Osprey Flight Solutions
For our client, a U.S. based medical services company with a fleet of private business jets that travel globally, our Osprey:Core and Osprey:Flights solutions are proving a soaring success.
An industry leader in medical products, technology and innovation that works across 160+ countries, our client’s fleet of private aircraft, pilots and crew are dedicated to transporting its business executives to all corners of the globe.
THE CHALLENGE
The organisation’s Corporate Security department, while very robust, does not have the capacity to stay readily informed on the unique challenges of aviation operations in global airspace or in foreign countries, and therefore cannot provide an aviation-specific security service. Our client’s Operations Team and Flight Crews were therefore reliant on information obtained from numerous disparate sources, including reviewing US State Department assessments, as well as MedAire and ISOS reports, to gain an understanding of any factors that could potentially affect a flight.
“As a corporate operator, we did not have a dedicated aviation-specific security service to watch over our flights from dispatch through to landing back home on the return leg. The products and reports we were using to try to mitigate flight risk were good, but it was a very time-consuming task. If a risk was flagged we had to do a lot of digging to evaluate the risk level and potential consequences” commented a Senior Captain.
“Osprey’s products have really expanded our knowledge and understanding of factors that might affect a flight – especially with regards to overflying countries. We overfly all kinds of threat areas, and Osprey has become our one-stop shop to mitigate risk. We have a big responsibility and Osprey gives us the confidence that we are as knowledgeable as it is possible to be. ”

THE OSPREY SOLUTION
Originally introduced to Osprey Flight Solutions in our infancy, our client had been using our alerting system, but became aware that our Product Suite had matured and expanded during an aviation roundtable with regional corporate flight departments, where the question was raised “where do you get your aviation intelligence from?”.
Having used our latest solutions for some time, our client has recently renewed its annual subscription to :Core and :Flights.
The Senior Flight Captain commented, “Osprey was on my radar as we’d been using its original alerts for several years, but after the roundtable discussion I looked into it in more detail and the product sold itself due to its specific ability to evaluate the route of a flight. We needed a dedicated aviation-centric tool that would provide pinpointed detail and Osprey has provided us with a consolidated aviation-specific assessment of each route and the locations we are travelling to.”
Today our client’s Operations Team and Flight Crews are reliant on Osprey Flight Solutions to assess and mitigate all flight risks and to give its aviation leadership confidence in their flight planning. Its Operations Team run airport and country reports on every flight request out of the USA. If the reports reveal any red flags, these are communicated to the Director of Operations to investigate further and evaluate any mitigations that might need to be considered.
“Osprey offers the de-facto industry recognised aviation-specific security information for corporate flight operators that need to plan their missions, evaluate routes and any security implications, and make important decisions on what mitigation measures to apply.”
Three weeks prior to a flight, our clients uses :Flights, our industry-leading flight risk assessment tool that enables you to instantaneously risk assess individual flights, to evaluate any risk throughout the flight route. This is then re-assessed one day prior to the flight.
The Senior Flight Captain added, “Osprey’s products have really expanded our knowledge and understanding of factors that might affect a flight – especially with regards to overflying countries. We overfly all kinds of threat areas, and Osprey has become our one-stop shop to mitigate risk. We have a big responsibility and Osprey gives us the confidence that we are as knowledgeable as it is possible to be. It also saves us a great deal of time and effort. Hands down, Osprey offers the de-facto industry recognised aviation-specific security information for corporate flight operators that need to plan their missions, evaluate routes and any security implications, and make important decisions on what mitigation measures to apply.”
