Internationally, OIL plans to seek to continue acquiring mixed por tfolio of producing and exploration assets. OIL intends to implement this strategy both through joint ventures with other leading industr y par ticipants, as well as through its MoU with IOCL. In addition to its MoU with IOCL, OIL has entered into cer tain other MoUs, with various companies in the upstream and downstream sectors in order to pursue exploration and production oppor tunities both in India and overseas. I am happy to mention that Russian assets have become now cash positive and company is receiving dividends. In November 2004, OIL entered into a participation agreement with OVL to form a joint venture where OIL holds a 10.00 per cent interest and OVL holds a 90.00 per cent interest for the construction of a product pipeline in Sudan under a contract from the Sudanese government. This coupled with the advancement in subsea processing and compression technology is driving fast-track technology development in various SPS building b l o c k s. S u b s e a co nt ro l s y s te m s, o n e o f t h e m o s t i m p o r t a nt S P S building blocks, are not isolated from this wave of change. The focus of the latest developments in this area is to enable: (1) installation of more instrumentation to monitor the condition of the system,

(2) higher elec trical power to power the equipment at the sea bed, and (3) increase of data transmission capacit y and speed. These will b e s u p p o r te d by d i gi t a l i z at i o n , w h i c h d ri ve s i nte grat i o n o f d at a , h a rd wa re, d i s c i p l i n e s, va l u e c h a i n s, i n d u s t r i e s, b u s i n e s s m o d e l s and people. FEATURES electric system will enable cost savings for both topsides and umbilicals. It will also create opportunities for further cost reduction and a more flexible SPS in comparison with conventional electrohydraulic systems. Key drivers for exploring electrification of subsea production system include: Reduced Cost - Simplified umbilicals, reduction in subsea hardware and equipment required on the topside Lower Operating Expenses - Better predictive maintenance, hydraulic fluid is not required Reduced Environmental Impact - No release of hydraulic fluid to the sea, no high pressure equipment required on the topside Enabling digitalization - Ability to monitor functionality and conditions Higher Flexibility - Easy tie -backs, plug and play integration of control systems configuration and logic programmed for the plant. This provides the ability to test control strategies and identify potential design flaws that may lead to downtime and production loss.

3. Faster Subsea Communication: The links to topsides from a subsea installation can be communication bottlenecks when utilizing dedicated shielded twisted pairs or coaxial

Increased Safety: It provides the ability to test both safety and process interlocks. This reduces the risk before commissioning by allowing users to gain familiarity and build process and operational competencies before deploying to offshore locations.

Capture Knowledge for the Future: As the knowledge base utilized for the simulation grows, the skillsets of the operators using it can be extended accordingly. 2. All Electric Systems: The high cost of deep water installations has increased the reliability demands of subsea control systems. Fields in deep water or requiring a long step-out severely limit the practicality of electro-hydraulic control systems. As a result, the subsea industr y has been working on the development of an allelectric control system for many years. Electrical control of subsea valves is of growing importance in advanced boosting or separation systems. Electrical actuators are already used to operate subsea valves for controlling process fluid. FEATURES Resistance to Electromagnetic Interference: Fiber has a very low rate of bit error, as a result of fiber being so resistant to elec tromagnetic inter ference. Fiber optic transmission is virtually noise free. Easy to Accommodate Increasing Subsea Equipment: With the use of fiber optic cable, new equipment can be added to the existing cable infrastructure.

