College Names New Director of Faculty Practice
With 25 years of experience in dental practice management, Caryl Parsons has joined the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry as the director of faculty practice.
Parsons comes to the College of Dentistry from Woodward, Oklahoma, where she was owner, operator and director of marketing and management of a small business. In her new role as director, she will plan, develop, implement and manage business operations and practice initiatives of the OU College of Dentistry, with clinical and administrative oversight responsibilities.
“The days spent here at the OU College of Dentistry have been rewarding and challenging at the same time,” Parsons said. “The future is so bright and filled with the promise of cutting-edge technology coupled with the pinnacle of care offered to every patient from the doctors who educate tomorrow’s dental professionals. We have an idea that sustains each of us each day at OU Dentistry.”
Parsons’ extensive background in the field of dentistry began in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in her role as an assistant with a pediatric dentistry practice. There, she received training in the principles of systems development, patient retention, treatment plan acceptance and increased production.
Subsequently, she accepted a management position at a multi-facility, multi-doctor practice in Oklahoma City, where she was active in all aspects of practice, including hiring, training and retention, and facilitation of all clinical operations.
Parsons attended the University of Oklahoma, Norman, where she studied marketing and management. She has served on boards of multiple organizations, including Leadership Oklahoma, Northwest Domestic Crisis Services, Woodward Education Foundation, Northwest Oklahoma Red Cross, Woodward Chamber of Commerce and the Woodward Tourism and Visitors Bureau. She also served as the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy hospitality lead in 2017.
