STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE North America and Europe Graduate Applications


STEP #1 – Getting Started •

To begin an application for your graduate program, go to https://gograd.ou.edu/apply/.

Select First-time Users if you have never completed an application in our system or Returning Users if you have. If you are a firsttime user, you will need to create an account.

To create your account, enter a valid email address, first and last name and your date of birth.

STEP #2 – Returning User Password Reset •

If you’re a returning user, login with the email address and password you used when you created your account.

If you are having issues remembering your password, click Forgot Your Password. A password reset link will be emailed to the address you initially provided on your application.

STEP #3 – Logging In •

Once you login, you will choose Start New Application (for first-time applicants) or Continue Application (if you have started one in the past and are coming back to complete).

STEP #4 – Opening Your Application •

To start a new application, click Start New Application. Answer the questions, then select the application type and click Submit to create your application.

Returning users, click on the application you wish to complete and click Open Application.

NOTE: Do not select Add or Change Program unless you are a currently admitted student wishing to change or add a major of study.

Now you are set to begin the formal application process. You will be prompted with instructions regarding information about the completion of your application.

STEP #13 – Degree History

Provide test scores if applicable.

NOTE: The GRE is not required for our programs. This section is only required for international students who wish to attach TOEFL or IELTS scores. Otherwise, skip and move to the next section.

STEP #15 – Statement of Purpose

You will be prompted to attach a 300- to 500-word statement of purpose. If your program requires this to be submitted, a note will show up stating this document is required.

The statement of purpose should contain information regarding why you intend to apply to this program and what you intend to receive from it upon completion.

STEP #16 – Letters of Recommendation

Next, depending on your program choice, you may be required to request three letters of recommendation. These must be from a professional source (family members’ requests not preferred). You can request these by selecting Add Recommender.

STEP #17 – Professional Resume

Here, you will attach your professional resume if applicable. If a resume is required by your degree program, a note will show. You can attach the document by selecting Choose File and uploading.

STEP #18 – Research and Achievements

Provide optional information regarding your academic research and achievements. Most of this information is not required for the application process but can be submitted for informational purposes.

Answer the questions regarding publications/ reports, research experience, academic/ professional accomplishments, certificates and fellowships/scholarships/other honors.

STEP #19 – Employment History

List your employment history (post completion of your bachelor’s degree), beginning with your most recent position. If not applicable, skip to the next section.

STEP #20 – Supplemental Documents

Next, you can upload supplemental documents to accompany your application. The GRE/GMAT is not required for any of our programs, so may skip that section.

TOEFL/IELTS is only required for international status students from a non-English speaking nation (please refer to https://ou.edu/ admissions/apply/international/ou-approvednative-english-speaking-countries for a list of