(CPS). Typically with this setup, data transmission rates have been low and transmission per formance is becoming insufficient to cater to the ever-increasing demand for subsea data. A high bandwidth communication link is now a critical enabler for the continued d e ve l o p m e nt o f s u b s e a co nt ro l s. 4. Condition Monitoring and Use of Data: Condition monitoring (CM) is the process of monitoring the parameters of machinery condition in order to identify significant changes indicative of a developing fault. There are three main approaches to maintenance - reactive, periodic, and predictive. Predictive maintenance is preferred for high value equipment as this uses the actual condition of an asset to determine the potential for failure. CM is a major component of predictive maintenance. The ability to detect damage at an early stage can reduce the costs and down-time associated with repair of critical damage. The use of condition monitoring allows maintenance to be scheduled or other actions to be taken to prevent damage and avoid its consequences. Condition monitoring has a unique benefit in that conditions that would shorten the normal lifespan of a piece of equipment can be addressed before they develop into a major failure. FEATURES Conclusion: Fa s te r i m p l e m e nt at i o n o f n e x t - g e n e rat i o n s u b s e a co nt ro l s systems will certainly benefit the customer as well as the industry overall. Training simulators will enhance operator efficiency by giving them the training required them to make correct decisions. All-electric systems will create oppor tunities for cost reduction and a more flexible SPS in comparison with conventional electrohydraulic systems. Fiber optic communication provides the high bandwidth required to cater to the increased demand of subsea data. Condition monitoring systems lead to optimization of systems and production.

Allows management of failure: Identification of a failure does not necessarily mean that immediate maintenance action is needed. CM can be used to plan maintenance action.

It may be concluded that high per formance control systems enabled by advanced technology ensure a prolonged life of field, reduced capital and operating expenditure, increased produc tivit y, reliabilit y and safet y.

Evaluates corrective action: Immediately after a system has been repaired it should be subject to condition monitoring testing. This will potentially identify assembly or installation faults that may lead to early failure. Use for performance optimization: CM enables the understanding of bottlenecks or backlogs in the production stream which can assist in optimization of the assets involved.

5. Subsea Internet of Things (SIoT ): The term SIoT is inherited from the term Internet of Things (IoT). SIoT is a network of smart sensors and smart devices used to provide operational intelligence such as performance, condition and diagnostic information. Unlike IoT, SIoT focuses on subsea communication through the water and the water-air boundary. SIoT systems are based on smart, wireless devices incorporating radio and hybrid technologies. SIoT systems incorporate standard sensors including temperature, pressure, flow, vibration, corrosion and video. Processed information is shared between nearby wireless sensor nodes. SIoT systems can be used for environmental monitoring, oil and gas production control and optimization and subsea asset integrity management. There is also a recent increase of interest in the integration of IoT and cloud computing. Subsea cloud computing provides an efficient means for SIoT systems to manage large data sets. It is an adaption of cloud computing frameworks to meet the needs of the underwater environment. www.oswindia.com

The Market Outlook for Light NGL Feedstocks

thylene and propylene monomers ser ve as the basic building block for the world’s highest volume plastics. The over whelming majorit y of ethylene is produced in steam crackers that use

naphtha or ethane as their feedstock . Propylene has traditionally mostly been byproduced from steam crackers and refiner y fluidized catalytic crackers (FCCs), but propylene is increasingly being produced “on purpose” via propane dehydrogenation (PDH) and metathesis. Commercial production of NGLs (ethane, propane, butanes and natural gasoline) nearly all comes as a byproduc t of natural gas processing and crude oil refining. Global 2018 produc tion of NGLs is expec ted to be around 460 million metric tons.

second largest application for LPG is for petrochemical feedstocks. Petrochemical applications that cannot substitute any feedstocks for NGLs are considered base chemical applications; examples include the produc tion of maleic anhydride and propane dehydrogenation. I n co nt ra s t, t h e re a re f e e d s to c k f l ex i b l e s te a m c ra c ke r s i n w h i c h LPG can substitute as a feed for naphtha or ethane. These substitute feedstock applications are price sensitive and ser ve as the market clearing mechanism for LPG. Residential / commercial applications are considered premium demand because consumers will generally pay a premium for LPG over the price sensitive demand from petrochemical consumers.

Market Clearing Mechanisms Ethane is produced as a specification product primarily to ser ve as a feedstock for steam crackers. The small remainder of produced ethane is used as fuel, and is often produced only to avoid exceeding the BTU specification in the sales gas. A large amount of ethane is left in natural gas around the world – the de facto market clearing mechanism for ethane.

