“All the believers were in one heart and mind...” comes from Acts 4:32 and describes the early church. Teams of volunteers from various denominations in the Plant City and Lakeland areas have joined together to present the Fresh Grounded Faith Women’s Conference. The two-day women’s event will take place on Friday, September 13 from 7-9:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 14 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Plant City. The Fresh Grounded Faith conference will feature renowned Bible teacher Jennifer Rothschild, author and teacher Angie Smith, award-winning actress Karen Abercrombie from War Room and worship leader Michael O’Brien. You are invited to join hundreds of women from different churches and denominations to unite under the name of Christ. “It’s all about creating an atmosphere where every woman feels welcome,” said founder and featured speaker Rothschild, who became blind at age 15. “We’ve got women in attendance who have a deep and

rich faith, but we also have women who have a small cup of faith or no faith experience at all. Everyone is welcome—we want to meet women where they are. We’re just real women wanting a refreshing experience that’s packed with relevant truth for everyday living.” The goal of Rothchild’s Fresh Grounded Faith events is to “bring women together so they can connect with God and connect with each other.” For more than a decade, Rothchild and her team have been traversing the country hosting these multi-church events as a way of unifying believers. After successfully hosting a Fresh Grounded Faith event in 2017, First Baptist Church of

Plant City agreed to host and coordinate with area churches once again. Rothschild continued, "It's inspiring to see so many different churches coming together in unity to bring this event to the area. The process of putting on a Fresh Grounded Faith event breaks down traditional denominational barriers and brings women together. There are nearly a hundred volunteers from these different churches working together.” Rothchild has appeared on The Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda, Dr. Phil, Good Morning America and an annual Billy Graham Television Special. More information about Rothschild and the other speakers can be found at https://bit.ly/fgfplant. Tickets are available for purchase at https://bit.ly/ebplant or by calling 752-4104. Early bird tickets purchased by Monday, August 19 are $49 per person and afterward are $54 per person. For groups of 10 or more, call 800-859-7992. Are you stressed under? Does everything feel like it’s heaped on top of you and you’re unable to wriggle out from beneath the pile? Do you feel like one of those trees you see beside Southern highways that’s covered with great green gobs of kudzu? If so, you need an intervention before your hope gets smothered under there. Not to scare you, but hopelessness is a very real possibility. Its seeds are planted amid relentless exhaustion, and you don’t realize it’s taken root and started to kudzu your spirit until you can no longer envision a tomorrow that isn’t as bleakly stressful as today. With our attention splintered a dozen ways at once, the symptoms of being overly stressed can blindside us: unexplained upset stomach, headaches, muscle or joint pain, irritability, inability to focus, insomnia, sudden outbursts of anger, binge-eating or loss of appetite, chronic fatigue, sullen-

Your body is telling you (gut problems), your spirit is telling you (yes, it absolutely is spiritual warfare!) and your emotions are telling you (anxiety): Help! I need a change! When the jeans on your attitude are inflicting a wedgie, you need to unbutton. Adjust. Loosen your uptight. Anxiety is Satan’s best tool to burn us out. But Papa God provides a solution if we choose to take it: “Do not be anxious about anything, but through everything, with supplication and thanksgiving, let your requests be known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4: 6-7). ~Adapted from my new book, Too Blessed to be Stressed for Moms

Tampa Catholic Alumnus Announces $7 Million Gift

Arnie Bellini, a 1976 graduate of Tampa Catholic High School, in cooperation with his family and school administrators, has announced a $7 million gift to

his alma mater. The goal of the gift is to equip students with skills that support the modernization of arts and digital education to create leaders for the 21st century work force. It is the single largest gift to a Catholic school in Florida history and one of the largest to any Florida school. Bellini, the former CEO of ConnectWise, sold his company earlier this year to a Silicon Valley private equity firm. He made the announcement in the Tampa Catholic High School gymnasium to much fanfare with students, parents, alumni and faculty present. ”Our family hopes this will inspire other donors to help us make innovative education a differentiator in Tampa so we can grow talent and keep talent right here, and fill the gap where so many cuts are being made in education budgets,” Bellini said. “For more than 50 years, Tampa Catholic has built upon our traditions of faith, excellence and family by offering a superior high school experience to all our students,” said Robert Lees, Tampa Catholic Principal. “Mr. Bellini’s gift will transform the face of education at Tampa Catholic and impact the entire community for generations to come. His generosity is a wonderful example of leadership that we hope others will follow.”

