HEARING SOLUTIONS

Oticon Alta Premium & Personal To The Core Audiograms can be similar. Ears can be similar. But there is so much more that affects what we perceive. Everyone’s perception of sound is unique. And every hearing solution should be “personalized” or shaped to the contours of a person’s life and their listening preferences. That’s why we created new Oticon Alta. Alta is our newest premium technology hearing instrument. It combines the best premium hearing technology we’ve ever built with a revolutionary new fitting approach that delivers our most exclusively personalized solution ever.

INIUM WIRELESS

The new Inium platform delivers the unique combination of exceptional performance, small size and low power consumption.

•N EW Speech Guard E delivers a clearer and more detailed speech signal that keeps voices distinct from each other and separates them more clearly from competing background sounds. By providing clear and stable gain with less signal manipulation, Speech Guard E gives users what they need to hear better in difficult listening situations. • NEW Spatial Sound Premium uses Inium’s high bandwidth, smooth frequency response and real-time binaural processing speed to preserve the sound signal’s natural characteristics so users can better prioritize where they focus in environments with competing sounds. • NEW Inium feedback shield prevents and suppresses feedback while optimizing and ensuring audibility even in difficult listening situations - all without distortions or artifacts common in other feedback systems. Unlike other anti-feedback systems that reduce gain and compromise audibility, Inium feedback shield removes feedback with an intelligent balance of frequency shifting and phase inversion while maintaining full and appropriate high frequency gain.

HEARING SOLUTIONS

The new Inium wireless signal processing platform is at the core of Alta and delivers exceptional performance, small size and ultralow power consumption with a new generation of exclusive Oticon features:

can provide real-time adjustment of Alta’s response times, focus mode, noise management settings, transient management and compression changes to give your patients a highly personalized listening experience. A hearing instrument as personalized as Alta should come with our best custom program for better fit, quality and flexible ordering. Inium’s small, flexible components give you freedom to configure features to meet your patient’s needs. Inium features three receiver choices, three battery size options, and even battery drawer orientation options to optimize discreetness, comfort and performance. Visit pro.oticonusa.com to learn more about Oticon Alta.

•N EW YouMatic enables you to factor more personal dimensions into the hearing instrument’s reactions and responses and address each patient’s unique perception and enjoyment of sound. From the first fitting session, YouMatic gives patients a way to proactively convey what they’re hearing, what they’re not hearing and what they’d rather not hear. Unlocking the Power of Personalization Maximizing user satisfaction is an important goal of any fitting. A satisfied client not only hears better, but also enjoys listening. People have preferences about how they like things to sound. How do we ensure that these preferences are met? An excellent way to find out how a person prefers to listen is to ask them. But until now, there was no structured way to engage the patient in this decision. Alta and the all new quad core Inium signal processing platform bring a new processing power and fitting flexibility that help you unlock the power of personalization through an all-new approach. The Alta Personalization Process lets you involve your patient at every stage of the fitting and integrate their sound quality preferences in a new way. There are three steps to the Alta Personalization Process.

Initial Fitting begins with setting the Personal Profile, based on the audiogram and other details such as age and previous experience with amplification. The Preference Manager in Genie lets you engage your patient in comparing several personalization sound samples to answer four key questions. Active Listening happens when your patient leaves your office and continues in their daily lives. The Alta Diary supports this activity, helping patients collect information and focus their attention on situations that are important to them. The Alta Diary is available in a paper version and in a smartphone App for iPhone/iPad or Android. Optimizing the fitting brings all of this information together. During a follow-up consultation, the patient’s comments and information from the Alta Diary help you get an impression of their progress. Finally, you engage your client in a structured listening experience using sound samples in the YouMatic Manager in Genie.

Since 2007, Oticon has been “thinking pink” for a very worthy cause – breast cancer awareness and research. Each year, during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Oticon donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of special edition Think Pink hearing devices to the National Breast Cancer Coalition. Our annual Pink with a Purpose campaign resonates with hearing care professionals and patients alike, giving people with hearing loss the opportunity to choose the performance they need and the modern design they want and, at the same time, support a deserving cause. Here at Oticon, we put our own passion where the pink is - participating as a group in one of the country’s largest American Cancer Society fundraising walks in New York City’s Central Park. 