Impac t of US Shale Development on NGLs D evelopment of US shales for the produc tion of crude oil and natural gas has resulted in large increases in ethane and propane production, although produc tion of all US NGLs has risen. The only NGL with a significant demand component driving produc tion is ethane, since ethane that is not recovered for petrochemical use at gas processing plants (a.k.a “rejec ted ethane”) is left in the natural gas stream.

By 2 0 1 1 f l ex i b l e e t h a n e capacit y was nearly maximized, forcing surplus ethane into rejec tion and creating oppor tunities to look for alternative uses of ethane. In 2013 pipeline shipments of ethane to Canada began. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs pondered expor ting waterborne ethane for fuel and petrochemicals, and petrochemical companies were planning a first wave of new ethane -based ethylene crackers. US Ethane Expor ts Three ethane pipelines to Canada are in operation. With increasing availabilit y of ethane from Canadian shale plays, it seems unlikely that more pipeline capacit y from the US will be needed. Most of the ethane from these terminals is moving to Nor thwest Europe and to India, with smaller amounts sent to Brazil and Mexico. The Sunoco terminal is currently constrained by the capacit y of the ~70,000 b/d Mariner East 1 pipeline, which has been shipping both propane and ethane from the Marcellus / Utica plays and dealing with a temporar y pipeline shutdown. 2018 ethane expor ts through July have only averaged about 20,000 b/d. Some capacit y is still available at the Enterprise terminal, but could potentially be filled by the GAIL cracker projec t in India if it proceeds as announced. There has been great interest in ethane expor ts to China. The SP Chemical cracker in China should begin impor ting ethane by 2019 –

Since existing ethane terminal capacit y is largely committed, incremental projec ts will require additional infrastruc ture: expor t terminals, ethane carrier ships and impor t terminals. Two new ethane expor t terminals have been announced for the US Gulf Coast, but neither project has yet made obvious physical progress on any of the required infrastruc ture. American Ethane has several announced offtake par tners in China for their projec t; if it proceeds it will likely be much delayed from the announced 2020 star tups. The Energy Transfer Par tners / Zhejiang Satellite Orbit project (announced star tup 4Q 2020) has the benefit of a par tner with ethane expor t terminal experience. Of these sources, only the China/ India LPG growth is sourced from refineries, and these countries are net impor ters. Russia hopes to use incremental supply as domestic petrochemical feedstock, so expor ts may not grow. Thus, incremental waterborne LPG supply will come mainly from the US and the Middle East. Asia is the only region in the world with rapid volumetric demand growth (Fig 3), and most of this growth comes from the residential / commercial market and from petrochemical feedstock demand. LPG demand in the US is flat. Propane is losing to ethane in the petrochemicals market and to natural gas in the residential / commercial market. Butane demand is mostly saturated in the refineries. The European market is mostly mature: recent demand increases have come from LPG substitution of naphtha in olefins crackers, but this market is unlikely to grow. European residential / commercial markets are mostly declining. Middle East market growth is mostly from petrochemical feedstock applications, but from a small base. Latin American demand growth is modest and is mostly from residential / commercial demand. African residential / commercial demand is growth is rapid on a percentage basis, but the overall volume is relatively small, as affordability and infrastructure remain major issues. Residential / commercial demand is growing in Asia much more quickly