The Mighty Miracles Of Jesus The Great Catch Of Fish

By Kelly Wise Valdes

Hours: 6am - 10pm During His ministry, Jesus performed more than 40 miracles including healing the sick, changing the natural elements of nature and even raising people from the dead. A miracle is considered an event that occurs outside the bounds of natural law. Each month, we will take a closer look at one of His miracles to understand the depth of His love for us. Understanding the miracles of Jesus can change your life, and it all begins with believing through faith. The Bible describes more than one miracle of Jesus involving fishing. In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus is sitting in a boat, talking to people on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Afterward, he instructs Peter (also known as Simon) to take the boat further into the lake. Jesus said, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch." Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the net." The net went into the water, and immediately they caught such a large number of fish that the net began to break. They summoned another boat to come and help them, and both boats were so full of fish that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!"

Then Jesus said to Simon, "Don't be afraid; from now on you will fish for people." Working for long hours trying to catch fish yet without results was exhausting and discouraging for the fishermen. Peter tells Jesus that they had fished all day with no results, but reluctantly obeys Jesus’ command to try again. Jesus commands Peter to let down his ‘nets’ (plural), yet Peter replies with ‘net’ (singular). Peter’s reluctant obedience is half-hearted. It’s obvious that Peter probably thinks the result would be the same as his earlier lack of fish. His unbelieving thoughts show in his unenthusiastic obedience. At this early stage, Peter is still learning about the power of God. What can we learn through this miracle? When Christ speaks, we should listen and obey His commands. In this case, this miracle affected the work and livelihood of the obedient fishermen. God wants us to be successful in everything we do. He always has our best interest. Had Peter failed to obey Christ's command, he would have been unable to experience both the miracle and the blessing. When we serve, obey and sacrifice, God will reward our efforts with abundant blessings, sometimes even more than what we can imagine. Our nets and our hearts will be overflowing.

Church Of God Camp Meeting June 10-14, Has 105 Year History In June, several thousand worshippers will descend on the small town of Wimauma to participate in the annual Church of God Camp Meeting. They will share in spirited gospel singing, listen to fervent preaching and create emotional religious experiences that lay at the heart of the Church of God Camp Meeting tradition. As a matter of fact, they have been coming to Wimauma for the last 105 years. The Church of God was founded in Tennessee in 1886 and is the oldest Pentecostal Church in America. The annual camp meeting is a cherished tradition of the Church and is still widely held. Florida’s Wimauma Camp Meeting is the oldest and largest Church of God camp-meeting site in the United States still in operation. Pentecostals had been holding camp-meetings at Pleasant Grove, near Durant, for many years before the turn of the 20th century. Most major denominations sponsored at least one camp there a year and rather than continuing to share, the Durant Church sought a new exclusive location. In 1913, land along Tiger Lake (now Lake Wimauma) was selected as the permanent camp and purchased by the Church of God at

By Charlie Nelson

Durant. The scenic beauty of Lake Wimauma had a lot to do with building the camp in Wimauma. The first Wimauma Camp Meeting was held in 1914 and housed in an open-air barn. Campers slept in tents on the ground. A larger Tabernacle replaced the original structure in 1924. Separate male and female dormitories, an expanded tent ground, a cafeteria, and later, small cottages were built to house a growing number of campgoers. As crowds expanded, a third Tabernacle was built: an open-air structure that seated 3,700 worshipers. It was later expanded to seat over 5,000. The open-air construction served late arriving worshippers who could bring their own chairs or sit out on the campgrounds to listen to the five daily services. A fourth, fully enclosed and air-conditioned structure

was built in 1985, which continues to serve the annual camp-meeting and houses today’s Wimauma Convention Center. Each of the five daily services included ‘great preaching by great preachers.’ Camp-worshippers, often numbering around 10,000, were ‘old line Pentecostals’ who were rarely ever passive listeners and were always encouraged to show their emotions during services. It was not uncommon for worshippers to be

moved to tears and raise their hands in praise or, if so moved by the Holy Spirit, to dance in the aisles. When it was time to sing the 'old songs' campers sang loudly and long. Gospel quartets and a 500-voice choir became beloved mainstays of the camping experience. Large crowds continued to attend the annual Camp Meeting as the Church of God in Florida continued to grow. More recently, the camp has been reduced in scope from 10 to five days, and crowds are somewhat smaller, although the annual event will still attract nearly 5,000 to Wimauma when the Camp Meeting next gathers from Monday to Friday, June 10-14 at the Wimauma Camp Meeting Grounds on SR 674. For those who attend, however, they will find the fervor and spirit of the camp meeting to be very much as it has been for the last 105 years. For more information, call 6203366.

