Explore your interests in the Department of Comparative Studies.
WE’RE INTERDISCIPLINARY. Comparative Studies encourages critical reflection about culture across boundaries of discipline, nation and language. On campus, the Department of Comparative Studies is a hub for collaboration. Scholars are brought together from all over the university to study the construction of knowledge and the dynamics of power and authority in a range of historical discourses and practices: social, religious, literary, aesthetic, technological, scientific, political and material. Through our department you’ll have the opportunity to take courses covering anything from Contemporary Social Movements and Love in World Literature, to Cultures of Medicine and Popular Culture and World Religion. Create a cluster that’s meaningful to you!
WE’RE HERE FOR YOU. The Department of Comparative Studies has been redesigned to offer unprecedented faculty support and flexibility for students to pursue their interests. As a comparative studies student, you will have access to the many resources available across the university and the department — including your own faculty advisor! Our department is focused on ensuring students acquire the tools they need to be successful after graduation. The department will be your home as you explore the world.