FEATURES than in other regions. Asia has an enormous population that is growing rapidly and is becoming increasingly wealthy. LPG availability from the US and the Middle East has improved. Perhaps the largest impac t has come from governments’ willingness to suppor t LPG demand growth. For example, India and Indonesia have introduced subsidy programs to increase LPG demand for residential applications, and these countries have the second and four th largest populations in the world. Other highly populated countries such as Bangladesh and Myanmar don’t have subsidy programs, but they do have relatively new legislation that allows LPG markets to grow with less government inter vention. Fo r p ro p a n e, t h e g l o b a l g ro w t h i n re s i d e nt i a l / co m m e rc i a l a n d o t h e r p re m i u m d e m a n d i s n o t s u f f i c i e nt to ke e p u p w i t h ra p i d ly increasing supplies, largely because the US LPG expor ts are mostly propane. Consequently, large amounts of propane are lef t for the p e t ro c h e m i c a l m a r ke t s t o c l e a r. S u r p l u s p ro p a n e , c o u p l e d w i t h strong demand for propylene, makes the new PDH units in China and elsewhere economical. However, much of the incremental residential / commercial demand in South Asia has a high frac tion of butane, thereby leaving much less butane for the chemicals markets to clear. Indeed, over the past few years during periods of high demand there

have been tight butane markets that have resulted in high butane prices relative to propane. Conclusion U S s h a l e d e ve l o p m e nt i s l i ke ly to co nt i n u e to a cce l e rate at l e a s t through the mid-2020s, resulting in a continuing increase in the availabilit y of ethane and LPG around the world. The waterborne ethane expor t industr y is in its nascent stages, and the ex tent to which China impor ts US ethane will have an impac t on the pricing of US ethane. US LPG expor ts will also continue to increase, with propane continuing to have a large global surplus, while butane could face seasonal tightness.

hemical process industry commonly uses PTFE lined piping however non-availability of large bore diameter seamless liners chemical industry and processor go for other alternative like Glass lining, PVDF / PFA melt process / PTFE sheet welded or exotic metals like titanium / tantalum /Hastelloy etc, Glass lining- being fragile and can break due to mechanical shocks come under maintenance quickly, with temperature and chemical applications limits it cannot be used widely, PTFE sheet welding / fusion with PFA rod can qualify testing of strength sometime however its weld joint, even at single drop leakage not allowing same to run for longer life, PVDF / PFA lining have introduced due to its little better weldable properties than PTFE sheets, It was industry needs to get developed seamless paste extruded PTFE liners in large bore diameter for column, tank and vessels with maximum lengths to avoid flange joints as source of leakage, theses columns, tanks and vessels can be used under full vacuum application with different technology like as heavy-duty thickness liners of 10 – 12 mm or mechanically extracted nozzles which holds liner from getting it buckle or inserting graphite / ceramic sleeve inside, Construction: - seamless PTFE lined column is with single piece without any weld joint of liners, lining of shell is done as normal lined piping with flare at both ends, nozzles are mechanically extracted having uniform thickness all over neck and flare areas, single piece construction of nozzles helps for zero leakage chances, Specification: Steel Housing: - A106 Gr.B Sch.40/A516 Gr.60/70 / IS2062,

Shell adds new, deep-water production in Brazil New, deep-water production is underway today at Lula Extreme South in the Brazilian Santos Basin. Royal Dutch Shell plc, through its subsidiary Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda. (Shell) and consortium partners, announces that the FPSO P-69 is now producing. Operated by Petrobras, P-69 is a standardized vessel that can process up to 150,000 barrels of oil and 6 million cubic meters of natural gas daily. It will ramp up production through eight producing and seven injection wells. “The Brazilian pre-salt fields are some of the best deep-water provinces in the world,” said Andy Brown, Upstream Director for Shell. “With significant flow rates, deep-water Brazil projects are breaking even under $40 per barrel. We commend Petrobras on this production milestone, and we look forward to progressing additional development plans with our consortium partners as well as for our recently-acquired, deep-water Brazil blocks.” Following Lula Extreme South, the next FPSO is P-67 for Lula North. The Libra product sharing agreement continues to progress with an extended well test as well as the Mero 1 FPSO, and additional FPSOs are planned. Shell also has development drilling planned for its operated, Gato do Mato South field in 2019. Shell has a 25 percent stake in the Lula consortium, operated by Petrobras (65 percent). Galp, through its subsidiary Petrogal Brasil, holds the remaining 10 percent interest.

