Welcome to sunny Scottsdale, home of Arizona Tiki Oasis!
It’s all about community
Arizona Tiki Oasis is a place where you can meet your community. Tiki tribes from around the world have gathered at Tiki Oasis in California since 2001. Since 2019, the creators of Tiki Oasis (Baby Doe & Otto) have been bringing the national Tiki scene to Scottsdale. This year we are showcasing live entertainment & mixologists from around the globe: Japan, New York, California, Nevada, Pennsylvania as well as from right here in Arizona!
Mid-Century Modern preservation
We at Arizona Tiki Oasis care deeply about preserving Mid-Century Modern architecture and are proud to support the Arizona Preservation Foundation. They are a leading non-profit community of preservationists who are dedicated to saving historic sites all over Arizona.
With its place on the Scottsdale Historic Register and the many awards won for its historic preservation, Hotel Valley Ho is the perfect partner for Arizona Tiki Oasis. The resort was designed by pioneering Modernist architect Edward L. Varney in 1956. Alan Hess, architectural critic, author and historian, stated that Hotel Valley Ho might be the best remaining intact example of a modern fifties resort in the country.
We also share the ideology of sustainability with Hotel Valley Ho. The hotel annually receives top Green Awards for their efforts. High Fives to the whole resort for making this a priority.
Thank you for supporting Hotel Valley Ho and Arizona Tiki Oasis, Baby Doe & Otto
Bands
The Martini Kings
The Martini Kings are packin’ their ukes in old suitcases for a Tiki-Tastic time at Arizona Tiki Oasis! They are celebrating the release of their 26th album, Enchanted Lovers, on Rum Bar Records. This collection features fan favorites from their 40+ year career, as well as new originals, and cover art by SHAG. The quartet features Tony Marsico, Janelle Frese, Joe Rotondi, and Richard Fultineer. Don’t miss The Martini Kings and their intoxicating sounds of Tiki and lounge! martinikings.com
Voodoo 5
Los Angeles guitarist and bandleader Skip Heller brings his take on Mid-Century Exotica, which combines the vocal stylings of Yma Sumac, burning Latin rhythms of Perez Prado, tropical vibes of Martin Denny, and steel guitar of Santo & Johnny. Not content to settle for revivalism, the group blends Denny/Lyman sounds with Hawaiian guitar, film noir, Drasnin-esque female vocals, and Tjader-tinged Latin jazz. Heller has assembled an all-star lineup for this special engagement, including guest vocalist Lena Cardinale. @voodoocombo
The Cocktail Hours
Tucson musician Naïm Amor had a musical vision: to create a classic cocktail lounge group modeled on tiki and lounge ensembles of the 1950s and ‘60s who used vibraphone, assorted percussion, surf guitar, and exotic animal sounds. So guitarist Naïm assembled some of the best Tucson musicians to bring this vision to life: assembling Ben Degain on vibraphone and percussion, Thøger Lund on bass, and Casey Hadland on drums — and The Cocktail Hours were born. @amorsonic
Bands
Dubxotica! The Exotic Sounds of Liquid Desires
While both Dub and Exotica incorporate non-musical sounds and Caribbean rhythms, Dubxotica! The Exotic Sounds of Liquid Desires falls neatly into neither genre; though, like these genres, Dubxotica shares a similar appetite for sonic landscapes that rely heavily on percussion, mallets, and winds. Exotica and Dub have been inspirations since Liquid Desires’ beginning in the 1980s as an industrial-electronic act. In the spring of 2023 these guiding influences aligned when the Dubxotica album was hatched. sonidasound.bandcamp.com
Moonlight Magic
Moonlight Magic is the premier all-original, lounge-exotica combo in Arizona. The band specializes in a variety of classic styles — such as bossa nova, boogaloo, surf, calypso, cumbia, Polynesian, spaghetti western, and soul-jazz — rendered with an unmistakable delivery that is uniquely Moonlight Magic. Imagine Booker T & the MG’s with saxophone and exotic percussion making music that sounds like Les Baxter, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and Burt Bacharach. @moonlightmagicband
Slack Key 'Ohana
Slack Key ‘Ohana™ is a Kaleponi (California) based Hawaiian band with a “Tiki” Waikiki vibe, performing harmony-rich original songs in the Hawaiian style and unique interpretations of traditional Hawaiian melodies. Their recent album Live at Tiki Oasis debuted at #1 on the iTunes world music charts while their self-titled album debuted at #2 and won “Best World Music Album” at the 2022 San Diego Music Awards. The band is signed to Pacific Records. @slackkeyohana
The Rebel Set Bands
The Rebel Set is a far-out garage rock four piece from Phoenix, AZ. With their surfy guitars and Farfisa organs, the Rebel Set will have you twisting and shouting to their spooky space age rock ‘n roll. They have toured all over North America and are preparing to hit the road for a West Coast tour in 2024. Check out their latest album, Modern Living, available now on Outro Records. @the_rebel_set
Thee Stillnites
Thee Stillnites are a Phoenix-based trio of local music veterans raised under the hot desert sun. Introducing hard-edged Bakersfield backbeats, switchblade slappin’ grooves, frantic fingerpickin’ and rippin’, guided by hootin’ and hollerin’, Thee Stillnites cultivate a sound ranging from swinging hillbilly boppers to desperate ‘50s punk. The band keeps that raw soul sound alive and well, whilst presenting a unique story of their own. @theestillnites

The Wunderkammer of Dr. Kirsten –Three Decades of Collecting Tiki
Author and cinematographer Sven Kirsten opens the coffers of his Tiki museum (AKA his home) and shares stories of rare finds and his adventures on the urban seas, while highlighting the meaning and context of selected objects. Kirsten’s lectures always present audiences with a visual cornucopia of true Tiki.
Sven Kirsten – A love of visuals inspired Sven Kirsten to collect and photograph the remnants of the forgotten culture of Polynesian pop in America, leading him to identify the Tiki as its icon. In 2000, he published his findings in The Book of Tiki, which presented all aspects of Tiki style — its design, graphics, architecture, social culture, and cocktail mixology — and put Tiki firmly on the map of American pop culture. Sven followed with Tiki Modern, Tiki Pop, and The Art of Tiki. svenkirsten.com