EMPOWERING PEOPLE

Oticon Donation Helps Service Men & Women Phone Home This holiday season, Oticon saw a unique opportunity to recognize and show our appreciation for the life-changing communication made possible by our hearing care partners each and every day of the year. Through a $15,000 donation to the USO Operation Phone Home™ program, we aimed to create the opportunity for US service men and women serving overseas to make meaningful connections with their loved ones at home. The donation provides prepaid international phone cards – the USO’s most requested item – free of charge to deployed troops stationed in locations around the world. Brian Whiting, CEO of USO Metropolitan New York, recently traveled to Somerset to accept the $15,000 check on behalf of the national USO organization. “Oticon’s donation will create thousands of opportunities for US service men and women to say ‘good night’ to a child, ‘I love you’ to a spouse, or ‘I miss you” to a parent,” said Whiting. “Through pre-paid phone cards that are distributed at USO Centers overseas and our private phone network in Southwest Asia, Oticon’s support will

provide military families with up to 300,000 minutes of talk time.” Joining President Peer Lauritsen, Cathy Van Evra, Government Services Manager and Mary Porath, Channel Manager, Marketing for the presentation were two of Oticon’s own service veterans, Robert Walker and Ruben Carpio. Robert and Ruben can attest personally to how important the chance to phone home can be for service men and women stationed thousands of miles from home. The two US Marine Corps veterans each spent 4 years away from family and friends while serving at bases in the US and overseas. 

The Alta Launch in New Orleans Choosing a site to introduce a “game changer” solution that is setting new standards in performance and client satisfaction was a Big Easy . . . One week before Super Bowl XLVII, more than 1000 hearing care professionals from across the US gathered in New Orleans for the introduction of new premium technology Oticon Alta. “Make It Personal”- Oticon’s most comprehensive launch event ever- gave participants the opportunity to discover how the power of personalization can transform their clients' experiences and their practice. An impressive line-up of expert presentations, handson workshops and an “Alta Village” exhibition allowed participants to get up close and personal with Alta’s performance improvements and the resulting benefits for client and practitioner.

Nancy Palmere, Senior Marketing Manager

A central message throughout the gathering was the integral role of the hearing care professional in the Alta Personalization Process. “The interaction between hearing care professional and client is central to unlocking Alta’s power of personalization,” Oticon President Peer Lauritsen told participants.

Curtis Alcott, Keynote Speaker

A specially designed “Event App” helped participants optimize access to a wide range of information and workshop sessions, post questions to presenters and share personal impressions and insights using smart phones and iPads. The 8800-squarefoot exhibit provided a personalized view of our comprehensive portfolio of advanced technology hearing solutions and business support. The central theme was the new world of personalized hearing care, shaped to life- starting with the new Oticon Alta premium technology hearing solution. Conference participants had an opportunity to experience Alta’s premium hearing technology, all new Inium platform and innovative fitting tools. They also got “up close and personal” with the newly-updated ConnectLine system and more versatile Streamer Pro. A custom product modeling demonstration provided an overview of new possibilities for achieving a more personalized fit with improved flexibility, comfort and listening performance.

Also spotlighted were Oticon’s new personalized business support materials that enable practitioners to “customize” their marketing campaigns to their unique marketing approach and practice persona. An Oticon Pediatrics “classroom” featured an interactive Smart board and the Oticon Student Lounge hosted a special “Oticon Summer Camp Reunion.” The Student Lounge also proved to be a great gathering place for young professionals to network and learn about exciting Oticon-supported student programs. Our exhibit was also the place to salute the American Academy of Audiology on its 25th Anniversary. Throughout the conference, we invited participants to post their personal wishes for the future of audiology on an oversized anniversary candle display. For each anniversary wish posted, Oticon donated $1 to fund costs for audiologists to join 2013 Project Amazon, a humanitarian mission to the Oticon Clinic in Parintins, Brazil.

The increased signal-to-noise level improves speech intelligibility for language development and learning. Unlike overly complex FM devices, Amigo Star is plug-and-play FM solution that is quick to set-up. Teachers can instantly see that the system is on and the FM signal is being received.

The child-friendly receiver features built-in volume control with a programmable lock and LED visual status indicator. A simple push of the channel seek button allows easy channel synchronization with the transmitter. Finding an FM device that young children and teens will tolerate wearing throughout the day can be challenging. Discreet, cool, and stylish, Amigo Star can be easily customized to fit each child’s ear snugly and comfortably. For teachers, the Amigo FM system makes addressing the entire class easier. They can move about the classroom and feel confident that they are clearly understood by students with comprehension challenges. How does Amigo Star stand up to the wear and tear of everyday use? The robustly designed Amigo Star FM receiver is water resistant with IP57 certification and withstands repeated accidental drops. The Corda2 thin tubes and domes are easy and inexpensive to replace. Amigo Star’s A+ performance allows students to focus their energies on what matters most during the school day- learning! Visit pro.oticonusa.com to learn more about the new Oticon Amigo.
