For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. John 6:40 (NIV)

His Life On Friday, September 14, 1961 a beautiful baby boy was born to the late Evelina BlakeFrank and the late Joshua L. Blackburn, Jr. and on that day Joshua Levie Blackburn III, affectionately called “House” or “Josh” became the apple of his parent’s eyes and a joy to all that came in contact with him.

Joshua grew up in the ninth ward of New Orleans and attended Charles J. Colton Jr. High School and Francis T. Nicholls Sr. High School where he was an All-Star Running Back. He continued his education and his passion for sports at Nicholls State University. On February 12, 1975 Josh met the love of his life, Tania Henry. It was destiny for the two to be together. On June 21, 1985, Joshua married his soul mate and to this union two beautiful children were born; Jason & Joshika. Josh later pursued a new passion and opened The New Edition Bar & Lounge, which he owned and operated successfully for 13 years.

Josh was a husband, father, grandfather and friend who was loved and admired by many. He was a fun-loving person who liked to spend quality time with his family and entertain his friends and customers at his bar. He was a member of The Dumaine Street Gang Second Line Social and Pleasure Club for over 12 years where he reigned as King in 2002.

His motto was “Live life to the fullest”, and his favorite saying was “Life is Beautiful”. Josh was preceded in death by his mother, Evelina Blake Frank; his father, Joshua L. Blackburn, Jr. and his brothers, James Campfield, and Darrell Johnson.

You Was Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me‌

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me by David Romano

I know how much you love me, as much as I love you. And each time you think of me, I know you’ll miss me, too. But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand. That Jesus came and called my name And took me by the hand. And said my place was ready in heaven far above. And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. So when tomorrow starts without me, Don’t think we’re far apart. For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.

FOREVER AND ALWAYS

When tomorrow starts without me, And I’m not here to see. If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn’t cry, the way you did today. While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.

Daddy, I don’t know where to begin besides saying I miss you so very much. Our relationship was one that was very special to me. We had the best fights and arguments. I would ask if you wanted me to punch you in the face and of course you would run and tell mama on me. I feel so lost not being able to call you or ask mama “where’s my daddy”. I remember one of our last conversations you told me how much you loved me and looked forward to my daily phone calls. We always got along best when your wife wasn’t there, because you would turn on me once she came around. I could go on and on telling you how just looking at the mailbox reminds me of you. You remember you told me it was ok to stick my hand in the mailbox and I got stung by the bees that lived in there. I never did get around to suing you and your wife for my medical expenses. Though I’ll be missing you I’ll always have the many memories that we shared to keep me going. Until next time. I Love You Old Man, Your Baby Girl
