2020-2021 SEASON THE CURTAIN RISES AGAIN

unstoppable ENTERTAINMENT Friends,

has a new meaning.

What a time this is. Broadway is closed until 2021, titans of entertainment are filing for bankruptcy, artist tours and festivals are not happening, and performing arts organizations of all kinds are all trying to figure out on a daily basis how to keep going and employ anyone they can in the field. The arts sector was the first to collapse (and it was brutal) and will be among the last to be able to come back. It is time.

If I’ve learned anything in my sixteen years as Director of The Grand Oshkosh, it is that we are resilient—as an organization, as a staff, as volunteers, and as supporters like you. Together, we survived the Great Recession of 2008-09 and the closing of The Grand for repair in 2009-10—at the same time. Together, we have triumphed, laughed, cried, struggled, and survived, together. And so it will be with this pandemic. The Grand closed on March 14—and was online with “The Grand at Home” programming by March 20. Our staff have been warriors—creatively navigating through this, and working on ways to move forward. All Grand-presented shows have been or will be rescheduled. With your help, we are finding our way through. And, if the circumstances allow—we will begin again, slowly, on September 12. Yes, there will be reduced and distanced audiences. Yes, there will be face masks. Yes, there are dozens of policies and changes, designed to keep everyone safe and comfortable. Yes, the schedule for fall is light. Yes, it will feel different, and for who knows how long. But the plan is to begin again, as we did in August 2010. I know, and you know, that this is an ever-changing crisis, and of course, circumstances may change. But, for every Plan A, we have a Plan B. In some cases, a Plan C. If there is a way to safely provide entertainment and educational programming to the Fox Valley, we will find it. That’s my pledge. Now, we come to your part. It is an absolutely terrifying time to sit in my chair, and we depend now, as we did in 2009, in fact more than ever, on your support, to make it through. If you can purchase tickets, please do. If you can donate, please be generous. If you can help as a sponsor, please contact me. Even as we come out of the dark summer, the metrics of creating programming in a (currently) 223-seat theatre are very, very different. I’ve committed to not adding a “COVID charge” to raise ticket prices. The gap can only be filled by donations and sponsorship. So, onward we go on this roller-coaster with no seatbelts. Our team is moving forward, creatively discovering our way, learning new phrases like “electrostatic cleaning” and “streaming pay-per-view”, and standing ready to face any unknown challenge that may lie ahead.

Please join us. United We Grand! Thank you for all your support. I hope to see you soon—online and at the theater!

Joseph Ferlo

President and CEO Director, The Grand Oshkosh

With the people away... the Spirits came out to play. Let's Welcome them.

Sponsor a Ghost Seat! As we make room to safely distance, we want to still have a full house at The Grand. Now seems like a perfect time to finally include the spirits of The Grand in our performances! We're filling the empty seats with ghosts for each performance! Simply add a number of ghost seats to your ticket order at the box office or thegrandoshkosh.org.

Each ghost seat is a donation of $5. Donate seats to a spirit, a couple of spirits, a ghostly family of four... or as many as you'd like! Help us fill the house all season with 7,000 seats! Current Count: 2030 *This is a donation campaign to sustain The Grand Oshkosh. No part of this is related to an actual ticket or seat to a show.