New Premium Oil Filtration System for Power End Lubrication The leading cause of premature power end failure is contamination of the lubrication oil. To address this issue Caterpillar has released a premium Oil Filtration system for the Power End Lubrication as an installed standard attachment. The Cat® Well Stimulation Pump Power End Lube Oil Filtration allows oil to be cleaned with the specifications that Caterpillar recommends. By integrating industry leading filters from the TH55 transmission into the power end filtration system, Caterpillar provides world class filtration to power ends, as well as parts commonality with the transmission of choice for well stimulation customers. The oil filtration system is available on every Power End Only, Complete Pump, and Configurable Pump horsepower. One benefit of the system is simplified maintenance, as it is capable of being mounted on the power end itself, allowing for rapid filter changes. Meticulously designed, the filtration system provides its greatest benefit of limiting contamination downstream. Now, there is less chance of debris being introduced from intermediate components. www.oswindia.com

Another convenience of the system is the ability to use the same tools for transmission filter changes. Two additional features of the system include an integrated bypass sensor and sampling ports both upstream and downstream of the filter to allow for a consistent oil sampling process. In conjunction with a Scheduled Oil Sampling (SOS) program, this allows extended oil change intervals while ensuring satisfactory oil cleanliness. The oil filtration system is fully integrated with the Pump Electronic Monitoring System (PEMS), which provides oil pressure, oil temperature, and filter differential pressure data via J1939 standard. Available now, the new system is compatible with and recommended for retrofit of already shipped Cat power ends.

In a move to continue strengthening their logistical operations, World Fuel Services (WFS) has welcomed a new supply vessel to its offering. The 75m LOA, 3100 DWT product tanker, Whitstar, was deployed in early September 2018 to operate along the east and south coast with the task of servicing UK terminals. Owned by Whitaker Tankers, Whitstar was built in 2004 and is fitted with versatile deep well pumps capable of delivering fuel in volumes of up to 450 m 3 /hr. The vessel also hosts epoxy coated cargo tanks, closed loading and has tank level radars fitted and its hull is also strengthened to enable access to NAABSA berths. This latest addition to the WFS-operated tanker fleet is large enough to keep storage terminals topped up but small enough to deliver bunkers to vessels. In chartering this vessel, greater control of the supply chain has been achieved with enhanced flexibility and versatility that enables WFS to provide fuel solutions together with operational excellence.

DEEPA™ Boosts Oil Production from Mature Vertical Wells by up to 250% – Cleansorb, a leading provider of chemical well treatments that enhance hydrocarbon production for the international oil and gas industry, today announced that it dramatically increased oil production by up to 250% from mature vertical wells in Canada by treating them with a DEEPA™ formulation that increases the matrix permeability of the rock and simultaneously remediates nearby wellbore damage. Initially, Cleansorb developed DEEPA™ in-situ acidizing for deep matrix acidizing treatments and to stimulate production from natural fractures in carbonate formations. This was followed by ORCA™ for WBM, to remove drilling damage from water-based drill-in fluids in openhole wells, particularly in long horizontal wells, and ORCA for OBM to remove drilling damage from oil-based drill-in fluids in open hole wells. Founded in 1994, Cleansorb supports customers around the world from its global headquarters in Guildford, England. These mature vertical wells, which have been producing for nearly 40 years, are located in the carbonate Swan Hills Formation in Canada, and had a slight tendency to accumulate scale near the wellbore. “To address this issue and enhance production, the customer wanted to investigate novel approaches to treat their assets, so opted to treat them with DEEPA, which we developed to dissolve scale and enhance matrix permeability of the rock,” said Ian McKay, Director & Co-founder of Cleansorb. Production soars DEEPA, which delivers organic acid deep into the rock matrix via in-situ acid generation, increases permeability uniformly around the wellbore. To treat the Swan Hills Formation wells Cleansorb, and its local partner, formulated a custom DEEPA treatment suitable for a bottom hole static temperature of 90–110°C (194–230°F), which was then administered. Following a brief 24-hour shut-in period to allow the treatment to dissolve the scale and penetrate the rock, production in each well rose by 200–250%, and remained at that level. This result exceeded the customer’s expectations. “The proof lies in that extraordinary production improvement of 250%,” said the Vice President of Operations & Technology for the operating company. “DEEPA doesn’t let us down.” Since the initial wells were treated in the carbonate Swan Hills Formation, similar results were achieved when applied to mature wells located in sandstone formations containing 5–10% carbonate. Over time, approximately 30 mature wells in Canada have been successfully treated with DEEPA. “Because every well is different, every well will respond differently. That said, doubling production following treatment with DEEPA is not out of the ordinary,” said Ian McKay. “In this case, there was a very slight scaling tendency, so the wells had accumulated scale throughout their 40-year producing life, which was then cleared with DEEPA. Similar production improvement is certainly achievable on other mature fields with long-term scaling issues, once treated with DEEPA. It’s a very simple, straightforward way to revitalize production, effectively extending the life of a field that might have otherwise been slated for decommissioning.”

