His Story Earl Thomas Black went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the age of 69. Earl was the son of the late Rufus and Laurel Black. He was a native of Avondale, LA, born in Assumption Parish. He was also the Second youngest of 4 siblings. Earl was a loving and devoted brother to Clifton Black, Mary Ann Smith and Elnora B. Johns. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Carolyn L. Black.

Earl was the loving father of Earlette Garrison; step-father of Myron Granger; grandfather of Erick Garrison, Darkayla Louis, Akia Brown, Meddrick Green and Zayden Ferguson. He was the uncle of Christine B. Gray, Michael Black, Tanya A. Black and Damain Black, he was also the uncle and godfather of Michelle M. Black, great-uncle of a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

Earl Black lived a full and fruitful life. He had a talent with using his hands. In his younger days he Dee jay’d and was a wiz on the CB. His handle was “Dr. Freeze” and he enjoyed trash talking with truckers on the radio as they all do. He was known world-wide and he was a member of a CB club. Earl also had a niche for repairing Air Conditioners and refrigerators. In spite of his failing health, he never once gave up. Earl was lots of laughs and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his precious memories one brother, Clifton Black; two sisters, Mary Ann Smith and Elnora B. Johns; his daughter, Earlette Garrison, step-son, Myron Granger, 5 grandchildren, nieces, Christine Gray and Tanya A. Black; goddaughter, Michelle M. Black and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, devoted friends and other relatives.