Life Size Ark Encounter Offers An Epic Family Adventure In Kentucky By Jeff Hoening

We’ve all heard Christian friends return from a trip to Israel and remark something like "it really makes the Bible come alive seeing the sights where the biblical events took place." The Ark Encounter in Kentucky (much geographically closer than Israel) did just that for us in our recent visit. It's a massive, full-size replica of Noah's ark that also houses a world-class museum. In Genesis chapter 6 at the direction of God, Noah and his family, along with ‘two of every kind’ of creature, built and sealed themselves into an enormous ark ahead of a worldwide flood that destroyed all life on earth.

Located in Williamstown, Kentucky, The Ark Encounter features a full-size replica of Noah’s Ark from the Bible.

Once on the ark, visitors are transported back in time to marvel at its interior and exterior construction, wander through its animal pens and innovative feeding mechanisms and explore three-decks of world-class exhibits showing how Noah and his family may have lived. Informative exhibits clearly and informatively address key questions like "How did they all fit?" and "Were dinosaurs on board?" You also see many scientific contrasts between Creationism

and Evolution and how the Great Flood impacted the Earth’s history. We were particularly moved by how the Ark Encounter artfully displays the ark and its account in the Bible as a true historical event along with its metaphoric connection to our salvation in Christ. The Ark Encounter is great for families but take your time because you'll be doing a lot of walking. If you want to fill the day with even more fun, the park also offers the Ararat Ridge Zoo, featuring ani-

mals from around the world like Tibetan yaks and kangaroos; Extreme Zip Lines, with 1,000 ft. zip lines, soaring 17 stories in the air and reaching speeds up to 50 mph; a Fossil Find, where you learn about science from a biblical perspective; as well as daily events, dining and great gifts unique to the Ark experience. For even more fun, you can purchase tickets to the Ark Encounter's sister attraction, the Creation Museum, a stateof-the-art, 75,000 sq. ft. museum, bringing the pages of the Bible to life. Ark Encounter is located at 1 Ark Encounter Drive, Williamstown, KY 41097. Tickets start at $15 and excursion packages are available. For more information, you can visit www.arkencounter.com.

The first Honorary Mayor’s Race took place 60 years ago. Brandon High School teacher Nat Storms took home the title after raising $500 with the campaign slogan “A Pig for Every Pot.”

Soles Shaping Souls was founded last year by Camden Grant, a student at Newsome High School. Grant started the charity as a donation drive with the hopes of gaining enough funds to provide the students at Booker T. Washington Elementary School with a new pair of shoes each. After an overwhelming response for donations, she decided to form a 501(c)(3) and keep working to help as many students as possible. Kagey has arranged eight events to take place during the mayor’s race to raise funds for her charities. After a kickoff event on Sunday, June 2, the campaign will host a Coach Bingo at The Barn at Winthrop on Thursday, June 6. A movie night is also scheduled for June 11, a Clay Shoot for June 15, a bunco for June 18, Spirit Night at Chipotle on June 25, Tea and Fashion Show on June 29 and Family Fun Night at The Alley on Sunday, June 30. Christian Networking Group Honors Teachers In Christian Education At Breakfast

By Amanda Boston

Christian Business Connections (CBC) is a business networking organization devoted to Christian values. The Brandon group meets every Monday from 8-9:15 a.m. at the Golden Corral in Brandon. Each meeting starts and ends with prayer along with a Bible devotional time. “It is a great way to start my week,” said Barbara Kemp, secretary of CBC. “The referrals are important, but there is simply a wealth of knowledge and support that comes from being a part of a group like this.” CBC exists to foster growth for its members, both spiritually and in their businesses, while enriching the local community. In 2016, it inaugurated the Shining Light Teacher Award to recognize teachers with exemplary performance in Christian education. Based on the verses in Titus 2:7-8, the award recognizes “Christian leadership, commitment to educational excellence and the impact that teachers make in student’s lives.” "As a group, we want to give back to the community, which is why Christian Business Connections sponsors events like the Shining Light Award," said

On May 13, the CBC honored the finalists with breakfast and a gift basket.