Opportunity for Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Program Government of India has decided to keep the nation ahead in the quest for securing its vital crude oil buffer inventory by seeking to almost double the capacity of its underground storage caverns through the ambitious Phase-II programme which seeks Public Private Partnership in India’s emerging Hydrocarbon Sector. Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd. (ISPRL), a SPV created for the purpose of building the SPRs has successfully completed and commissioned the Phase I SPRs program. The Union Cabinet has now accorded in principle approval for the Phase-II SPR program which entails creation of additional storage facilities of 6.5 MMT of crude oil to be stored in underground rock caverns at Chandikhol in Odisha and Padur in Karnataka with an envisaged investment outlay of `11,000 Crores (US$ 1.6 Billion). The investment model seeks partnership through DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) and offers prospective concessionaire the rights on the crude oil inventory as per an agreed term where the Government of India will have the first right of refusal on the inventory in times of exigencies. As a key takeaway the Concessionaire will have access to the large Indian refining market and multiple other revenue streams. Government of India’s one of the key initiative towards energy security of the country - the strategic petroleum reserves program, envisions creation of additional crude oil reserves facilities in Private Public Partnership (PPP) mode and the road show for the same was launched here today by Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas ( MoP&NG) and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SDE). Speaking on the occasion, Shri Pradhan said that on world energy landscape, India is the 3rd largest consumer of energy and also the 3rd largest importer of crude oil in the world. With Indian economy growing rapidly, energy demand is forecasted to grow more than any other country in the world in the next two decades. India has a very large requirement of petroleum fuels. Demand for petroleum products has been increasing at a CAGR of 5.5% from 2013 to 2017. He said that our domestic production will be unable to meet our ever increasing domestic demand of petroleum fuels and petrochemicals and India will continue to depend on imports for foreseeable future. The Minister said that in last one year, we have also faced severe headwinds by way of rising oil prices. Since October 2017, crude prices have gone up 50% in US Dollar terms and 70% in Indian Rupee terms. Much of it is to do with geo-political events imposed on the World. We have to mitigate the impact and use the challenge as an opportunity. One of the mitigation measure is to create enough strategic reserve within the country to store adequate crude physically within the country. This will not only help in avoiding disruption in case of supply side disruptions, it will also help in reducing price volatility. Mr. Pradhan said that with the objective to meet the energy security, Government of India formed Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL), a SPV under Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. To further improve strategic reserve, the union cabinet granted approval for establishing additional 6.5 MMT of strategic www.oswindia.com

petroleum reserve which will be able to provide extra 12 days of supply. After a detailed study considering technical and commercial factors, two locations Chandikhol in Odisha and Padur in Karnataka have been selected as the optimum location for these SPRs. These two SPRs will add strategic petroleum reserves of 12 days in addition to 10 days of reserves achieved in Phase I. Indian refiners maintain 65 days of crude storage, and when added to the storage planned and achieved by ISPRL, takes the Indian crude storage tally to 87 days. This is very close to the storage of 90 days mandated by IEA for member countries. On the issue of Phase-II, he said that these are large investments requiring more than 1.5 billion US dollars of capital, and the Government plans to develop this under PPP framework. The Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dr. M.M. Kutty and senior officers of the Ministry, Oil companies, ISPRL, stakeholders were present on the occasion.

