Ginza Dark Museum of Art without plan

I propose to construct Dark Museum with the space divided with shades by using those unique urban shades as axis to make the whole blocks in Ginza as a piece of architecture. This is one of sustainable urban projects to maintain this unique structure of blocks in Ginza during the city to be kept being upgraded. 都市の陰の軸を用いて街区を一つの建築として再生させ、陰によって空間が分けられ た美術館を提案する。 都市更新していく中で、ダークミュージアムは銀座特有の街区構造を維持し続けるサ ステイナブル・アーバンプロジェクトである。

I propose to construct Dark Museum with the space divided with shades by using Urban Shade as axis to make the whole blocks in Ginza as a piece of architecture. Dark Museum of Art is one of sustainable urban projects to maintain this unique structure of blocks in Ginza during the city to be kept being upgraded.

Consider from the idea of shade First of all, I would focus on effects of shades in Japanese buildings because it interests me for the difference in how they are recognized by each individual. Shades are created by making a space with light dark instead of providing lights to a dark space. 濃淡のある陰は、人によって認識が違うことに魅力を感じた。だから、陰から建築を 考える。暗い空間を明るくしていくのではなく、明るい空間を暗くしていくことで、濃淡のあ る陰を作り出す。



Axis of shades+ newly rebuilt buildings and existing buildings I would like to visualize these unique spaces in Ginza which cannot be found from the surface in considering them as architecture function as axis of urban shades. Those urban shades function as connectors of newly rebuilt buildings and existing buildings as axis of the architecture. Those tall thin buildings which create the unique spaces in Ginza should be kept as they are and buildings without the shape should be rebuilt. 表から見えない銀座特有のスキマを見えるようにする為に、建築化し都市の陰の軸と する。都市の陰の軸は、建築の軸として新築部分と既存のビルを繋げる空間である。 銀座特有のスキマをつくる細長いビルを残し、細長いビル以外を新築とする。

Workshop BACKGROUNDS: FUTURE NEW YORK New York’ s dramatic rise in the late 19th and 20th century turned it into the capital of the world. It staged the rise and proliferation of the skyscraper; of the freeways; and of the industrial waterfront. Under the unrelenting pressure of a global sustainability aesthetic, these 3 inventions are now being questioned: Skyscrapers have been exhausted as icons; freeways no longer relevant as durable infrastructure; and waterfronts are turning into parks almost everywhere.


GROUP 1: GEOGRAPHIES OF MANHATTAN

Geographics of Manhattan Group 1 made four design proposals for Randall's Island and Wards Island and choose not to make a overall, grand idea . The location contains three bridges that dominate the site, and that connect the boroughs of Manhattan, Queens, and The Bronx via Randall's Island and Wards Island. But what if all cars are banned from Manhattan, what will be the future of the island? The group looked at:

To bring food production back into Manhattan, Randall’ s Island will serve as hub. The island becomes the marketplace for the city.

A leisure icon is needed for the island. The existing infrastructure is used to make a racing track, once a year the Grand Prix of New York takes place on Randall’ s Island.

By making waste mountains on Randall’ s Island, it will not only save the city a lot of money, it will also change the geography and create a new Manhattan skyline. The island will turn into a pedestrian area with a luxurious new bay.

The new transit knot takes the honeycomb as a model. This form makes it possible to expand infinitely.
