July 8 August 2, 2019 Sampling Advanced Mathematics for Minority Students
Summer school for undergraduates from underrepresented minorities. A four-week program that allows interested mathematics students to sample topics in graduate-level mathematics in mini-courses and explore the requirements of graduate school through various activities in a major research-university environment.
MINI-COURSES Abstract Algebra • Analysis • Topology • Combinatorics and Probability • Computational Science Skills & Knowledge: • Interaction with Ohio State research faculty • Delivering papers and presentations • How to apply to graduate school • Writing resumes and letters • Training for the GRE subject test
Other Activities: • PhD-qualifier classes for advanced participants • Free use of largest recreational sports facility in U.S. • Day trips to major Ohio attractions
Application Information Applications require one letter of recommendation by a mathematics professor, transcript and the completion of our online form. We will start screening applications in early April and continue admitting students until slots are filled.