Contracts signed under OALP Bid Round-I Government of India has signed the contracts of the blocks awarded under the Open Acreage Licensing Programme (OALP) Bid Round - Iwith the awardees at New Delhi. Initially, 110 e-bids were received for 55 blocks on offer with participation from 9 companies, singly or in consortium. Finally, contracts have been signed for all 55 blocks with 6 companies. The details of the contract areas signed is placed at Annexure 1. This will add a huge accretion of 59,282 sq.km to the exploration area. This is about 65% of the area presently under exploration in the country. This will lead to significant increase in E&P activities in India and in long run discoveries from these field may significantly boost domestic production. The bid round-I of OALP was launched in January 2018 under the liberalized Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy (HELP). It is for the first time that bidding in the E&P sector in India was for blocks that had been selected by bidders themselves with government playing a facilitator role. The OALP bid round-I has received overwhelming enthusiasm from various stakeholders of E&P industry, with all 55 blocks on offer receiving bids and being awarded. Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated the awardees and assured them of complete support and assistance from the Government. He reiterated the relentless efforts of the government to enhance domestic hydrocarbon production by putting forth new policy initiatives and new offers so that the true potential of Indian sedimentary basins is realized. The Minister said that the Companies have committed investment of about ` 6000 Crore for exploring under this round. He said there is huge potential in these reserves and their exploration will positively impact the Indian economy. He said that the Government is working in a transparent manner, and policies are being made, after extensive consultation with all stakeholders. Shri Pradhan said that Minimum Government-Maximum Governance is not only a slogan for us, but a guiding principle. He said that India has already become third largest energy consumer in the world and the Government is committed to provide affordable energy to its citizens, and for this purpose, several initiatives have been taken to enhance the production of hydrocarbons.

One of the prime examples would be the DWK and the DPK pumps. Grundfos DWK and DPK are submersible pumps designed for dewatering and drainage applications. The cast-iron construction and the hydraulic design contribute durability and high-efficiency. The differences between the DWK and DPK pump ranges lie in the discharge arrangement and the installation type. The DWK range of submersible pumps combines durable performance with ease of installation. With a solid cast iron construction and narrow design this pump range is ideal for pits, temporary or fixed installation, or in situations where effective dewatering is needed. In cases where there is a presence of abrasives like sand or where power supply is limited, the DWK pumps prove to be ideal. DPK pump variant comes with a long-life motor, which helps in bringing down the maintenance costs; circuit operates independently and is responsible for providing the necessary protection against overheating of the motor; SS, high-chrome impeller helps ensure an increased lifetime. Condition Monitoring & Predictive Maintenance NORD DRIVESYSTEMS uses condition monitoring and predictive maintenance to achieve max plant availability and high cost-efficiency. While condition monitoring only enables the state of wear to be detected, predictive maintenance can ideally enable a maintenance date to be planned well in advance. This requires intelligent frequency inverters with integrated PLCs, which can take autonomous decisions and evaluate motor and gear unit status data from virtual and physical sensors. With the aid of virtual sensors based on mathematical algorithms and the PLC which is integrated into the NORD frequency inverter, in combination with the known physical characteristics of the gear oil, the lifespan of the oil can be determined with sufficient accuracy from the calculated drive output which is determined from the measured electrical data. This allows an assessment of the degree of use of the gear oil and the predicted date for the oil change. For industrial gear units, physical temperature and vibration sensors are both economical and advisable. Especially vibration sensors offer a range of advantages. Detailed manufacturers' databases exist for all of the bearings which are installed in industrial gear units. These databases contain the characteristic vibration frequencies for all components of each bearing type. The individual frequencies can therefore be clearly identified and attributed to particular components. The frequency spectrum can be analysed on the basis of the time signal or an FFT analysis (Fast Fourier-Transform). This not only enables the ideal or necessary maintenance time to be calculated, it also indicates the location of the fault and which replacement parts are required. The autonomous drive communicates its status data to a secure cloud. There, this data is available for analysis with filter and analysis tools, so that monitoring of the drive units can be carried out from anywhere in the world. The data are transparently presented in a browser-based web interface and the plant can be viewed at a glance in a clear 3D illustration. Pump Impeller The KSB Group offers a special impeller for its Movitec multi-stage high-pressure pumps. This new impeller significantly improves these pumps’ suction characteristics (NPSH value). It proves its worth particularly in applications with critical inlet conditions (eg, boiler-feed applications) as well as applications in which the pump is required to take in water from low-lying tanks or at higher temperatures. Under these conditions, a pressure drop in the intake area may cause cavitation to occur in the first pump stage. This can result in excessive wear of pump parts or motor bearings as well as a reduced service life of the pump due to damaged parts and an unbalanced hydraulic system. The new impeller features a modified inlet dia, vanes allowing a slightly diagonal throughflow and a newly designed stage casing, all of which serve to substantially improve the pump’s NPSH curve. The multi-stage centrifugal pumps from the Movitec range are designed for handling fluids such as water, coolants, condensate and mineral oils. They are ideal for a wide variety of applications ranging from industrial boiler feed installations in steam circuits, recirculation and fire-fighting systems, cooling water circuits and washing plants to pressure boosting in general process applications. BOOKSHELF

