hur allting började
how it all started
När jag avslutade mina studier i textil och vävning hade jag stora drömmar och förhoppningar för framtiden. Men det var konstigt nog först när jag besökte ett litet familjeägt väveri i Dalarna som gjorde plastmattor på gammeldags vis som min framtid tog form. Jag fann plastremsor i de mest sprakande färger och kontraster. En tanke blev till en idé, och idén blev till verklighet. Pappelina föddes 1999. Tekniken att väva plastmattor är en Svensk uppfinning som kom till redan 1948. Pappelina har sedan utvecklat nya material, färger och framför allt mönster utöver den ursprungliga designen. Pappelinas plastmattor är stöpta i svensk tradition och design, med produktion och material ifrån Sverige. Pappelina är unikt, och jag är stolt. Mattorna blev en succé långt utanför Sveriges gränser. Det har även gett mig inspiration att skapa nya produkter. Jag tycker om det jag gör och det hoppas jag att även du skall göra.
When I completed my studies in textile and design, I had high hopes and dreams for the future. Oddly enough though, it was a visit to a small weaving mill in my home province of Dalecarlia, making plastic carpets in old Swedish style, that came to dictate my life’s course. In awe of the plastic strips in a myriad of blazing colours that surrounded me, I had a thought. This thought then turned in to an idea, which then became my reality. Pappelina was born 1999. The technique of weaving plastic carpets was born in 1948 in Sweden, and was later modernized by Pappelina, as new forms, colours and materials were added to the original process. Pappelina plastic carpets are rooted in Swedish tradition and Swedish design, with production and materials coming from Sweden. This makes Pappelina unique, and it makes me proud. Pappelina carpets have turned into a worldwide success, which has inspired me to branch out with new products. I enjoy what I do, and I hope you will too.

Ni kanske känner igen den! Lampan som var populär under 60 talet. Vi bestämde oss för att göra en egen variant. Lampskärmen lindas med samma plastband som vi väver med i våra mattor. Lampan tillverkas i lite skala av oss i Dalarna. Storlek: 20 cm Ø 33 cm hög. Max 40 W. Maybe you recoqnize it! The lamp that was popular during the 60s. We decided to do our own version. The lampshade is made of exact the same plastic stripes as our rugs. They are produced in a small-scale in Dalarna, Sweden. Size: 20 cm Ø 33 cm high. Max 40 W.
