SPANISH MAJOR TRACKS The Spanish Major The major consists of a minimum of 33 credit hours, including four orientation courses required for all tracks: Advanced Grammar, Intermediate Spanish Composition, Intro to the Study of Literature and Culture, and Pronunciation.
Spanish Major Tracks Iberian Literatures and Cultures Latin American Literatures and Cultures Hispanic Linguistics Hispanic Studies Each track consists of a concentration area (9 hours), a diversification area (6 hours), a senior seminar (3 hours) and an elective (3 hours).
Immersion Requirement An approved education abroad program or credit for Spanish 5689S is required.
Spanish Minor The minor consists of a minimum of 15 credit hours at the 3000 level and above. Specialized minors are available in: Spanish Minor for Business, Latino Studies, and Andean and Amazonian studies.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES There is no one career path for students who study Spanish. A major or minor in Spanish opens up many internship and employment opportunities during and after college, whether you choose a future in health services or social work, travel and tourism, journalism, law and policy making, or even customer support.