Stratification, Rollover and Handling of LNG, LPG and Other Cryogenic Liquid Mixtures

Author: Ralph G Scurlock Price: $69.87 No of pages: 134 pages (Paperback) Publisher: Springer (1st Edition) About the book: This short, practical book offers advice on the safe storage, handling and transportation of liquid natural gas (LNG), liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and other cryogenic fluid mixtures. It begins with a review of the physical properties of LNG and LPG, and a brief overview of basic handling and storage methods. The chapters that follow address more in-depth topics such as heat flows in LNG and LPG storage systems, insulation techniques and surface evaporation phenomena. Two chapters are then devoted to the specific sequence of problems caused by stratification and rollover, and the techniques used to manage and alleviate these issues. The book then considers the use of vacuum insulated tanks for the storage of pressurised LNG, and the effective transfer of liquids avoiding 2-phase flow. It concludes with a summary of safe storage and handling protocols, and addresses the specific health issues encountered when dealing with cryogenic liquid mixtures. Throughout the book the author presents real-life case studies to illustrate the situation being discussed. Written in a practical style, it will prove an invaluable companion to anyone working with LNG, LPG or other cryogenic liquid mixtures.

Catalytic Control of Hydrocarbon Emission from LPG Fuelled Vehicles

Authors: Suverna Trivedi, Ram Prasad and Sony Chaddha Price: $59.00 No of pages: 140 pages (Paperback) Publisher: LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing About the book: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) - a petrol substitute for automobiles is ever more increasing due to its clean combustion, higher octane rating and considerably lower CO, HC, CO 2 and particulate matter emissions compared to gasoline. The major drawback associated with them is the emission of unburned hydrocarbon along with other pollutants such as NOx and CO. Apart from the health problems, HCs also causes tangible environmental damage like the formation of photochemical smog, depletion of stratospheric ozone and the production of ground-level ozone. As the regulation on LPG engines emissions are becoming more stringent, engine modification and exhaust treatment are needed for improved emission control systems. The catalytic oxidation is one of the most effective method to reduce emission of HCs from LPG vehicles. Spinel oxides have been extensively investigated as a potential substitute for costly noble metal based catalysts. Thus, the objective of the present work is to develop an efficient catalyst for the combustion of HCs within the temperature window of vehicles exhaust.
