WHAT DO MEDICAL ANTHROPOLOGISTS DO? Examine how health and illness are shaped, experienced and understood across cultures and in light of global, historical and political forces. Study healthcare systems and healing practices across human societies. Apply knowledge to improve health, healing, medicine and the well-being of individuals, communities and societies around the world. What makes medical anthropology unique is how it considers human evolutionary history combined with people’s current cultural, economic and political context to shape their health.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS DEGREE? Medical anthropologists work in universities, hospitals and clinics, in public health and for national and international health agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on health. A degree in medical anthropology provides excellent preparation for: • • • • • •