Jorgie Franks Bell, president of CBC. To be considered for the Shining Light Award, the teacher must be a Christian educator, peernominated and interviewed by the CBC selection committee. Once nominated, students and parents then provide testimonies to why they think a particular teacher

should receive the award. “It is really amazing to see how much this award has grown over the years,” said Kris Beaird, vice president of CBC. “We are excited to have nine teachers from six different Christian schools. The caliber of the teachers is really impressive. Being a part of the judging committee, it is so humbling to see how much hard work all these teachers put into teaching and reaching their students." On May 13, the CBC honored the nine finalists with a special breakfast and a gift basket. Dina

Rodriguez from Nativity Catholic School was announced as the overall winner. Mrs. Rodriguez teaches Spanish for grades 1-8 and has been at Nativity for 13 years. She is involved in the Emmaus Ministry, Coro Hispano, Spanish Lector’s, School Choir, Liturgy preparation, Girl Scouts, NJHS committee and the Student Leadership Team. The other finalists were Jennifer Boucher (Media Center Director), Linda Heath (Physical Education) and Heather O’Chalek (Music) from Bell Shoals Baptist Academy; Sr. Regina Maraizu (Core and Religion) from Cutting Edge Learning Academy; Kelly De Boef (Preschool) from Foundation Christian Academy; Therese Whitehurst (Lead Teacher) from Livingstone Academy; and Galatia Nonnenkamp (Math & Science), and Jamie Stencel (ESE Teacher) from St. Stephen Catholic School. Local Scout Dedicates Eagle Scout Project To An Influential Figure In His Life

By Taylor Wells

By Kelly Wise Valdes

Notre-Dame – The Race To Save History On Monday, April 15, the world collectively watched in disbelief as the beloved Notre-Dame Cathedral burned. The iconic Gothic cathedral, which dates from the 12th century, was a masterpiece with its flying buttresses, incredible stained glass windows and carved gargoyles. It housed priceless Catholic relics and artifacts, paintings, statues and other treasured artwork. The cathedral's exterior has been the subject of numerous paintings, and it was the inspiration for Victor Hugo's famous novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Aside from being one of the most important religious sites in France, it's also a symbol of Paris, and one of the city's most visited monuments with more than 30,000 people visiting the cathedral each day. As we learned, it is thought that an electrical fire sparked the blaze while the cathedral was undergoing renovation. It took nearly 12 hours and more than 400 firefighters to bring the fire under control. Spectators witnessed the great spire burn and tumble from its height of 305 feet to the ground as well as parts of the roof collapsing. Amazingly, the structural integrity of the towers and some of the building survived. Fortunately, some of the cathedral’s priceless treasures were rescued during the fire, including a centuries-old Crown of Thorns made from reeds and gold as well as the Blessed Sacrament. These valuables were taken to the Louvre Museum for safekeeping. Copper statues representing the 12 apostles and four evangelists were removed just days before as part of the restoration project. Despite the devastating inferno, when the fire was extinguished, the world was amazed to see that the altar and cross had survived. Experts plan to fortify and rebuild the 850-year-old cathedral. Donations have been abundant from French philanthropists and charities to fund the extensive rebuilding that is projected to take

between 20 – 40 years to complete with an estimated cost of 3.3 billion dollars. This disaster spurred an outpouring of love and memories for NotreDame on social media. Countless people posted their memories and past pictures standing in front of the iconic cathedral. Unfortunately, when there is a disaster, there also can be fraudulent fundraising to take advantage of people’s generosity. Before donating to an organization or a crowdfunding project for the rebuilding of Notre-Dame, research the organization first. Search online for the name of the organization plus the word ‘complaint’ or ‘scam.’ Read what others say about the organization. It's important to ask questions. If you get a call from someone asking for money to help rebuild the cathedral, ask exactly how your money will be used. Research thoroughly before donating to an unfamiliar organization. Crowdfunding sites may not monitor how donations are spent. Online fundraisers should explain how your money gets to the charity. They should also let you know if any amount of the gift will be kept as a fee. Donations to foreign organizations generally are not taxdeductible. For tax deduction information, check if the group is established in the United States or search the IRS’s Tax Exempt Organization to see if your donation would be tax-deductible. Remember that donations to individuals, like in crowdfunding sites, are not taxdeductible. CBS News recently reported that The Friends of Notre-Dame, a 501(c)3 public charity, was accepting donations that are tax-deductible in the United States. For more information, visit www.notredamedeparis.fr/friends/donate/. It’s inspiring and encouraging to witness such passion from around the world cohesively supporting the rebuilding of Notre-Dame. The cathedral is a fundamental part of Paris’ architecture, history and identity. It would be difficult to imagine Paris without Notre-Dame.

