020, a huge number despite the drastic reduction in miles traveled due to the pandemic. For reference, that is a 7.2% increase over 2019 before there was any effect from the pandemic. However, Heidi King, prior acting director of the NHTSA, has said the true number is probably higher. “Safety is the top priority for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Loss of life is unacceptable on our nation’s roadways, and everyone has a role to play in ensuring that they are safe. We intend to use all available tools to reverse these trends and reduce traffic fatalities and injuries,” said Dr. Steven Cliff, NHTSA’s acting administrator. The major fatality types that saw drastic increases include motorcyclists and pedal cyclists; those represent increases of 9% and 5%, respectively. Pollution Control Burn-Off Ovens: How Do They Work? Pollution Control Burn-Off Ovens are safe and easy to operate, and pollutionfree! They are basically process ovens operating at temperatures of 800-900ºF (426-482ºC) inside the primary cleaning chamber. Simply load your cart with parts, set your cycle timer, push the start button, and the furnace does the rest. The loads placed in the oven usually consist of metal parts: paint and powder coating fixtures, hooks and racks, automotive engine blocks, electric motor stators, breaker plates, extrusion dies, nozzle tips, heat exchangers, or other metal parts coat-