Florida Teens Stranded At Sea Call Out To God, Rescued By Captain Of Ship Called 'The Amen' Two Florida teens are thanking God for their lives for after being stranded at sea and then rescued. Tyler Smith and Heather Brown were spending the day swimming at Vilano Beach when they realized they had drifted two miles from the shore. Being so far from the coast and growing tired, the two knew they were in danger, so they began to call out to God. Captain Eric Wagner of a boat called ‘The Amen’ sailing from South Florida to New Jersey spotted the teens in the water. Wagner and his crew were able to pull Smith and Brown out of the water. "Overall the wind, waves and engines, we thought we heard a desperate scream," said Wagner. "Exhausted and near the end, the boy told me he called out for God's help. Then we showed up." Smith said it was clear that God had saved them. He said, “From us crying out to God for Him to send someone for us to keep living and a boat named 'Amen,' there's no way that it wasn't Him."

When Woman Shared Photo Of Anonymous Gift Found In A Book, It Sparks A Chain Of Good Deeds

An anonymous act of kindness has sparked a ripple effect of good deeds across Missouri after a woman bought a $17 book from Target in May. Ashley Jost (27) was shopping at Target looking for a book for a reading challenge she committed to with her friends. The challenge consisted of reading 10 pages of a book every day for 75 days. With this in mind, Jost grabbed a copy of Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals, by Rachel Hollis. Upon returning home, Jost sat down on her couch and started reading when a $5 bill fell out of the book. Jost began thumbing through the

pages of the book and found a pink sticky note tucked between the chapters. The note read: “To the person who buys this book: I am having a tough day. I thought maybe I could brighten someone else’s with this little surprise. Go buy a coffee, donut or a face mask. Practice some self-care today. Remember that you are loved. You are amazing. You are strong. Love, Lisa.”

Notice Of Nondiscriminatory Policy As To Students

Jost was touched by the note and wanted to share the sweet gesture with her friends on social media, so she posted a photo of the note and cash to Twitter. The photo garnered thousands of retweets and likes, and then various news outlets eventually publicized it. Flooded with responses from people who have been inspired to do their own random act of kindness for a stranger, Jost has since left her own note and gift card inside of a library book; she gave a gift card to her friend going through a hard time; and she paid for the coffee of the person behind her at the Starbuck’s drive-thru. Jost says that she hopes the news stories and media attention will eventually reach Lisa, the author of the pink note so that she knows the full impact of her simple act of kindness.

By Kelly Wise Valdes I Can Only Imagine Film Being Used By God To Bring Gospel To China

The director behind I Can Only Imagine, the biggest faith-based movie of last year, has shared how the film is being used all over the world to bring people to God—even in China, where persecution remains severe. China actually funded the movie's translation, despite its extreme opposition to Christianity and ‘Western’ influences on religion. In the same year that China restricted Christianity, they paid for the right to translate the film and distribute it throughout China. Faith-based movies, especially those backed by an American audience, present an opportunity to spread the gospel through the medium of film. The Erwin brothers' 2018 film grossed $85 million worldwide against a production budget of $7 million, becoming the fourth highestgrossing music biopic of all-time in the United States.

Leagues & Summer Fun At The Alley By Libby Hopkins

Summer is just around the corner and parents will be in search of fun activities or camps for their children to be a part of during their summer break. The Alley at SouthShore is one of those fun places for kids and their parents this summer. “The Alley has been a member of the South Shore community since our opening in March 2009,” said Faith Hanaway, Events and Sales Manager at The Alley at South Shore. “I am responsible for FUN at The Alley! Securing and orchestrating birthday parties, field trips, corporate events, family gatherings, networking groups and meetings, banquets and celebrations with our leagues.” The Alley at South Shore is 42,000 sq. ft. of fun that includes 24 bowling lanes, eight lane VIP bowling suites, an arcade packed with nearly 60 new and classic games and billiards, a full service restaurant and bar with big screen entertainment and an ice cream parlor. “Yearround, but most heavily, in the summer, we offer very economically priced field trip packages,” Hanaway said. “We are extremely fortunate to have so many local summer camps, public, private, charter and home schools that allow us to host their children.” During the summer months, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, The Alley

offers Summer Cosmic Bowling. “Cosmic Bowling means black lights, colored twirling lights, even a spinning disco ball, accompanied by very upbeat, ‘mom approved’ music,” Hanaway said. “This year, Summer Cosmic starts on Tuesday, June 4 and ends on Wednesday, August 7. It is available on Tuesdays from 10 a.m.–12 Noon and Wednesdays from 1–3 p.m. and costs $8 per person, and includes bowling shoe rental.” The Alley at South Shore also offers league bowling on a year-round basis. “We have leagues for children of all ages, from three to 93,” Hanaway said. “Summer league session will start in May and June. The cost is nominal and the comradery is priceless. Relationships made on our lanes span distance and time.” League information is available at The Alley and on their website. “This summer, I hope to see The Alley, our lanes, restaurant and arcade full of families enjoying all of the wonderful things we have to offer,” Hanaway said. “Our commitment to providing a safe, familyfriendly entertainment is unwavering. I invite everyone to stop in and have some fun with us.” Visit www.thealleyatsouthshore.com or call Hanaway at 672-8353. The Alley at South Shore is located at 10221 Big Bend Rd. in Riverview.

Honoring A Christian Author - Rachel Held Evans

By Kelly Wise Valdes

Rachel Held Evans, a well-known Christian blogger, author and speaker died on Saturday, May 4 from a massive brain swelling after being hospitalized for an infection. She was 37. Evans left behind two young children, a husband and four books to her name. Her death has been met with grief and appreciation from loyal readers, famous pastors who sparred with her, and especially young people who saw her as a mentor. Evans was a New York Times bestselling author who wrote about faith, doubt and life in the Bible-Belt. She had been featured in the Washington Post, The Guardian, Christianity Today, The Huffington Post, and the CNN Belief Blog, and on NPR, BBC, Today and The View. She served on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and kept a busy schedule speaking at churches, conferences and college and universities around the country. Evans did not lead a denomination or a movement or even a church, but she did invite people to come along as she worked through her relationship with Jesus. She publicly explored her faith and doubts in her writing and will be missed by many.

Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water and Loving Bible Again By: Rachel Held Evans

If the Bible isn't a science book or an instruction manual, then what is it? What do people mean when they say the Bible is inspired? When Rachel Held Evans found herself asking these questions, she began a quest to better understand what the Bible is and how it is meant to be read. What she discovered changed her, and it will change you too. Evans examines some of our favorite Bible stories and discovers that the Bible is not a static work but is a living, breathing book that can equip us to join God's loving and redemptive work in the world.

Faith Unraveled: How a Girl Who Knew All the Answers Learned to Ask Questions By: Rachel Held Evans

In this book, Evans recounts growing up in a culture that is obsessed with apologetics—struggling as her own faith unraveled one unexpected question at a time. In order for her faith to survive, she realizes it must adapt to change and evolve. Using an illustration her own spiritual journey that traveled from certainty to doubt to faith, Evans challenges you to disentangle your faith from false fundamentals and to trust in a God, who is big enough to handle your tough questions.

A Year of Biblical Womanhood By: Rachel Held Evans

See what happens when a thoroughly modern woman starts referring to her husband as "master" and "praises him at the city gate" with a homemade sign. With a mixture of humor and insight, compassion and incredulity, this book is an exercise in scriptural exploration and spiritual contemplation. What does God truly expect of women and is there really a prescription for biblical womanhood? Come along with Evans as she looks for answers in the rich heritage of biblical heroines, models of grace and all-around women of valor.

Searching for Sunday: Loving, Leaving, and Finding the Church By: Rachel Held Evans

In this book, Evans exposes her own thorny relationship with the church, articulating the concerns, frustrations, and hopes of many of her peers. Through a series of stories told around the church's sacraments— baptism, confession, communion and among others, Evans offers the beginnings of a road map back to church and the resurrection that awaits when we are willing to give up and begin again.
